Alot of you casual fans don't understand how boxing scoring works. A knockdown without a knockout only wins you the round. It doesn't erase what's happened in other rounds. Wilder won the rounds he knocked down fury and maybe, one or 2 more. Fury won the others so Fury should've won the fight. Plain and simple
@Anzomax25 жыл бұрын
Lol you fail to mention that a knock down is a 2 point round. If you get two knockdowns it's a 3 point round. So Wilder won both 9th and 12th rounds 10-8. Plus please go back to the first 1/3 of the fight. What did Tyson do to win all those rounds? Nothing he was too busy avoiding getting and trying to find his distance. Fury put it on 5-8 which is clear as day, but them 1st 4 four rounds were all up in the air. It's just all in how the judges saw it.
@natoshwd5 жыл бұрын
Boxing is judged on 4 categories ring generalship, clean effect punching, its no need to even continue the list because I am sure most people don’t care. Deontae for most of the fight had fury back pedaling and most of his punches were slight grazes on wilder. Fury percentage rate was higher but don’t forget about effective aggression another category but let me back off of logic and state facts. How many points do you lose for multiple knockdowns? I do agree fury is the better boxer but in order to take a mans belt it has to be convincing enough.
@scipio20095 жыл бұрын
Rounds 1-4 were arguable, and some have even thrown 7 and 11 into the lurch. In rounds where the result is unclear, you may as well score 10-10 because the fighter who ends up with the round will likely nick it by a judge seeing one thing more of what they like to see. Fury was evasive as all heck, but Fury didn't throw or land enough to leave no doubt in those early rounds. Anything from 8-4 Fury to 6-6 was viable for the fight. Outside of that, you've either missed the fight or are simply scoring activity for activity or slickness for slickness, without any attention paid to being effective.

I personally think Wilder got SCHOOLED. His perspective about being the aggressor and landing the biggest blows is actually LEGIT, and that along with his size difference and multiple knock downs give him an EXCELLENT argument for the win. But Fury's technical dominance THROUGHOUT the fight, and his NO QUIT heart...DESPITE the long layoff and near knockout...was enough to give him the W as well. @@deenice871 That's one thing people aren't understanding. Some of those rounds neither of them did much but Wilder was the one chasing and initiating contact. Usually, that's enough to get the win in rounds like that, particularly if you are the one holding a belt, but on Saturday people seemed to be scoring the fight as Fury automatically wins as long as he's standing at the end of the round, or as long as he doesn't get visibly hurt or shaken. People went in thinking that either Wilder KO's Fury or Fury wins every single round hands down and their preconception interfered with their rational thought. I loved the draw, it's how I had it, and both of them impressed me.

Look, almost every boxing champion, top coach and sports journalist had Fury winning. It was blatant robbery. Wilder knows deep down he lost and will likely wimp out of of a rematch. He has no hope in a rematch if there are fair judges and a ref. Wilder will avoid it.

To be honest with y'all, I have a lot of respect for both Wilder and Fury after their fight- they are both magnificently eloquent, humble enough after the effect, quite clearly gentlemen of the sport and both do care about the other in a way I have not seen much of in boxing. Both are very thoughtful, caring men and having beaten each other black and blue, there is no ounce of bitterness or malice in them both and that's really nice to see. So, in my book, a draw was a very fair result
