My daughter died from pancreatitis due to Depakote. My daughter did not drink. I did not want her to be on this drug, but was told that if I didn't follow doctor's orders I could be considered a neglectful parent. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG.

my mil was taking this and she got severe ataxia from it. it was like she was a different person!! she would go off on these rants and she never made sense. she would say all the wrong words. she wouldn't sleep for days at a time and no one would listen to me. finally she threw it away and after she went to the mental hospital they took her off it and now shes back to herself!! it was crazy! she was on it for a year. so glad shes off that shit. im so very sorry to hear about your daughter. big harma does not care its all about population control.

Not the point of the story. And weight gain isn't important if seizures are under control. I get the self esteem thing, but seizure control is more important than weight.

@@Grigsy I must say that I forgot to think of seizures, whose control is so vital and so difficult. I had to take depakote for serious bipolar. I understand the seriousness of seizures, but depakote causes important weight gain and somnolence which has to affect people with seizures as much as those suffering from bipolar. The weight gain is important and discouraging. We will hopefully find a better medication

My neurologist just prescribed 250 mg for joint pain. A side effect is joint pain, also!

I took depakote as an anti psychotic and the first 14 days my body rejected the medince then they switched me off the time release and it started killing me. I couldn't eat, sleep, get out of bed and I could not at all stop vomiting. I told my husband "I am dying'' I never took it again

Why doesn't Lynn Akemi Uchizono understand this?! She first put me on this when I was 17 years old. She said that I was too old to be skinny and that it was time for me to become a woman. When I went to the beach with my best friends, I got sick. My best friend's father said that I ate too much fat, all the spaghetti and nachos. After 3 rides, I got sick. I couldn't sleep at night and my aunt Judy took me to the hospital. I saw Lynn Akemi Uchizono there. She said, "this is what happens when a girl matures into a woman. You'll get used to it." When I was discharged from the hospital, I got sick again a week later. Mommy took me back to the hospital. Lynn was waiting for me there. She said, "you're just maturing into a woman. This happens. It happened to me, so it should happen to you." When I was 18 years old, I went to school. I kept on falling asleep in class. When I told Lynn about it, she said, "your body is just adjusting to womanhood. Get used to it." I often fell asleep in class, which was starting to get annoying. When I told Lynn about it, she just said, "the little girl inside you is dying so you can mature into a woman." Lynn kept on drugging me on Depakote. In November 2014, Lynn put me on an overdose, which made me tired the next morning. When Judy went to wake me up, I told her that I was too tired to even get up. Judy then took my brother to school. All I did was stuff my face. When I became obese, Judy stopped taking me to see that doctor. When I went to church, Judy made me sit with her and said, "Hannah, I'm so proud of you. You've finally become a woman. You're not a little girl anymore. It seems like only yesterday, you were just a skinny little girl. Now you're a woman." I dropped out of school to avoid falling asleep in class. Mommy put me in gym class twice, but I didn't even lose an ounce. When I was 19 years old, I often came home from school tired. Mommy made me walk to the gym to lose some weight. No matter how much I exercised, I didn't lose an ounce. I developed depression and suicidal thoughts. On my 20th birthday, after I ate my birthday cake and drank my milk, I stopped eating for good. I began losing lots and lots of weight. I was taken to the hospital. When Judy came to visit me, she was angry. She said, "Hannah, I thought you have become a woman, but you went back to being a little girl! Why did you do this?! We need to take you to church to pray the fat back into you! God made you a woman, but you disobeyed Him and made yourself a child again!" But then, she slowly started to accept my weight loss.

Depakote has helped with my bipolar episodes. But now I can’t control my hands shaking. My job and hobbies require my hands to not shake. I actually sliced my thumb open while use a adjustable wrench today, no clue how cause I wasn’t working on anything with sharp edges

I am not a woman, however I was just prescribed this today as an alternative to wellbutrin. I was given this or lithium to choose from. Do to i work outside in a hot climate, he suggested Depakote. Said to start with 3-4 pills at night for first week, if i don't notice a change go to 5 pills at night. Personally I'm afraid of side affects out weighing the benefits. Are there and success stories. I developed panic disorder among other things after 4 tours in Afghanistan

I've been suffering from this AND pain meds for YEARS! Now, suddenly my Doctor talking to me about having to either give up my pain meds or no more Benzo's. Reason being, THEY accidentally gave me a prescription too early and then prescribing me another one (not realizing I already had one that they gave me.. Well, I accidentally turned in the wrong prescription (I.e., the old one) thus, making it seem as though I never even turned it in .. When, in reality, they had just written me one too early! Now, my Doctor is all scared about possibly loosing his license. Any suggestions on How I need to take care of this MESS?!
