I may be biased but for me British bands of the 80s can never be beaten. It was a golden era.

Muse, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and plenty of others would beg to differ. Seriously though, what is it about the UK that breeds great musicians? They've been on fire since at least the 60s.

Lynn Hamps its a number of things that come together to produce the best music, best bands in the world in the world, we are an island nation and for thousands of years we have had to deal with invaders trying to change our lives, this has made us aggressive, ingenious, clever, passionate, stubborn and comedic. The majority of the country is working class, this brings with it experiences and determination to succeed, it also gives a perspective on life that culminates in great lyrics, something that can’t be replicated anywhere else. Combining all of these things produces the music and bands that have ruled the world of music for decades.

It's really well complemented by the crowd chanting it, and it's also one of the best moments at their concerts, shadowed IMO only by the sea of hands on Never let me down again. The moment the melody kicks in you can already see fans that know what's coming throwing their hands up and then Dave takes the energy and leads the crowd into the collective clapping which has basically become a DM live standard. They are truly unique live and have to be experienced.

Also my experience way too close to the mosh pit LOL. When they perform you can't help singing with them. I'm sitting here watching this singing. It's what makes this kind of talent stand out. Same with Erasure. Backstage after a concert once I told Andy Bell how good I felt, relaxed and happy. He said "Great because it is exactly what we're trying to do." I'm old enough to have experienced many decades of music and I still favor the 80's.

Welcome to Depeche Mode. They moved us up here in Germany for 40 years and I've seen them performing live nearly 20 times. Best concert for me was spending my 18th birthday in 1987 in Berlin with 16000 people during the Music for the Masses tour.

I am a Depeche Mode Grandma freek. My son who is almost 40 and my teenage granddaughter is a huge fan. I have seen them in concert in the 80s and 90s. I heard they are doing another tour. They transformed my musical life. I am a guitarist from the age of 7 years old. Martin the guitarist in Depeche Mode and sound genius made me feel music so much different. My twin sister and I were nuts on the dance floor when a Depeche Mode song came on. We are almost the same age as the members of the band. Your mother is my son's generation experiencing this music. Depeche forever. I am up in my living room going nuts to this. I have a copy of their concert from several years ago. I'm going to put it on now and dance my ass off. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
