I'm always surprised at the lack of enthusiasm towards Halo, it's always been a stand out track of theirs for me, and it seems to get lost in the shuffle a lot. The swelling sounds and darkness of it......it's a great recording

Stripped 3. The Landscape Is Changing 2. A Question Of Lust 1. Here is the House I have to agree to what Jason said about 'Strangelove'. Probably the most DM-sounding song. 'Policy of Truth' and maybe 'Halo' belong also in this category imo. But whenever someone says they don't know DM I will recommend them to start with 'Strangelove'.

I could've used almost every song from Violator. So, you, Joe, and everyone who w/you about Violator being overrated is nuts. I didn't use them all just a few because I wanted to be fair. So, here is my top ten: 1. Personal Jesus (It was love at first listen and the video was cool.) 2. Strangelove (Has the perfect dance tempo.) 3. Sea of Sin (I heard it on a radio station in L.A. and thought OMG!) 4. Lie to Me (I like the lyrics because they seem more personal and, the bass is awesome.) 5. Fly on the Windscreen (Nice, dark tune.) 6.. World in My Eyes (Kind of seductive in its tone.) 7. People Are People (It does what Ebony & Ivory tried to do w/out being corny.) 8. Blasphemous Rumors (It's a song I can relate to.) 9. Everything Counts (It sums up greed pretty much in one song) 10. Blue Dress (Has a haunting feel to it.)

Salt Lake City/ Ogden had a great alternative station (KJQ) back in the day. They'd do a live call-in show, Saturday nights, where you could make a requests. Without fail, the dj would get about 20 requests for Somebody from teen/pre-teen girls. After awhile, "Nope! Not playing it" then "click" was the response. My top ten in no order - Leave in Silence, Everything Counts, Halo, Shake the Disease, Stripped, Enjoy the Silence, Useless, In Your Room, Black Celebration, Precious .

With Depeche Mode there's almost a consensus that Enjoy The Silence is their best song. For me Precious runs it a close second. Shake The Disease is often overlooked due to only featuring on a greatest hits collection: 1. Enjoy The Silence 2. Precious 3. Shake The Disease 4. It’s No Good 5. Get the Balance Right 6. In Your Room 7. People Are People 8. Everything Counts 9. Just Can’t Get Enough 10. See You

I think you guys overlooked my number one “Shake The Disease” which was a bonus on their first greatest hits compilation in 1985. But I enjoyed hearing your opinions (up to Violator only for me - anything after Violator was 👎). Surprised no one picked Just Cant Get Enough. Agree on opinions about Enjoy the Silence and Personal Jesus - both classics.

I applaud your effort but you guys appear to have overlooked songs that didn't appear on the band's studio albums. It's been said by others here - 'Shake the Disease' is one such track that is always near the top of my list. It's also worth listening to the single release version of 'Somebody' which is a subtle but much improved version of the track that appears on Some Great Reward.

Depeche Mode also has pretty strong B sides that never were released on an album ('Dangerous', 'Fools' etc.)
@jamesbiggs81873 жыл бұрын
@@Sir_Eyeball My comment above relates to B sides as well. I am just not sure the guys have considered anything that wasn't on a studio album. 'Surrender' would get my nod as my favourite B side but there are several other great B sides in the band's back catalogue.
@Sir_Eyeball3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesbiggs8187 Yeah 'Surrender' is also pretty epic. I think I have 'Only When I lose myself' in my Top 10 list as a none album song. Another great B-Side is 'All that's Mine' from Delta Machine. Their best song in the 21st century imo.

@@Sir_Eyeball Unlike many of its detractors, I am very fond of Delta Machine (though I am not a big fan of SOTU or Spirit). Best Depeche track of the 21st Century? I think my vote would go to 'The Darkest Star' from PTA (also the band's best album of the 21st Century).

Glad to see Just Can't Get Enough not make it. I absolutely despise that song. But I was expecting at least one vote for Blasphemous Rumours. I dig that one. I'd have to put People Are People in there, too, maybe at 9 or 10. My top 10 would include, in no particular order, Enjoy..., Never Let Me Down..., Policy..., and World in..., Everything Counts, and Master and Servant.
