FOR THOSE FIRST TIME PARTICIPANTS IN DEPHEMEREMBER: Just a word of encouragement. Do NOT get discouraged if you can't complete every day or each prompt. It's normal. I remember the first 2 years, I only watched because it seemed overwhelming. Last year (my first to participate), I only finished 3 prompts in December. So if that's you this year just know, that's totally fine. If you have fun, that's literally ALL that matters. You'll do great and we'll all be cheering you on! Happy creating! ❤

If you want ruffed stringy edges put them in the washing machine (easy agitation and then dry.)Much easier than scissors!

That Auburn fabric is amazing. The contrast is beautiful under the denim fabric. But really all of the fabrics are beautiful. You couldn't have gone wrong with any of them. Just a matter of personal taste. I love the crinkly sound a paper bag makes. Great choice.

I didn't follow last year but I have every other year. Last year I thought there was just too much silliness going on for me at 82 I'm hoping it will be better this year and I know many people enjoyed it last year it's just a personal thing. I will make my journal and be looking forward to the prompts

Thank for using white glue and showing people that fabric can be applied to paper/cardstock/cardboard without using TOXIC Fabric Tac. Far too many KZbin creators are leading new people down a garden path of inappropriate product use. I look forward to joining you and Luise this year. @@49dragonflies I also watched Luise's video, and although it's rather daunting, at the end she said 'just do it - get started'! So I did. The first layer was a paper bag, and the second layer (outside cover) was a patchwork of recycled brown paper napkins. It's currently drying. Next step - well... baby steps. 🧡💚🤎

Barbara, I already made my journal for Dephemerember, I have never made a journal with more than one signature, but with your instructions it was easy! It’s sitting on my shelf and now I have to wait for December and for the prompts. I’m sure this will be a very challenging experience but I want to challenge myself and grow so bring it on! I must admit I would have chosen the grey fabric as I imagine it to be a background of frost while the jeans are dark winter night with splotches of white snow falling on eyelashes as one gazes up at the sky. I discovered other makers who posted videos using the #Dephemerember when I began my obsession with junk journaling earlier this year. I didn’t realise my two favourite makers were the originators until I watched your FAQ recent videos. I am so excited to join in this year. I also am glad you use A4 & centimetres as in Australia we use those as well. My name is Jean so I have decided, after watching this video, my journal cover will be made of jeans fabric too, as I think it most fitting ie Jean’s jeans junk journal.

I’ve watched all the previous years but I’m going to actually try it this year!!! As a sewer, I could recommend that putting a non-stretchy contrasting fabric behind the holes (such as pink) & stitching them together would solve the problems with the holes & give you a stable patch for the cover.

Girl, you must love roughing up stretchy jeans fabric. I was looking at all those little pieces, wide-eyed 😳 and thinking, "Those babies would be going into the dryer for about a minute." Lovely choices Barbara. I would have gone the same way 👍👍 My first fabric covered journal was made of hubby's old jeans for my 17 year old nephew last year. I used cardboard and didn't sew around that one. Recently I followed your planner tutorial and made another fabric cover with a paper bag and sewing. I LOVE how it turned out. That one is going to be gifted so I feel another one for me will be needed soon. I'm looking forward to part 2 of Luise's journal now.
