I feel this young lady (Jo) feels ashamed of her "old van" build. But, to me this is a amazing build. I LOVE how she said I didnt know how to do electrical and just came up with using a flash light, didnt know how to do plumbing and put in a hand pump & plastic container jug. This is REAL life problems solving. And, it ALL works great. I love these types of van tours. Not eveyone has $100,000 to build a Mercedes vans (which are over priced) and build out or hire a builder to put in a "Perfect" van. Which are not interesting to most as they are just copy cats of the ones on yt. Jo has built a one of a kind wonderful home!! She should be so proud of her self. This is a fantastic build. Love it all. She reminds us all to just go for it. To figure it out as you go. Make it simple. "A Simple life is the best life "as they say.

Happy Thanksgiving and Have and Merry Christmas *Newly Updated Safety Suggestions: for Campers, Explorers, Travelers* I just happened to see your channel, and others similar channels recently, and I think that you, and others sharing their actual reality, and some have expressed some of the up, and down sides to van, RV, or vehicle living. Although, I just noticed your KZbin channel, and other similar channels, displaying van living. I just wanted to remind everyone to Aware Be of your surroundings and Alert, I just posted this anyway to help anyone who may benefit from these suggestions I believe that it is very helpful, and beneficial to others who may be thinking about this type of living without actually thinking through, about the some of the realistic problems that could occur with vehicle or van living etc... People need to know what up sides there are, as well as some of the down sides of vehicle living. I believe this channel, and other channels have been informative to others, including myself. Although, I am NOT living in a vehicle or anything like this. I feel that you , and others KZbinrs sharing this with your viewers will be very helpful. I wish you ALL the Best with your traveling endeavors. I shared this with several other travelers, as I watched their KZbin channel for the first time, as yours, and I shared with them this information that may be helpful to you as well to others. Therefore, I would also like to suggest a few Safety tips, and items that may help you, or others in your viewing audience. Although, you may have knowledge of this already, I am not sure, so I hope this will be helpful to you, others or someone. *Keep a Extra working cellphone with you or in your vehicle. You can purchase inexpensive phone with a very low monthly price between 25, 35, 45, dollars a month with unlimited data and text, and some have Nationwide coverage Do your research for the best fit for you Consider Carrying Several Extra portable cellphone phone chargers, and cables. Consider theses items: *Mini portable power charging station. I have also seen outdoor portable solar powered power stations, that can be recharged from sunlight this may be very useful to have, to power your devices. *Invest in a Cellular signal booster for outdoor use, and camping situations to boost or amplify your cell signal and reception. Consider also the purchase of a WiFi signal booster to also boost your WiFi signal. Research to see what you prefer. *Very Inportant: Invest in a SOS distress electronic signal device, this a kind of device can send out a distress signal with your exact location. There are various types of these devices, and including devices that can be used when boating, or camping situations. *Some have emergency Strobe lights SOS signaling with location alerts, and location updates that can be sent to your family, and emergency first responders. Some can be synchronized with your smart watch or phone. There are some satellite SOS texting messaging, locator devices that will send messages with your phone even if there isn’t any cellular signal, or WiFi. With this device your can still text, and communicate with others in a emergency satellite transmission. Check online, for various emergency SOS products, some are small to fit in the palm of your hand. You can check online, and on Amazon, research what SOS devices will be a good fit for you. *Mini portable vehicle battery jumper charger *vehicle battery jumper cables *Vehicle Jumper cables *PLEASE BE AWARE* that in the *WINTER* *vehicle *Batteries fail* many times in very cold weather conditions. Vehicle batteries drain more often in the winter months. Please Keep a vehicle battery portable jumper pack, this is a device that can jumper or boost your vehicles battery yourself without another vehicle. If you have a older battery in your vehicle, Please have it tested or replace it, and consider the purchase a new vehicle battery with higher Cold Cranking Amps rating. Be Aware that Sometimes even a battery that is a few years old can fail in the Winter months, and extremely cold temperatures. Some alternatives to Winter Camping, Travelers, Explorers, etc, if you can find a Warmer Climate Location to stay during Extreme Winter months, or stay with family for a few weeks. Another alternative is renting somewhere, Hotel, Apartment, although it can probably get expensive. What ever you decide, or choose to do or as a possible alternative, Please Be Careful, Alert, Aware, Safe, and Informed... *Keep a Fire extinguisher handy *Smoke detectors, and Carbon monoxide detectors can be helpful Consider installing; *Mounted Dashboard camera front and rear possibly. *Exterior vehicle mounted camera for the front, rear, and both sides of your vehicle. Some can be activated by motion, Including spotlights. *Interior vehicle cameras *Flashlights or pluggin spotlights *Portable spotlights, and lanterns Keep a few whistles around with you, and in your vehicle possibly in your vehicle’s center console *Keep a Sound horn, for hiking this can service, as a deterrent, and a emergency signal alert for others. *A set of long range 2 way radios, walkie talkies, to communicate with others during trips, some have 100 mile radius keep for emergencies, you can keep with you when hiking. Use your own discretion regarding the use carrying of any weapons. Don’t forget to bring Bear Spray Pepper spray Where is allowed Purchase a couple canisters just in case and keep it with you If you own a drone you can use it to survey your area for animals etc. However, Please Be Safe and Beware of your Surroundings. Stay Alert, and Be Safe even when stopping at Rest stops, Truck Stops, and conducting your various tasks. Keep in often contact with your family, friends etc. Keep up with the latest Weather Updates, beware and prepare for unexpected Weather events and conditions. *VERY IMPORTANT* I would suggest *NOT* to travel to locations without internet, cellular service in the Winter, the reason is that weather conditions can change very quickly, and you absolutely DO NOT want have a vehicle break down, or malfunction, or emergency, and not have the availability to communicate, and contact your family, and or, emergency road assistance, or emergency services. *Safety is Paramount* *Your Life is Important* *You want to Live to Travel another Day* *So Be Safe* *Stay Alert* *Keep your vehicle gas filled* Don’t ride on fumes, or on Empty. Don’t chance your Safety by running your vehicle fuel or gas too close to Empty. Fill it up anyway, it will save you alot of time, and headache later on. Remember to keep up on routine maintenance, check your tires for wear, keep up with your fluids for your vehicle, like oil levels, antifreeze coolant, Please carry extra (oil)(washer fluid), (brake fluid), (antifreeze). You will need extra Winshield Washer fluid because of the ever changing Weather conditions, dustly roads, especially in slushy wet roads. Furthermore, you will need extra Windshield Washer Fluid, Because you will Be driving more often in dusty, dirty, windy, and varying weather conditions. Your windshield will gather dust and debris from long term driving. Also, Remember Because you are on the road riding for sometimes very long distances, and long periods of time, I would suggest investing in 2 sets of tires, and a spare, the extra set to rotate. Check the mileage ratings on your tires they all very. Conduct visual inspections of your tires often, check for damage, wearing, air pressure, etc Keep a pressure gauge to check your tires pressure and a tire pump. Electric, Portable tire pump. Keep towing insurance to Be Safe if you ever need it. It Doesn’t cost much try to get National coverage if available, or where you will be traveling. Keep Extra financing, and savings for any unexpected issues, vehicle repairs, and overnight stays, in a emergency or if you need to rest indoors. Keep Enjoying Yourself, Keep Enjoying the outdoors, and Nature Just..Please continue to Be Positive, Safe, and Alert.. Wishing Success, Well-being and Happiness You All. God Bless You, and everyone Traveling, or living in their vehicles, Vans, RVs, etc. Please Be Safe..... God Be With You..... I been living in a van since 2019 and have several different Chevrolet G series models . I fixed up the first one out of the junk yard with a New Mexico title . It wàs super clean body wise and only need minor transmission rebuild . I love converting vans . Was a carpenter /mechanic my whole life . And I should have done this when I was kid . Instead of house and shop . Now I just live on land and fix up old vans and love it

I have been watching van builds since I discovered it 6 or 7 months now... and I've seen solo women in vans and they doing what they have to do, but of all of them you're the second one, the first one is a single mother of a young boy that could not afford rent and she build out a beautiful van, and like you her van was older she did what she had to do. I'm in admiration of you're determination, your can-do attitude, your smile your understanding "that sometimes you have to do what you have to do, and that includes buying a van that you have to fix". Those people that are criticizing are always the one that don't have a solution, they just want to criticize.. don't listen to those people you're doing great. Yes you put a lot of money into it, but sometimes again we have to do what we have to do as women as human beings.. and I am so happy that you have some place to sleep, you have a home I don't look at this as your "van".. I look at this as your home. With the cost of rent where everybody is crying because they could either pay their rent or starve.. you have something that you can actually save money and maybe someday buy a brand new van. This is not a van, this is your home. One of the things I have learned when it comes to instilling a shower, you can get a pan from one of those farm stores that cater to Farmers and I think they called them troughs they're like 50 bucks or less, and they'll show you how to insulate it and turn it into a shower, it's so easy.. it's what the animals drink out of. A lot of people even those people with the high end Vans are buying the larger ones for maybe a hundred and fifty dollars insulating it and turning them into shower pans, in some cases they've actually turned them into tubs. I hope you're able to get electricity soon because one of the things that as woman at that time of the month I just want to lay in bed and watch TV what a nice cozy blanket so that's what you need to get a tub fixed and electricity so you can get a TV, or at least get a jackery you can plug in a TV watch Netflix. Your an amazing human being.. absolutely amazing and I have nothing but the utmost respect and love for you. Safe Travels sis💛❤🚌

She did a good job with the van but i have a question For all the nomads living out of a van or rv or suv why just the van , my mom moved across country when first married (1950s) they bought a pull behind truck travel trailer , She said it is safer and smarter if the car needs to go in the repair shop they dont have your whole house in the shop where they can steal your stuff or keep it until you pay the bill. Also if it is not repairable it is easier to buy a new truck to pull your trailer than it is to dismantel your vans interior and move it to a new van.

You did it the SMART way. No mortgage, no car payment. Financial freedom. You know what's new in terms of parts. I use an annual Planet Fitness membership for about $230/year here in the US I can go to any location while traveling. Not sure if they have Love's Travel locations in CA but def check that out, they are a safe place to park for the night. They have laundry, van hook ups, parts and sundries for travel life, a fast food restaurant, a sundries store, gas at a discount, oil and small parts. I purchase their 20/mo internet. I make my travel plans around their locations so I can get some cardio and general workout/shower daily or EOD. Be proud of yourself. You crushed it.

Great job kiddo. I'm proud for you! To not have the background for building and living alone you have you have made your mind up, set your goals, planned your interior, and manufactured your tiny home. Don\t dream it, be it. BTW great ceiling! Life is great, enjoy it and be careful. I have an 87 GMC I have gutted and plan on converting it. I have the flooring, cooktop, refrigerator, and water tanks and also have experience building so I hope soon to have it rigged up and take my chance to enjoy nature. I used to take my girls camping during the summers when they were youngsters and will probably give my van to her family once I am finished using it.

She is absolutely right! I needed a place to stay and my credit was trash. I had very little money and k Bought a Honda van. I didn’t do much to it when I first moved in it. I had an old memory foam twin mattress I cut apart for my bed and put a small skinny shelf in it and that’s all I needed! I did get a storage after about 2 months so I could have less clutter and get supplies for my true build. I’m gonna get a box truck and do a simple build because I’m a simple guy! Van life has been one of my best decisions I have made

If you can buy an older vehicle, DO IT!!! They need initial $$ to get them mechanically sound, but when you do, they are so much easier to work on and cheaper to fix. Parts are pretty easy to come by. And, unlike the newer computerized vehicles, there's no sensors to shut you down because one little sensor goes out, then you have to spend $$$ to find out what it is, and the darn thing won't run until you take it to a shop. In an older vehicle, when something goes wrong mechanically, its usually just one thing, and it doesn't affect the running of the whole van/truck/car....

Currently I am in the middle of doing EXACTLY what you are doing right now! I Even had to work on the front and rear suspension. Right now you are three steps ahead of me. I heard about getting a membership to an anytime fitness for around 30 bucks a month. This gives you a place to shower 24/7 some even have a washer and dryer.

Frig/cooler. Management of it. Great perspective. Folks who have had hard challenges don’t need more but what she says is true for many.

So glad you were able to save your van. It’s wonderful that you have security and such confidence in yourself. I think you’re blessed. Stay safe.

I didn't catch how many years you have lived in the van, but let's say the total expense of the van and repair was $22,000. If you rent a one-bedroom modest apartment in Vancouver, one year is $15-20,000. So, you are likely ahead. Plus, if you want to move to Victoria, you just go. Or Osoyoos, or wherever. Nice set up!

I know what you mean about fixing a van. I have 2000 Chevy Express, 14 ft. long and 6 ft. wide. I just love 🥰 my van, it is a great van.

Sometimes it's the simplest builds that are the most enjoyable and the most rewarding to live in sometimes having all that complicated electrical equipment and solar equipment is a headache just keeping it basic and simple like this layout is perfect that's the way I like to keep things more time to enjoy things instead of worrying about maintenance

Been doing the same in a 2002 minivan. Slap lights with adhesive throw on the roof and your g2g just like inside house lights
