I am pretty sure my parents never gave this idea to him. I tried it once, and really liked it. I've had them several times in the intervening 45 years or so, but they're very rich and heavy, not something I could eat a lot of. :) My brother was into sports so he really needed to pack in the calories and this sandwich certainly does that.

Olson's Law states that if you mix any two foods together, it will taste at least as good as the worst of the two. (This is assuming that the two foods don't interact with each other poorly. For instance, lemonade and milk don't work because the milk will curdle.) By trying to mix foods, I found out that pizza and hot fudge go surprisingly well together. I'm going to try these sandwiches.

My cousin who is in her 70s I believe, made me one of these when I was 12 maybe 13.(I'm 21 now)and at first I was a little grossed out but now if I really think about it I'll eat one once in awhile. She also made peanut butter and bologna sandwichs also. Again they're not as gross as you think.

You need to use Blue Plate mayonnaise with it! It's the only way to make it, of course you also have to use Bunny bread also! Lol, I replied to this 7 months ago with the same reply 😀

I've been eating peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches for 30 = years. One of my faves but if you're gonna have pb&mayo you have to have a sweet red onion slice to make it really good.

Pb & mayo is the best. My mom made them for us when we were kids, and now she makes them for her grandkids.

Peanut butter and cheese, and Peanut butter and mustard go good together. The second makes a great dip for pretzels.

That sounds gross but I would definitely try it.

One of my favorite sandwiches as a teenager was peanut butter and Cheez Whiz. If you like to sweeten it up, try it with strawberry jam. Delicious and addictive. First bite: Huh. Second bite: Heyyy.. Third bite: Wow this is my new favorite thing.

I have to say, simple sandwiches are great! You don't need a lot, to make a good sandwich. These sandwiches look great!! My Grandpa grew up in the depression and ate like this. We would eat like this at his house! One of my favorites is a Kumato and onion sandwich. People use tomatoes but I prefer a kumato. A kumato is basiclly a SUPER sweet, juicy and non-gross tomato. Kumato comes from very special tomato plants and produce extraordinarily sweet fruit. Without the off putting taste or smell red tomatoes can have. I eat it on Sara Lee artesano bread. Other breads never taste right and ruin the sandwich. Slice the kumato, slice the onion, one slice of WHITE AMERICAN CHEESE ONLY, add some mayo and miracle whip. It is so simple, yet it is so good! Emmy should try Kumatos, I'm sure she'd love them. I have a bunch of depression cookbooks and they have great recipes!!

my dad used to eat peanut butter and lettuce sandwiches often and they are actually quite good. not a far cry from putting pb on celery.

I was dared once to eat a peanut butter and mayo sandwich. I was skeptical, but it was actually quite delicious. Umm, you can keep the onion and pickle, though. I love onions and I love pickles, but there are some places they just don't belong. With peanut butter is one of them.
