Once again the lyrics are a poetry by Jacques Prévert. Free verses impossible to put in music except with a very great talent. Montand was one of the best "Prévert - singer". He never changed a single word. There are many various versions of Barbara by Yves Montand (songs or simply spoken)

Hello *Dereck,* Beautiful mastery of *Yves Montand;* nevertheless, in my opinion, this request is a little too elitist and will not attract crowds. The ranking on YT may be affected by a minimal number of views. Patreon's members who offer these reactions should think about it. I didn't even know this song. In my humble opinion, it would have been better to come up with a standard like *"Les Feuilles Mortes"* (Autumn Leaves) or *"Trois Petites Notes de Musique"* (Three Little Musical Notes) which became famous because it was the signature song of the 1983 movie *"L'été meurtrier"* (The Murderous Summer) with *Isabelle Adjani* and *Alain Souchon* in the leading roles, but also "The Grands Boulevards," etc. Peace, folks. ☮😏

Hello ! Pour le coup c’est moi qui l’ai proposé et strictement rien d’élitiste. On a était des milliers à l’apprendre à l’école en tant que poème. Il y a plus vendeur effectivement mais étant nombreux à la connaître ça peut vraiment plaire. Pour la prochaine je prendrai une internationale, on verra si ça fonctionne mieux aux vues ;)
