Yeah I said the same when I came across his George McGinnis video… I like the channels stunted growth and forgotten player profiles but stunted growth only or mainly covers recent players.. and forgotten player profiles mainly cover 90’s and 2000’s players… I fw this channel cause it’s a bit of every era and names most people don’t really know or mention at all or just forgot about them if they do know about them

Nice video, but you forgot one thing. Harper's February 1997 trade to the Utah Jazz, where he refused to report and when asked why, stated: "You go live in Utah. Nothing against Utah or their team, but I don't want to live there." This continued a long held misconception that players still use today against Utah as a free agent destination. The Jazz were the best team in the West and would reach the Finals 2 years in a row (1997, 1998). Apparently the Mavs had tried and failed to trade him to Houston, and pivoted to the Jazz. But Harper didn't want to come off the bench at age 35, on a contending team. He would never get close to a title again.

I went to school with Derek Harper back in the '73-'74 school-season at Roosevelt Jr. High School in West Palm Beach, FL. No, I didn't know him, but I seen him around the school campus a lot.....All True....

Ewing choked that series, not Starks. Look at the series stats for Ewing. He shot under 40% for the entire series. Starks had to help carry the Knicks to their wins, and even carried them in Game 6 until Hakeem blocked his last second 3. The problem is that he was John Starks, one of the streakiest player alive, and your team was not in a great position if he was carrying your offense. Overall, he also shot under 40% for the series, with good games mixed with bad ones. But this was supposed to be Ewing's team, and he crapped the bed against Hakeem. For me, he gets the blame for losing the series. Harper was nice and solid throughout the series but was aging by then.

Derek Harper was a solid gritty point guard that aged like wine with seasoned mid range &outside shooting..He had a nice pace leading the offense getting over a half a dozen assist .great video

Marvin Barnes would be an interesting video even tho his career was a bit underwhelming bc of off court issues and not really seeming to care much about focusing on his game.. coulda been definitely at least been a consistent 20 and 8-10 forward if he put his mind to the game more.. but that spirits of St. Louis 30 for 30 was pretty good to me.. or maybe a video about the spirits of St. Louis would be dope and tie Marvin into it regardless cause he was a beast those last to ABA seasons even while still not being really motivated or not seeming to try hard or just be more focused with off court shit

made me think how it was a lot easier then to just focus on building a team, seeing that even seattle had some serious collection of great talent too. it seems now that the great pieces you could have had together in this era, it's like now you just got two max slots then one of these pieces and the rest just whoever would take minimum contracts. but then having a bunch of players together that could be getting overpaid for having ok but not superstar game was more doable, they didn't overpay to get a free agent or retain one but the game as far as business has really ruined the innocence of the game it used to be those some decades ago.

I consider Harper to be one of the absolute best players never to be an all-star. He, along with Rolando Blackman, were usually considered to be the best starting backcourt of the late 80s to '90. Dumars/Isiah, and Magic/Byron Scott were the other standout starting backcourts of those late 80s. As a Lakers fan, Harper would give Magic Johnson trouble on defense. I remember Harper thrashing the Rockets backcourt in the 1994 Finals; had it not been for Olajuwon, The Knicks would have won.

he retired playing his last year hoping that he'd win a ring with the lakers. i think also the lakers thought it was a good pickup because he'd be that mentor sort of paternal presence there who could actually speak against anyone in that locker even Kobe. a guy like him if he had more in the tank or even greg anthony would have probably made a difference with keeping that core together, though B Shaw and Foxie were supposedly those guys, they still weren't those guys that Kobe had that class of his own respect for. who knows, but even D Fish was considered one of Kobe's die hard teammates and he couldn't hold it together for the core group either.
