Hi! Derek, Thank you for the wonderful lessons for a long time. As for the 'give in', I have a question. How much is it polite? Is it okay to use when I accept the discounted cost my client suggests? My client always wants to get lower in cost. So whenever I suggest the cost, they suggest the reduced cost. Could I replace 'give in' with 'accept'?

Hi there! Good question. It's not impolite but it is quite informal, so it depends on the relationship between you and your client. If you have a very informal, friendly relationship, you could use it instead of accept. Hope that answers your question.

Derek Callan - English for Professionals the expression that saying would do the right arm for / to do sth. And what if someone who has a left hand writing, will that one have to change from the right arm to the left arm?
@derekcallan-englishforpros
@derekcallan-englishforpros 4 жыл бұрын
@@jiraphornprabtuk2248 Of course! Now I understand your question! It doesn't matter which hand you write with, we always say "I would give my right arm to ..." If you wanted to change it, and say "i would give my left arm to ...", people who are familiar with this expression would probably still understand, but they may find it a little funny. Hope that answers your question!
