A race between Barry and Wally almost tore apart the multiverse, and Thawne is stated to be faster than BOTH. But you also kinda left out the worst part about him. The reason that he kinda went insane was also because he idolized Barry. When Thawne initially gained his new powers, he decided to be just like him, but he instead faked crimes and accidents just to show up and save the day. Naturally Barry didn't approve of this when he decided to travel to the 23rd century, and he eventually confronted Thawne about it, and it ended in the fight. Disgraced, Thawne decided to tey and redeem himself, and eventually went back to Barry's time to try and patch things up. Until be foind that Barry had a best friend. And a family. And a life. One without him. Basically, he didn't matter to him at all, he was a basic nobody. If you realized that you never really mattered to someone you cared deeply about, and then found you were meant to be their greatest enemy, you'd probably be driven mad too. Probably. But wait! Theres more! The cherry on top of the nail on the coffin! During the fates final battle between Barry and Thawne, Barry demanded to know why he did all he did, and Thawnes' genuine, heartfelt response? It was the only way to spend time with him. To wrap up, I think Death Battle! Of all things sums up his story pretty well: Wiz: His costume says it all. He never intended to be the Reverse-Flash. He wanted to be the Kid Flash. All Thawne ever really desired was to be by Barry's side. Boomstick: In the end though, goody-little-two-shoes Barry forgave him. And then vibrated away his living paradox powers, erasing him from existence! Wiz: Though not entirely. Barry didn't kill Thawne. He reset his timeline, removing the one thing driving his hatred: his relationship with Barry. Without that, Thawne was a normal, happy Flash fan once again. Boomstick: It's comics, Wiz, he'll be back. And when he does, there'll be no running. He'll always be faster, he'll always catch you, and time is always on his side.

You know what would be like a good karma twist story? Reverse Flash after initially trying to make it so the Flash never exists, then stops himself realizing that doing this would prevent himself as the Reverse Flash from existing. Therefore, Reverse Flash then decides to make every day and moment of Barry's life miserable. Imagine, after Reverse Flash starts on this crusade and torments Barry ever since he was a kid all the way into his adulthood, but then all these events that Reverse F;lash did with intentions to make Barry's life miserable, eventually lead to actually Barry never becoming the Flash, causing the Reverse Flash to never exist.
