I Had self diagnosed DH .. figured it from Dr.Sheri Lieberman’s book after chasing help from the MD world ( a top notch dermatologist included , who offered no efficacious help) -I was absolutely MISERABLE. The rash was on my legs and arms and itching was crazy intense. I quit gluten and started seeing a positive reaction within two weeks. Thank you Jennifer for your work.. great show ❤️

I have alopecia and coming to the realization I’ve always had celiac since I was diagnosed when I was 7. 32 now and finally making those changes. If only we were more gluten conscious back then… can’t wait to be gluten free.

I’m currently taking Dapsone to clear up a miserable case of dermatitis herpetiformis. First experience of DH in 22 years of strict GF diet. I can only assume it was caused by accidental cross contamination and therefore only a miniscule amount of gluten was involved.

What’s interesting is that a lot of my clients have been getting a myriad of skin conditions diagnosed as a result of hormone imbalance but they don’t feel or look better with HRT until I help them implement effective personalized lifestyle changes. After that, they have no need for prescriptions. Many of my people prefer not being dependent on prescriptions and enjoy the flexibility of traveling globally with a light carry on.

Did the carnivore diet after hearing about it, then had relief for the first time in years. Thats how i knew it was diet related and not atopic dermatitis. Then slowly added stuff and checked on the rash till i knew for sure it was gluten. It sucks to have DH, but hey atleast my skin is back to normal.

I’ve had bad eczema since I was a child (30yrs old now) but the last 2 years I’ve started to get two itchy fingers on my right hand. It’s the strangest thing to me that it’s only those two fingers, and not any others though. (It’s the middle and ring finger.) I eventually noticed that I get tiny blistery bumps on them and those are what itch and then will break open and be a sore. About a year ago after some internet research I learned about DH and thought maybe that’s it. So I started attempting to cut gluten. Took me a while to realize how many things it was hidden in like sauces and stuff so I wasn’t completely gf. Eventually after I got better about knowing what had gluten in it my fingers seemed to get better and now they occasionally seem to flair up still. I do still eat fries which I know are cross contaminated so I’m wondering if that’s enough to be affecting me or if I’m getting exposed to hidden gluten still sometimes in other stuff. After watching this though I do wonder if there’s something more going on too. My regular eczema has seemed to be better just with occasional flares since trying to be gf so idk. I need to finally talk to my doctor about it, I haven’t yet because in the past with my eczema they just want to give me steroids and I don’t want that route any more. I do have some Gi issues that I’ve had since I was a teenager too but I don’t think I’d say that it’s gotten 100% better with going gf, maybe a little but my diet still hasn’t been great overall so I’m sure there’s more that needs worked on there.

Can you have DH even if a blood test is negative for celiac?

Yes, in my case it's happened

Yes. It is not only present in those with actual celiac. It shows up in people with gluten sensitivity. Absolute abstinence from gluten is required.

I have suffered so strongly for a little over a year that I would want to throw my arms around your neck if you gave me a solution! (Promise I would refrain however.) You mention several points that make my problem more likely this than anything else I have found. And i have researched, researched, researched. Allergist and Dermatologist tried creams. Did biopsy then didn't believe it. I took an IgG antibody sensitivity test many years ago that was right on the money for certain foods, have always avoided gluten bc of allergy to yeast and have hypoglycemia, have low thyroid and at one time test showed high antibodies for Hashimoto's. Have avoided flour for decades but have eaten oats off & on. So tired of "don't scratch, use this expensive cream, you're fine, see you next year, " while I'm having spasms of horrendous, nerve killing itching all night long. Thank you so much for this video. Gives me hope.

The problem with gluten free products is some aren't truly gluten free ( cross contamination) and many are junk.

So it is food related... How is food not the problem for any skin issues? Gotta be in denial to think this way! In 2024, it's crazy
@jenfugo
@jenfugo 2 ай бұрын
In this particular case, you're dealing with a skin manifestation of celiac disease. Other skin issues have different and varied triggers. Food could be one of the triggers in those instances, but often it's one of 3-6 problems driving the issue. This isn't a black and white topic, so while I appreciate what you're saying, there's a great deal more complexity... DH is different from other diagnoses so you can't just take one piece of this and apply it to every other condition.
