Just a warning- there is no proof that skinbetter synthetic retinol (alpharet overnight) is actually activating retinoid receptors. Their research is based on “retinol is anti-aging” and “aha works great in skin” so “let’s combine the two and call it a day. The fact it does anything to the skin is probably coming from the glycolic acid that is first on the ingredient list.

If you use mineral sunscreen and apply the proper amount for effective sun protection (a lot), your face will look like you have a semi transparent white mask. The only way to hide that is a layer of makeup on top. This is just unfeasible for most guys or anyone with oily skin. I keep checking various sunscreen brands, but I always go back to Clinique, their sunscreens and moisturizers with sunscreen are just superb.

Love this and love that I use most of these 🤣 I use the alto advanced- it says am/pm. Do you use it twice a day? I have been and don’t have any irritation or anything like that-just feel like I’m going through it so fast. And $$$!!! But it definitely has made a huge difference in my skin!!! The alto, retin-a, and sunscreen has made my skin so much better and now I am comfortable leaving the house without a full face of makeup on!

Awesome info! As someone who sweats a lot,, has super-sensitive skin, and is old(er) - 65 - what do you recommend for washing your face at night to remove water-resistant sunscreen? I only use fragrance-free, EO-free products. I now use an oil and then Vanicream Gentle Cleanser. Is there an alternative to using an oil? I have yet to find a good alternative to double cleansing. To boild it down, what do you rec for removing water-resistant sunscreens (on the face) at night, by different skin types.

My derm recently recommended the Revision 30% vitamin c serum, it’s got the highest percentage of vit c I’ve ever seen in a skincare product, but this also costs like $150+ 🤣🤣 I want to ask if the percentage of vit-c determines how effective it is, and if it’s going to be better than my current vit c serum (it’s the Vichy vit c with 20%). And if you have experience with revision skincare, since it’s highly endorsed by a lot of derm offices. Thanks so much doc!❤

Dr. I really need your advice. I used to use Ancanya and Epiduo Forte but with my new insurance i had issues for them covering it 😢So I had to tweak and add benzol peroxide acne duo La Roche in the mix so in the AM: I use the foaming La Roche Posay cleanser, Clindamycin Phosphate gel topical antibiotic then spot treat with benzol peroxide acne DUO and La Roche Posay Matt moisturizer with the Elta MD sunscreen you mentioned. PM: Same cleanser then Adapalene La Roche Posay then moisturizer. Am I doing something wrong or should I use another cleanser like any of the ones you mentioned here? PLS HELP ME I am very confused and I have oily combo skin acne prone and cant seem to have a good routine to keep the acne away now without the Epiduo or Ancanya. Thank you for your time!

Nice! All of these could be done but instead of using the AlphaRet here, use your Olay retinol at bedtime and you probably don’t need a moisturizer after it unless you’re very dry!

Great question! It can be for those with sensitive skin and so if you’re a beginner and with sensitive skin, may need to alternate days of use and not use on same day. I always say benzoyl peroxide cleansers are gentler with tret than leave-on BPO products

I saw a video from another derm here on KZbin who said she uses Neutrogena body oil as kind of a double cleanse like you would on your face with a cleansing oil or balm (put the oil in dry skin, then wash with cleanser/body wash). I tried it and it works pretty well. Just watch your step in the shower after, the floor gets kind of slippery!
