Thanks for doing this. The problem with drugstore sunscreens for me is that they are getting more expensive than some that you can only find at Ulta. For example, the Neutrogena tinted is $20 for 1 ounce. The Cotz tinted minerals are $27 for 2.5 oz. And Kinship Self Reflect is $28 for 1.7. Granted, the drugstore is coming out with nice things lately - multiple shades, etc. But I thought drugstore was supposed to be more accessible and affordable. Everyone needs to wear daily sunscreen and properly reapply, but some of us need more affordable options that don't sting our eyes and faces, but don't leave us looking like a ghost in order to do that. I love your videos!

I’ve noticed this as well. I guess because of the demand the go up? But as someone who has sensitive skin and eyes it’s irritating to find one that doesn’t look like white face paint. I usually love Cetaphil so I bought one advertised as "sheer" with high ratings at first glance. When I got home and put it on I literally looked like a clown. The stuff wouldn’t even blend or hide under makeup and I was already late for my date. I know I guess I should have done more research but I guess you can’t trust no ratings up front. Even my white friends don’t want it lol.

Im a big fan of the Australian gold tinted sunscreen. I originally tried the medium shade and it was sheer enough that it looked fine on my face but didn’t match my neck well so I gave it to a friend and got the fair shade. I work 12+ hour shifts in the hospital under intense lights and I have naturally oily skin so pretty much any other sunscreen I’ve tried (even “matte” ones) make me look really shiny. This one is really nice and matte. On days I’m feeling like having a bit less tint and/or more UV coverage I will layer a nontinted sunscreen under. Even the ones that make me look shiny will get mattified by the AG when I layer it on top. It’s also vegan and cruelty free which are two things I try to really stick to with my hair and skincare whenever possible. Between all that and the low cost, I’m really happy with this product!

Same! I’m a very oily gal and AG, and the Cetaphil redness relief SPF 20, have been the only sunscreens I’ve found that don’t make me shiny. I usually use AG first, and then put Cetaphil on top as my “foundation”. Those layered together give medium-ish coverage - just add concealer to cover my dark circles, powder to set, and I’m good to go.

My issue with tinted sunscreen is that while brands seem to think they are being more inclusive by making mineral sunscreen more accessible, they are patting themselves on the back for doing the least. Most have tints that are light beige. Beige tint is not 'universal' I need a dark brown tint to be effective. They should make more options for tint colors.

Personally, my favorite is the Australian Gold. I have dry/aging skin, but I don't find this drying as long as I use a moisturizer under it and it plays well with my moisturizer...which not every sunscreen does. My big criteria in a sunscreen is SPF 45+ (30 just doesn't cut it for my fair skin living in Texas), a natural/matte finish, reef safe, and a true drugstore price. Once you're getting up to $30 for a sunscreen, it's not drugstore in my book. All that said, I had been thinking about trying the La Roche Posay a while back and this video is making me consider it again.

@@AimzP I have a medium neutral skin tone and I think it works fine on my skin. I can see why it would pull more orange on others especially if they’re fair, though. Sometimes, during the summer I actually find the tint to be lighter on me and I get a bit of a white cast. I’m OK with it tho because I find it disappears or blends in throughout the day. The coverage is very sheer like a skin tint, not a foundation. I only apply once and am good with it- if I am out in the sun for too long I don’t use tinted spf to begin with and just go straight for a strong water resistant sunscreen. I do find topping up the spf with a sun stick works well with it though.

Also, Sunbum and MD Solar Science in shade light have become my absolute favorites, and I tried almost all tinted sunscreens. They work best for maturing skin. I'm 41 and they make me look much younger because they hide wrinkles because of dimethicone. While shiny mineral sunscreens highlight and exaggerate wrinkles and make me look my age. I also have just purchased Elta MD Physical. Like the two above mentioned sunscreens it looks most natural on the skin, as if I'm not wearing anything, but it evens out the skin tone and covers my rosacea. I didn't like Elta MD UV Elements as much because the shade was a bit dark for me.

Just a note that the SPF number on the label doesn't tell the full story. The SPF 50 Australian Gold one has active ingredients of 4% titanium dioxide and 4% zinc oxide. But if you look at the SPF 20 Cetaphil one you'll see the active ingredients are 10.1% titanium dioxide and 7.8% zinc oxide...far higher! If anyone can explain why having half the percentage of active ingredients can somehow lead to a far higher SPF, please let me know. I suppose the inactive ingredients could have somewhat of an influence, but I feel very skeptical knowing that sunscreen SPFs are known to be unreliable.

As long as I used a moisturizer under it, it was great - wore all day and served as my foundation. As soon as I hit menopause and my skin became drier, I couldn't wear it anymore. It felt so dry, almost like my face was shrink-wrapped! I tried the Neutrogena one in "light" but for some reason, it made my face itch, and I couldn't wash it off quickly enough. Sadly, I tossed it. 😢

I've been using the Neutrogena all summer. I have pretty light skin but find the medium shade works better for me (no, I don't tan for the obvious reason). Unlike you Abbey, as much as I do love it, I do have a couple of issues with it. 1. It's MESSY! The tube gets covered with product and unless it's left upside down and the cap TIGHT, it will leak. It's also ends up all over my vanity and other makeup products. 2. The size of the tube is WAY too small! If you're using it every day-which you should, and using it as your foundation, which I do, it doesn't last very long. I had been going to try to switch it up and try something else but I do love it and now with it being you're favorite, I think I'll keep using and hope for the best. I cannot seem to find a foundation that doesn't streak or look like I powdered my face and tinted sunscreen does the trick! I used No 7 Skin Perfector for the longest time but they stopped making it not long ago, that was the only other thing that didn't get cakey on me. The natural light is great, I really like it, good choice! Thanks, have a great day!

It looks amazing. If I need more coverage I use the Maybelline Rewind Concealer around my eyes, nose and cheeks (and everywhere there’s a shadow or imperfection). The concealer really brightens up my face! The Australian Gold is super drying and I feel it on my face. Unfortunately, I can’t wait to wash most mineral sunscreens OFF my face! Yuk! But I don’t feel the Neutrogena ones at all. And it doesn’t sting my eyes. ALSO love the tinted mineral one by DRMTLGY SPF 46. It’s slightly more coverage than the Neutrogena, but only comes in one shade (similar to the Neutrogena “medium” shade). So I also mix these two.

Ok I had to pause the video and tell you Abbey your hair color is amazing. Not sure if it's the natural light in your studio or what, but wow! Love it 🙂

They listened about the SPF for Cetaphil. That's what one of my besties uses in SPF 40.

I know you technically are not supposed to mix sunscreens, but I use the deep Australian Gold to perfect tinted sunscreen and/or mask untinted mineral sunscreen. It makes the ghost mask less noticeable. Just a tiny amount makes a great difference.

I love the new setup ❤ my only suggestion would be to decorate a bit more behind you. But of course that is a personal opinion you may be perfectly happy with it 😊 Love this video always looking for a good drugstore sunscreen

I have tried so many and Australian Gold is the one I love the most. It worked best when I had dry skin and oily skin.

I've tried the Australian Gold and it felt dry and tight. I've also tried the Cerave and it doesn't seem to dry down and stays wet. I need something in between!

Have you tried the Hero Cosmetics Force Shield Superbeam? It is amazing…light water like texture, can’t feel it on my skin and it’s mineral. I normally stay away from any glowy products but this one is subtle and works great under makeup or with a light dust of SPF powder on its own! It is amazing

You must review Dr. Jart’s premium BB tinted moisturizer with spf 40!! This lays better than my dior foundation and covers everything up so nicely! I’m just about to repurchase too which never happens. 😅

I work outside and have been looking for a water resistant tinted sunscreen and omg when I saw the Neutrogena one was water resistant I purchased it immediately, thank you for this video!

Would you consider any/all of these a moisturizer as well? The reason I love the DRMTLGY sunscreen is because it’s also a moisturizer so I feel like I’m getting 2 products in one 🥰

I'm happy you did a video like this because I get overwhelmed with all the sunscreen options and what has beneficial sun protection and what doesn't. I was using Paula's Choice and love it but if some would make my skin look better, have good protection, and skin loving ingredients - I'm on board.

Two of the best I've ever used-Paula's choice wrinkle defense and skin1004 Centella tinted SPF. I wish pc was cheaper but it's just so good. It's just hard to find pale friendly SPF. It's always orange
@lydia125 Жыл бұрын
Same here. PC is the best I've found. But very drying If you don't layer it under a thick moisturizer which is fine. Or thick heavy non tinted spf is my fave. It will matiffy but not dry w that combo. I have very fair skin and even the PC gives me a little glow. I love it.

I love the natural light setup! Thanks for trying out so many tinted sunscreens! You give such great product reviews, and having tried many of these, I agree with your thoughts. I've been meaning to try the new neutrogena sunscreen so now I'm even more excited to see how it works for me. Thank you!

I've been using the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen for a while now, but it is a bit too drying for me in the winter. I usually use the lightest shade as the base and the tan one as kind of a bronzer. It's one of the only tinted sunscreens that I've found doesn't look chalky on my skin. I'm hoping the neutrogena one will work for me during the winter. Thank you for the video!

Curious: What spf 50 do you typically use under your tinted mineral sunscreens??
