Oh mannn, I was so down with myself about composition in my photographs. It's dull, boring, and more importantly, I don't know why. It feels like when I put the camera to my eye, I am stuck to the rules and I don't know how to break it. The wolve and the elk explanation, I was like Whoa!! this is good stuff. This content is pure gold. I'd love Matthew to give us some tips on how to direct motion graphics sequences. I'll be more specific: After I'm happy with a shot I've composed, I struggle a bit with figuring out if the next shot should be a close-up, general or mid shot; if it should include some sort of camera movement and such... In my head, I'm thinking of Cinema 4D projects, but this applies to any kind of audiovisual piece, really.

Thanks alot and hope to see more "get to the point" and practical videos.

Totally spot on thinking type as a shape. I wish I knew it sooner I always thought they were two separate objects but now if i want to match type to logos perfectly I just look at what characteristics the logo has , its line thickness, of it has any curves. Are the strokes rounded or pointed. This all helps to match type. Great video

Excellent video! In example 1, I was also wondering if our preconception or established notion about which the predator and prey are between the two animals helped to shape our interpretation of the composition whichever way you flipped it (foreground or background). Just a thought because if we were to replace those animals with anything else, that interpretation may not be obvious. Another thought - the stance of both animals also tell a story - one looks to be advancing stealthily while the other appears to look up scared. If the wolf were to be looking up and the elf had its horns bent down as if charging forward, then we may interpret differently. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Lovely instruction video overall and am adding this to my arsenal of knowledge.Many thanks

@thefutur8 жыл бұрын
Which do you prefer? Print or video as a learning platform?
@Uniqleedesigned8 жыл бұрын
I usually prefer video, but I found both to be very effective. The print version was well organized and contained a ton of info and graphics that helped illustrate the point visually, and the video was well organized, paced and communicated clearly as well. For the subject of teaching a design theory, I found that the print version with graphics and images more effective of getting the point across. For tutorials such as "how to 3D track a camera" or "how to manipulate the curve editor in AE", I definitely prefer video!
