Hey Oliver, as long as you have your text layer, and text tool selected, you should be able to click and drag your mouse to highlight your text. If you are still experiencing difficulty with this however, please let us know what version of Photoshop you are working in and we can certainly help you further with this!

You could also merge the layers, however this tutorial was also showing viewers how to use the action tool so they can easily store and replicate their actions :)

We do not work in Gimp ourselves, so I am unable to confirm how much you might be able to replicate, however as this tutorial uses fonts and PNG images, you should certainly be able to work with these freebies in Gimp :).

Hey Leticia, depending on what colours and gradients you have applied in the previous steps, you may end up with slightly different colours, so you can certainly experiment with different effects to find a result that suits you.
