I think you should start in the family room. It'll be a mess and expensive but you'll get to enjoy it the rest of the year. Plus the other projects will seem like they're no big deal. If not the the family room, then the laundry room. Having a space that works for you, will make laundry more manageable.

Do the laundry room. Go with the light cabinets. Since they will be up high you don’t want the space to feel closed in with dark cabinets. Also, I’ve had the stackable W/D and won’t have another front load washer again. Why don’t you just put the extra frig in the garage instead. I think the w/d and frig together will also make the room feel so much more crowded. You should team up with Clutterbug to help you organize. She can help you find your organizing style so you can do it and maintain it.

@Clutterbug on YT!! If I were you, I would focus on organizing & purging what you don't need. Then when you've cleaned everything up, then you can see where you should begin your reno's.

In the laundry room use light color so it doesn’t feel closed in. Also have you thought of elevating your washer and dryer about 24” or maybe a little more so you can save your back? Then you can have storage under and also pull out platforms in front of the units for laundry baskets . Also upper cabinets are necessary. On the stairs use a beautiful carpet runner up the center of them and ending at the landing. I made my own carpets bars with dowel rods and candle cups and pipe brackets as holders. I painted them gold and the cost for each was $3 instead of $18 which I would have paid for each one if I didn’t make them and had to buy them. In the family room please talk your husband out of that built in!! I agree with you and it has to go.

1.son’s room; 2. Bathroom especially as it is used by guests as well as family; 3. Stairs-NO pattern. The runner type with the rods holding each step; 4. Family room and yes that “beast” must go. The window seats sounds wonderful but a practical me thinks finding areas for the kids to work makes the most sense. Just my opinion based on what it sounds like your needs are. Can’t wait to watch!!!!!

I vote for your son's room first. Kids grow up too fast. Definitely get the laundry area done. Since it is a smaller room, i would go with lighter colors. Sounds great on the stackable washer and dryer and an extra frigerator. Then the family room. Then the bathroom then stairways. Your description of the stairways sounds great. I have always been a fan of wooden stairs with runner. Look forward to seeing your projects.

You chose my comment to feature! ❤ How exciting!! Love you so much, NataLee! Ok, definitely need to start with the easiest, quickest, lower budget projects/rooms and complete those first! That way you can really hone in on the more involved, higher budget projects like that monstrosity in your family room! Sorry Greg! But NataLee is right (obviously)! 😉 That thing needs to go! And you trust her judgment enough to know she will install a fabulous unit that makes sense for the space and the room that the entire family can appreciate and find use of! And you will love it more bc she built/designed it! 😊 NataLee, thank you for your authenticity! Showing your laundry room in its current state is very bold to do. It is real life though as you have stated. I feel more relaxed to know that you have rooms in your home that are a work in progress or catch all room like many of us do too! Excited to complete projects alongside you in 2025! ❤🎉

I agree start with your son's room. Then he can enjoy it when you do the rest of the house. An option and I know they cost a little bit, but they have a good warranty as well speed queen has a front loader. I agree with you as far as another refrigerator as overflow and beverages. You have a busy home and that would be so nice for you. We have a backup refrigerator and it is so helpful. The only thing is I wish it was on my main floor and I didn't have to go off late as stairs to get to it. When you talk about putting cheetah, print on your steps as carpet. My thought was. Are you better to accent with your really bold? Fun patterns and keep your carpet something that you can work with, so if you want to change out anething a carpet is a little more spending to change. I'm excited to see what you get done in this coming year. I think it always turns out ever so beautiful. I was thinking of that space that your husband loves in your family room. What happened? If you made some kind of pull out, drawers had nice paneled fronts but had some kind of pull out for storage so it could look pretty in the way you want it to but also have the capability of easy storage for your family with all their gaming and activities. I have 3 sons and later had a daughter. So I understand all that business and our house was the hangout place with all their friends and it was so nice when I could figure out a way to quickly. Have them put things away and have it a quick tidy.

There’s a little saying that helps me move forward on task that seem overwhelming! I begin ponder on ALL THE THINGS that I need to get done and it’s like my brain shuts down and I can’t seem to organize it all into a plan! Here’s what I’ve learned… “TO EAT THE FROG FIRST” 🐸 🐸 🐸 That’s right the “FROG”. It’s the one you keep procrastinating to do! It’s important to address that FIRST on your List! When you learn to Eat the Frog first, everything that follows seems easier!!!! It’s not always the easiest to do, but awe, it’s a weight off your shoulders that really makes a difference! Good Luck and Eat The Frog First! 🐸

I think I would tackle the family room since it is difficult but mostly because you need the desk area for your sons and because that is the room you use the most. I love the taupe colour for the laundry room but I don’t think I would put the refrigerator in there but rather the garage if that happens to be close to the kitchen. All after your son’s room, oh and I would do the bathroom before the stairwell and then the laundry room. Kinda do one that is not as involved and not as much realizing that they are all big projects. You look so pretty in your white sweater and always wearing your pretty smile. ❤

My craft and diy projects almost never go smoothly and sometimes it's very discouraging, especially when a lot of people on youtube seem to breeze right through their projects (because that's what they want you to see). I feel like the laundry room and bathroom projects might be quicker and easier to check off your list. A room or two completely done would motivate me to keep going.

I say based on need and cost I would personally do this order (hopefully I don't forget any) 1. Sons room 2. Family room 3. Laundry room Because these all need change for function and obviously your sons room just so he has a finished space. 4. Bathroom 5. Stairs 6. Kitchen. I say this last because then possibly it will be closer to the time of your planned full renovation so your plans can work as more towards the permanent renovation design but works even if it's not being completed right away. I feel like this order also takes cost into consideration and alternating expensive vs less expensive! Hope it helps! Cant wait to see them all!

I love the space you have in the laundry room ! I would put the tallest cabinets above the washer and dryer to store anything that needs to be in a cool and safe space but that I don’t need everyday. Love to see what you end up doing! ❤❤❤

Your son will be thrilled to have his room finished. The laundry room, stackables and a fridge. Maybe a fridge you might want for your kitchen later? I do love the black cabinets. Maybe what color are you going to put in the kitchen? I do like when all the cabinets in a house are the same color. Then that monster tv thing in the family room. It’s bad. I get that it might work. However, maybe it is just too big. Too deep. I can’t exactly explain what I mean. It’s ginormous! 😂 addressing that in some way is a must I think.

Light color for the bathroom. Front loader washers need to have the door cracked open when not in use to prevent mold. Think about being crowded into the corner to get into your washer and dryer. You may want to start letting your boys fold and hang up their own laundry. I'd do son's room first, laundry, then bathroom. Leave the dining room chairs with the cheetah print. It looks great there and not overwhelming.

You've got some amazing ideas for the different rooms, Natalee. For your laundry room, I think you're wise adding stackable washer and dryers so you can put in an additional refrigerator. We have had a front loading washer and dryer for 17 years and I've loved it immensely. We have never had any problems with either one of them and they've washed clothes perfectly. I have never regretted getting the front loaders. I say what I do about putting in another refrigerator though because we started out with a side-by-side refrigerator like you have currently in your kitchen and they just do not have a lot of space in the refrigerator. When ours developed a problem that couldn't be fixed, we got a French Door Refrigerator, and what a difference in inside refrigerator space! And there is also a lot more room in the freezer section as well. Your laundry room doesn't look like it is very big, so although the black cabinetry is beautiful I'm afraid it is likely to close in that space more. Once the laundry gets dumped in there (I raised 3 boys and know how they can be), I'm not sure you'd see the beauty in the space anymore because of it closing in on you. The lighter, brighter laundry room would be much happier and more inviting space to work in, in my opinion. I love your ideas for the downstairs bathroom. Having the sink in an old dresser or something similar would look terrific in there. I'd suggest you start with the laundry room simply because unfortunately laundry is a basic necessity of our lives, so you might as well do it in a beautiful room.

Wow Natalie you have a lot of large projects. I’m looking forward to following your journey. I’d say start with the room you feel will be the most rewarding to you. My vote would be the kitchen and laundry room since they are used so much. Looking forward to it all!

Hey. Ease up on ur organizational skills or lack there of. Most very artistic people, do not find organization ez!! It’s the other, less dominant side of the brain that those skills come from. If u are going to find someone to help u there, make sure they specialize with peeps like us!! Who, yes, do like our spaces organized however we often don’t have time to stop in the middle of our creativity, to accomplish that. Remember the Lord God made us with strengths and weaknesses. There’s no shame in ur organization game. Hehe. Can’t wait to see all ur new ideas for this 2025. And on that note HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Ps. I hate the laundry too. Lolol

Definitely think you should finish your son’s room first. The others are based on your family needs. I would suggest animal print somehow in the bathroom. It is you! Don’t worry about using it in multiple places if you can find tasteful ways to use it. Love all your ideas! 💙💙💙

I really love the idea of the black cabinets in the laundry room, i carnt wait to see which room you start first, and a big "THANK YOU " to you for encouraging us ladys to do things we wouldn't normally do. In the next month or so im going to have a go at doing wall panels in my bedroom and getting my son to help me. But my first mission is to build a Media unit in my living room, feeling quite nervous about that, but thank you for all the great content you do, HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉 🎉😂 to you and your lovely family 🎆🥰

Go with white and bright. Your kitchen has dark cabinets, your work area is all black cabinets with black boxes on top. You need to make that space light and bright put some nice fake flowers and some artwork and it will make doing the laundry a lot easier. They moved to a new home. That’s exactly what I did and I really do see a difference. I don’t mind doing the laundry at all. Even my husband is doing the laundry now to help out. Try it I think you’ll love it. You can always change it later. Love all you Vlogs you’re a doll you encourage me so much.

I’m sitting here in my craft room. I decided that I needed to organize but all I’ve managed to do is pull everything out and now I’m sitting in such a mess, taking a break watching you. I tend to vacillate between extreme styles and colors too. I’m loving the deep dark colors you shared with the gold accent hardware. I love that you keep it so real! God bless you, have a blessed day!💜💕

I would recommend a separate refrigerator and separate freezer for the kitchen. I think that looks very high-end in your kitchen. This way, you can keep the washer and dryer below the counter, which I think will stop the tall walls from feeling like they are falling in on you, and more space for upper cabinet.😊

Happy New Year Natalie, I like both the dark and light cabinets in your laundry room, but think the black/gold is more elegant and keeps with the theme that you are going with in your house. What about a tall, skinny fridge which might allow a cabinet in-between the fridge, stackable washer/dryer? Will be waiting to see how it turns out.

Hi Natalee, I love how you are so real! I would go with the light grey for the laundry room. I also love the stacking washer and dryer allowing for room for a refrigerator or freezer. I love the idea of a dresser as the sink in the bathroom. It would really stand out as the focal point in the room. I can't wait to see all these projects come to fruition. My vote is the laundry room as the first project...start small when you have so much on your plate and don't know where to begin. This will get the ball rolling 😁

I would go light colored cabinets in laundry room. I like the extra refrigerator in there. Do son's room first, kids grow up fast and he has been waiting. Guest bathroom second. I love how real you are.
