I didn't realize you had drifted away from character design because these videos didn't do well. Your character swap videos and character design based on original text were the reason I fell in love with this channel! So people please like/watch this and other character design videos because in my opinion they truly are the best and it's something I've been missing a lot from this channel!!

Of the 4 new faction members we didn't see fully fleshed out in this video, I personally like: - The Judge - The Plague Doctor - The Witch or The Oni - The Insect Queen or The Blob I quite like The Blob in particular since it allows for some unique physical properties, opens the doorway for something like shapeshifting into different forms, and healers are always a good archetype to have around, especially early on.

I HAVE FEEDBACK/ A PITCH! You should add resin rings around the bases of the minis in the colour of their faction. Your minis are great for painting as you’ve shown but there is a lot of minis and not everyone’s going to paint them. I’m scared for non artists this game will be difficult to play because there will be no difference between the minis at a glance leading to trouble identifying who’s controlling who. (I know they have unique models but in practice it’ll just be a sea of detailed gray). So I suggest adding a small resin ring on each mini in the colour of the faction. That would make identifying the character easy and not take away any of the important detail you’ve done such a good job on, because it’s a separate piece it can be taken off and the mini can be painted as normal without any risk of damage. A game called “UnMatched Battle of Legends” does something similar to this and they have some of the best minis in the business. Love your Art BTW. 👍

Seconding this idea! It'll make gameplay for the newer initiates easier, since you don't have to remember each of the characters (yet!). And it'll let you tell the board state at a glance.

I think you're confused, when the game comes out the minis will definitely be manufactured with color lol, tho I do like the idea of the rings in the colour of their faction

​@leoguarisma that would be really unusual for this style of game and jazza has spoken about how he is keen to see how ppl paint them I think it's more likely they get printed in a solid colour based on what faction they are in maybe a colour for the base and a colour for the mini but every step adds alot of cost

It's 3 minis per side, that is really NOT a lot at all... other skirmish games tend to have around 6 on average & 10 at the extreme. As for them being pre-colored... as someone else already mentioned that is very uncommon for this space, & while I get that it's a barrier to entry for folks outside the wargaming hobby-space it's also a HUGE turnoff for people already in that space. Not only are you denying the core audience the ability to do their own paintjobs, but the existing pre-painted mini lines don't exactly have a good reputation for quality. I get it, I really do, painting your 1st few minis can be scary, but you don't need to be an artist & it's a lot easier than it looks, there are cheat techniques galore for folks without an art background (trust me, I'm as far from an artist as one can imagine) " I’m scared for non artists this game will be difficult to play because there will be no difference between the minis at a glance leading to trouble identifying who’s controlling who." This really WON'T be a problem... it's not that hard to tell unpainted minis apart in general, & Jazza & crew are making each character SUPER distinctive. So long as each player isn't using the same hero, there will be no confusion as to who is who.

I have the mental image of her being a sweet old granny to allies, while to enemies she talks more in the manner that one would think they stole a cookie from the cookie jar, rather than trying to kill her

Maybe a combination of Olenna Tyrell - a sharp politician, that can accurately predict futures and people's behavior. But ultimately a mother like figure that wants things to grow. Combined with the fun and lightness of a Tom Bombadil.

I feel the Sniper as a real glass cannon - deadly at a distance but always in real danger once enemies come close - is something I would love to play. Maybe make her a LITERAL class cannon! An almost invisible assassin made of glass or crystal...

Maybe someone who is very sickly and because of their closeness to death and almost dying all the time, they became obsessed with the concept, making them an assassin. with the intent of passing onto others what is inevitable for them, this character deals an insane amount of damage from a distance but has low hp. Also on the same trail of thought maybe the character can take damage from it's already diminished health pool to guarantee a kill

I like that you went with the more human looking concept. I think Groot stole the tree people spotlight and that is the first thing your mind goes to when you see a character like that. And I like that the Alpha faction looks like beings that could live on Mt. Olympus.

I find it really funny how this character started from an old gardener lady and ended up as this super joyful dancing elf with a flower on it’s head 😂 I liked the idea of this eternal gardener lady, but for some reason it was immediately ditched and instead went to an ent or a dancing elf ! It’s fun and I’m sure the miniature is going to look good too, but I’m sad this initial version of this woman didn’t get any further.

My favs from each faction: Alpha - I like the dragon, but also the gardener. I feel like they could essentially be fused into one character, maybe the gardener is a dragon using polymorph. Or shes some angelic dragon-folk gardener. Omega - it’s the plague doctor, it’ll always be the plague doctor! Epoch - I like the arbitrator thematically, gives a Judge Dredd meets FF12 judges. The little aquatic alien in a tank is fun af tho and is def second pick. Drasi - love the witch, sexy-creepy witches are always a great archetype. Corpus - the hive mind. I love hive mind insectoid races, nothing says sci-fi fantasy more than an ever consuming hive mind. Edit: disregard everything I said abt the gardener. She’s fantastic as an old portly elf. Love it! 👌🏽👌🏽

The game is looking incredible! It's so fun to see these characters and worlds come to life. Out of the 4 other factions my favorites are, The Plague Doctor, the Small Aquatic alien driving a tank (maybe he can only breathe underwater and so needs an aquatic breathing suit). The Drasi witch, those long arms seem so cool! And the fountain of youth slime blob. I'm so glad you're enjoying this process and can't wait to see what you create next!!!!!

I think a cool and interesting addition to the survival faction could be a primitive hunter gatherer character that can use spears, also throwing them if necessary (a limited amount of them could balance this?). If you do take my idea into consideration, try to take inspiration from rain world’s scavengers.

I like the idea of the compassionate witch doctor. It's a seemingly contradictory perspective to take, but actually very fitting. They are doctors, after all, and their job is to risk their lives helping people, in one way or another. Also, the elephant-esque chimera character. The most intriguing thing about the chimera for me is the ability to trap people in dreams. Dreams, creation... it would be a really cool way to tie something more abstract to the faction/concept of creation. After all, creative processes require something to come from nothing but ideas and abstractions, to make things work in your favor to the best of your ability.

I think the blob design he did would be great Hes from a world where mythical places are living breathing creatures He is the grandson of the fountain of youth. He is in the Corpus faction alongside scrap. He is very dog- like as in behavior he was chosen for his unique ability to heal members of corpus, and to regenerate, shapeshift, and grow in size. He serves alongside scrap and future members of corpus. I can't show my character design but this is it, a small blue creature being suspended by one drop of slime and a large glob of slime coming out of his mouth almost like vomit. He has huge bulging eyes, and a snout right before his moth that has the vomit coming out and two smaller globs behind the support drip that almost are like a tail they go in this order from right to left, one medium sized glob then coming out of it is a smaller one then the support drip then a small drip a long drip and then like vomit coming out of his mouth. Now that i look at it it's almost like a humpback whale shape. Last thing is names I need your name ideas. Thanks!

The Ascendant looks *amazing* and I loved the final result of this video's new character!! Since you've got Alpha, I'll just list my votes for the other factions: - Omega: Plague Doctor - Epoch: Aquatic tank (mostly for the gameplay element, tho I love the story of the old soldier seeking immortality) - Corpus: The swarm queen would look ✨️outstanding✨️ on the board among the other figures! - Lastly, with Drasi... I'll be honest, although there's a decent hook to each, I don't feel a spark with any of them like I do for the other factions' options. I like the *gameplay element* with the Oni of taking damage to deal back. The *story* of the muscle goblin is my favorite of the three. The most striking *design* to me is the witch, but I feel like it's kind of been done. Pros and cons to each, but I'd be interested in seeing if an extra *twist* could be added or maybe *combine* elements to make this really shine... otherwise all the Drasi players are just gonna pick The Ascendant every time. 😅😁 Overall, this project is so fantastic to watch as it grows, and the journey of development is an amazing ride that I'm super excited to continue! Thank you all!! 🎉

Hey Jazza I love you and the work you do! I don't like to be negative but I want to say as an avid board game player who mostly plays combat oriented game, a sweet old chubby lady that grows plants seems far off from a character for an arena battler/any combat oriented board game (unless the whole theme is light-hearted characters that match the vibe of this one). It just doesn't make much sence. I love the art and the character design its beautiful, but in the context of a board game that is based around combat this character seems so out of place. If I had this game and this was one of 2 of the characters for the faction I would be pretty bummed and most likely not want to play that faction if it was mandatory to play this character. I know that sounds brutal but I want to give my honest opinion. I don't know how many of these commenters are board gamers but alot of comments seem like they only want to say good things about it without giving the context a thought. I doubt you will see this comment anyways but if you do this is my own opinion on this character in this game setting. I still love u though

I can picture the plague doctor as an angel of death of some sorts, you don't know exactly if it kills with compassion, granting an escape from the pain, or if it's just a way of justifying its dark murderous compulsion. Also, the gardener character is very interesting because she makes me think of a healer that also can hurt you if she chooses to...and she could have a "weakness" because she is totally unable to hurt anything plant-related or even an animal, you could say that she can't hurt a fly, but she has no compassion for humanoïd beings and can be absolutely ruthless with human-like creatures.

I think the garden granny should be riding a massive plant pot which has vines/roots growing out for legs and a tree giving shade. Having her walk on her own loses a bit of the old sage character.
