Pastor John, you are such a blessing. You break scripture and Christian principles down in a detailed way that makes it make sense to me. You and Dallas Willard have both been so helpful to me in learning to be a disciple

If piper really knew the truth he would tell us how to illuminate doubt. Easy to say” don’t doubt”. It’s quite another thing to know how. Again ....piper tells us WHAT to believe but fails at telling us HOW.
@harryh75645 жыл бұрын
John Piper often tells us how. The only way we can have real faith is by God's work. We have to be brokenhearted, seeing how sinful we are and unable to eliminate doubt ourselves. We should pray what John Piper tells us to pray so that when we do read the Bible, God may open our eyes to how real He is, how trustworthy He really is. This eye opening by God is done because of His grace.

Harry H Your response is as vague as his. Don’t just tell us that god does this and that...be specific. What is brokenheartedness? How do you know that your perception of sin is correct?

You Really Do Not Need to Read All Mans laws and commentary..and all the things people Did to Disobey Gods Laws in order to Know What God Wants You to Do. I listened to men quote bible verses..Was very Mislead..and made many mistakes in my life because I believed them. You Can Do..Just as Jesus Told us..the Narrow Way..Teach and Obey Gods Laws..Not mans laws..and Seek God..Not men. And God Will Prepare You for the Kingdom of God.

Mr. C - many thanks - I have not read or heard much of Piper but have always had a bit of a check at the mere mention of his name, along with Keller - I have since done a bit more research and think I will probably unsubscribe from this channel - I keep trying to whittle down those I listen to a small nucleus of solid Bible teachers who are not teaching ‘WORKS’. Thanks again.

@@davidcrane6593 This seem to me more an excuse to avoid the teachings by pointing to a name you disagree with. If you cannot find *content of the teachings* awry (as indicated by your failure to respond to what Yesica actually asked, and instead pointed to something that isn't even mentioned in the video), but rather find such content helpful or burning within your heart, why fight it just because you disagree with a title that one man gave to it? Or have you even watched it? I hope so, and that you're not merely here to mock. If that is the case, the post continues, even if it's for others' sake and not yours. John Piper repeatedly has said that no-one has to use that name for it. I too find that name disturbing. I understand *why* he chose it (the literal definition combined with 'Christianity' to imply that seeking joy in God should be foundational to your lifestyle), but still think the term ill-advised. Indeed, the very imagery that the word 'hedonism' brings to my mind (and doubtless to the minds of others) regardless of the literal definition also seems to me ill-suited to pair with the name of Christ. Even so, I often find value in what and how John teaches, and again John repeatedly has stated no-one has to use that name for it. But this said: would you flee Jesus because some men called Him possessed of demons? I imagine part of the motivation of those men was to avoid the conclusions they'd have to draw if they followed what Jesus taught. Let God be the judge, not me: you've very very little to gain in impressing or persuading me one way or the other. === If something as small as getting caught on up on a name is holding you or anyone else reading this back from seeking a fuller and better relationship with God through His Word, then please listen as I lovingly but firmly say this: *get over it*. Seek God's help on the issue, but *get over it*. Let God be the judge, not any of our temperaments. Don't seek an excuse to flee God just because you don't like how someone non-authoritatively named something.

@@ericpantalone5229 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
