The world has become a public theater that displays sin in many forms and its acceptable nowadays. But if your heart truly is set upon principles of virtue, you can be amidst sin without sin entering into you. Refer to 1 John 3:9 "and he cannot sin because he is born of God" Put your hand in front of your face, notice how you focus on the hand while the background is blurred. The background still exists but you are focused on the hand. Now, focus on God and the world will be blurred. Be in the world but not of it. All praises brother.

Listen. For anyone struggling with porn, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal WHY you're struggling. Often times we Christians just assume "delete everything and read scripture and get accountability and you'll be fine"which is true but that only cuts the leaves and not uproot the trees. I struggled with porn because I was lonely and lost people in my life and I turned to porn to bring me comfort. Yes I an a believer and yes God's grace is enough but we must understand why we struggle so we'll know how to deal with it.

I stopped going to the gym and public beaches because of our pornographic culture. I don't watch TV and very carefully select which films I watch. Having been addicted to pornography as a young adult, I've found this to be incredibly helpful. I think a lot of Christians are kidding themselves if they think they can't normally participate in a hyper charged sexual pubic sphere without constantly falling into lustful thoughts and feelings. I'm sure it's possible, but I've learned it's better to simply not participate. And over the years of not participating, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. Nothing is more important than our walk with Christ, and I encourage all of us to be radical in it.

I have been mediating on this scripture from James 4: "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Our nearness to God doesn't happen by accident. It is deliberate and it is intentional. I am more susceptible to fall into sin when I am not seeking God's face in prayer and reading his words. Brothers and sisters, we have to cultivate our nearness to God. It is true that often putting a label on sin create an environment that is sin is not addressed. So some of us walk around concealing sins as they day go by. I find it helpful to confess these things to a trusted friend. We will never fight sin when we are isolated or detached from people close to us in the church.

I’m in my early 20’s. Luckily I understand the importance of respecting your body and respecting the biological instinct a female figure triggers in men. I’ve tried to point out to teenage girls around me that they are falling into this culture in the way they dress and act. The most common response is: “ I should be able to dress however I want. If men look that’s on them. I’m confident in my body so I can dress this way without feeling shamed by people.” It’s so sad.

I think lust is only natural and a sign of healthy sexuality. It’s about how you use that super-charged sexual energy. You either use it, or it uses you. I recommend you look into Taoist philosophy/sexology to see how you can harness and re-direct this energy into your intellectual, creative, physical, and spiritual capacities. Porn is a definite no-no though since it messes with your brain.

There is no "redirecting sexual energy", it really sounds silly now that I am thankfully saved from all of that loop hole, sugar coated MESS. God (Jesus) knows the importance of a sexual union between one man and one woman hence why he says it multiple times in the Holy Bible about sexual immorality and infidelity, if you lust in your heart, is still a sin, when you first lose your virginity, the woman bleeds, symbolizing the blood covenant you made with that one person for LIFE(who God intended for marriage and one person alone, blood is also, as we know, extremely important and why also Jesus paid our debt with his own blood and why it is SO powerful) again, he went as far as to say if you even lust with your heart(or moreso in your mind) you have sinned because lust is never fulfilled, once you start, there is no stopping. Yes healthy sexuality is when you and your husband or wife explore that together and only together hence why also the Bible says when you're married the husband owns your body and you own his, as well as you become one once married. Haley P aight no problem, Tao is not a new age religion, or belief. It is an approach to cultivating superior health and longevity. Tao also advises only one partner (wife or husband) for sexual practices. That doesn’t mean you can’t take care of your sexual health and energy without a partner (for example a man can perform prostate massage, testicle massage, kegels, edging, etc.) to maintain his sexual energy and health, otherwise he will develop maladies such as prostate cancer if he’s only retaining his semen without stimulation to his sexual organs (you either use it or lose it). For a woman it’s easier to retain her sexual energy, since she doesn’t have to worry about spilling it through intercourse, masturbation, or wet dreams. The Tao teaches women to minimize their menstruation, and/or regulate their menstrual cycles. If they retain their menstrual blood, it is the same invigorating youthful feeling that males accomplish through retaining their seed.

Hey brother hope this help. Recently listening to a sermon that opened my eyes. Struggling everyday is not the way. You will never overcome your addiction alone. Only Jesus in his perfection can cleanse you and free you from the tyranny of your sin. Instead of battling and fighting sin, instead everytime you feel tempted turn to Jesus and say "I surrender to you Lord. I am a sinner, and I need a savior." The devil loves when we battle sin and think we can overcome. We can't overcome our sin. That's why God sent his only son. We often forget that his freedom comes on this side of the grave too. We think oh once I'm in heaven I will be free but you can expirence that now. It sounds confusing because I'm telling you to stop fighting your sin but I'm saying to surrender to Jesus and stop beatimg your self up about your mistake. You are not a slave to sin when the Son of God will set you free. It sounds obvious but think about it deeper. We tell God I'm trying and trying and trying after we mess up. That comes through submission to God's will (100%). Sin comes down to our own choices to disobey God (not submit to Him). Take God as your accountability partner and realize that you have to tell Him that you have chosen sin over Him one time, twice, three times... Your wife may not see what's going on but God sees it. If you love God more than the sin that's in your life, that is hurting you and your family, you will be ready to suffer if that's what it takes to not give in to a temptation to sin. And you will see God's power at work in your life when you and God are 100% on the same page about sin that you need to say bye-bye to forever. That's having a truly repentant heart. Pornography was my problem. I still struggle with thoughts of it almost every day. When I prayed about it recently, and asked for help and forgiveness, the answer came to me so quickly it was astonishing. Praise Jesus! Hi brother, my experience and testimony: I struggled for years with porn, ever since having internet access at home in the late 90's. It got worse with easily accessible porn sites showing movies ad infinitum. Even after becoming a Christian in the late 00's I still had an problem (say once every month or two). This continued with occasional relapses in the same frequency. I prayed about it to God so many times. Things weren't changing. So I think God had enough of my relapsing and decided to allow me to see the consequences and allow me to be "sifted". Over 2 years ago now, I experienced a spiritual demonic attack while I lay in bed early one morning, awake but dozing. This sleazy, dirty, demonic creature (it probably represented the spirit of porn) in the spirit screamed at me, attacked me and bit me on the hand. I actually woke up with two physical red bite marks on my hand! A couple of days later my home was broken into and I lost $7k worth of stuff. Since then the fear of God and the HEAVY conviction by the Holy Spirit has caused me to never seek out that stuff again. So it was not by my efforts, or by my will power, but by His spirit that the addiction came to an end. It's been 2+ years free now.

The one to ten scale thing was very helpful in getting us to percieve the dangers of these traps that lust can lure us into. We must realize how terribly selfish and self-centered our lusts are in every form, whether it be sexual or otherwise. Viewing one another according to God's valuation of each one of His image bearers, and resensitizing ourselves to despise with deep hatred everything and anything that's contrary to holiness is, I believe, good aims for everyone who claims Christ as Lord & Savior. We are in a huge spiritual battle everyday, and we live in enemy territory. So, let us put on the whole armor of God (see Eph.6:13-17) and "...Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. In this case I would and have and am still searching and waiting on God to bring that person/s. I would find someone online in your area for support if it is this struggle and I would recommend covenant eyes and signing up with their program for accountability software and talking to someone there to help personally with my struggle. I also like Doug Weiss, he has a couple good KZbin videos such as men and temptation. He has a program and resources online at his website too. I understand completely what you feel like and it does feel very lonely in those areas where we need not just want but need those other brothers and sisters to help us in the darkness.

AS a person who had one of the worst struggles, there's a way to get healed. First you have to want it gone. The Spirit filled conviction and resolve to stop has to be there. You also have to believe that it's possible to stop. Ive stopped. It's been almost 7 years. It's possible and it's AWESOME!! Believe the Truth. 1) Fasting. It's a stubborn sin. Fasting helps you to train your ability to submit to the Spirit more and to the flesh less 2) You have to get other people to pray for you. Stop hiding it or telling strangers. Tell people who will see you often. Tell them often and ask for prayer when you tell them. When people who know you have to know that you struggle and they see you often and pray for you, it'll start to feel very shameful. You'll feel the need to stop telling them. That's when you need to tell all the more. And they should pray "Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed." 3) Get rid of watching anything that's even remotely sexual like normal Hollywood movies and shows. Your sensitivity will begin to grow and strengthen. 4) People that make you struggle (FB posts, FB photos, popups). When you're drawn to then, repent immediately.

All I know is that a hard line must be drawn when dealing with sexual sin. There is no such thing as struggle. There is either committing sin or obedience to God's word. And even if you don't watch pornography remember that our greatest works are as filthy rags in the eyes of God. So the only way to fully overcome is the grace of God and being filled with His word. I believe that to really deal with this we need to understand God's will for sex - not just what *not* to do, but what *to* do instead. It's not merely that we have little self-discipline, but that we reject healthy sexuality. Sex is inevitably expressed one way or another. The Bible doesn't teach extended abstinence. It teaches marriage. Marriage is the righteous expression of sex, and we should understand that delaying marriage is evil and leads to all kinds of problems, not just pornography and masturbation. It is not right that we consider it normal to delay healthy sex until your late 20s or 30s. We also need to understand the different roles of the sexes, because a huge part of why people avoid marriage is that a healthy household is not respected. Divorce is relatively easy and re-marriage is allowed regardless of the reason. Gender roles are rejected. These mean children grow up without a good example of marriage. Young people are encouraged to reject their sex and be more like their opposite, so everywhere you look are weak, passive men and loud, aggressive women (which is why they dress pornographically and why men marry them anyway). The biggest cause of our pornographic culture is lack of fathering. Most fathers have abdicated their role as leader of the house, leaving it to their wives and the government. Our default image of God is our earthly father, so if he doesn't really care, we find it hard to really believe that our heavenly Father does either. A good father disciplines those under his care. Without good fathers we have come to believe God's discipline should be likewise avoided. But if we submit to earthly discipline (whether our real father or a church elder), we are also submitting to God's discipline - and can lead our wives and children without hypocrisy.

This was great but fails where many in the church today concerning fighting porn. The title should be, "WHY to Fight Addiction in a Pornographic Culture". His words dripped wisdom to be sure. Even still, I am left going, "Okay, but what do I DO?" The flowery talk is nice but would you say the same to a cocaine addict? No you wouldn't. Porn addiction is on par with cocaine addiction and should be treated with the same seriousness. We need to develop a "rehab" for porn addiction before it erodes us even more.

This concise books is honest, encouraging and lays out a clear strategies to end the porn addiction that plagues the church. Dr. Lambert is upfront with the gospel (the only force to bring about true, lasting change) for those seeking to end the addiction apart from Christ. However, his commentary for the believer who is wandering in the quagmire of lust is appropriate without harshly condemning. A truly remarkable resource!

I'd say his point is really put up a fight to see what porn really is and what it does by stealing the truth and replacing it with a lie. Since the problem is desensitising, then to have a change in mindset would be good for being more and more sensitive to it. He doesn't want to simply change the outside, but to work the change from inside out. That's why there's no "game plan". But one can always be made when one understands the root problem. And work it out with that in mind. If I were to give my humble suggestion, it is, of course, to abstain from pornography and consciously fight against the kind of thoughts we might have when we see any ladies around you, in church or not. And constantly remind yourself of how much God loves them and how He sees them. Also, back to the core, is to always remind yourself of how much God loves you and wants the best for you. And the best is to live under His rule. And our response is to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Part of which is to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him. Brother, I too am going through the same thing so I believe I know at least this much. And of course I'd provide more support than that. If its gonna be that serious, a community has to come to his aid. Many addicts get out of it once they abstain long enough. Surely they will be feeling the urge to have it again but it's the engagement in other activities. And I've also mentioned covenant eyes. Is that not something tangible? The ultimate goal is really to be engaged with a better vision if its porn. A better desire if its drugs. Get hooked up God things rather than the temporal worldly things. It is exactly because it wraps the mind that we need to start from the mind. To renew it by God's power and be captured by Him rather than the world. Stop being so sensitive to flowery language and see the concrete stuff ive given. And don't ignore it either because it is more than just fluff.

Porn along with every sin is fought by the Holy Spirit, you need to ask God everyday to take away your desires and satisfaction you get from porn or any sin and to replace it with a satisfaction in him. Also fasting is extremely beneficial. I was very determined to overcome porn and for the first 2 months I would fast every single time I started to get tempted. If I felt any temptation whatever part of the day it was I would not eat until it left. I usually had to do this at least once or twice a week. The first months are difficult but if you pray everyday for God to take away your desires and pleasure you get from porn and give you a desire for him he will. You have to understand the reason why you watch porn or commit any habitual sin. My reason why I watched it was because it was more satisfying than Jesus was to me. So my goal wasnt to just quit porn, but to get a joy in Christ that was greater than the joy I got from porn or from anything else.

Weep gentlemen... Cry unto God to deliver you from this evil. I struggled with this for a very long time. I wept for my life and God granted me repentance. On your own you will fail. Don't let the shame and guilt keep you from seeking help. Speak to someone. Pray, Fast. Etc. Trust me, there is light at the end of the darkness.

This I know, if a person who is struggling with pornography is watching television, they will never get free. As Pastor said, the culture is pornographic and regular TV is probably on a 7 or 8 on the scale.

By God’s power and grace i went a year without porn, masturbation, sexual activity, the temptation was gone for the most part. I fell back into those things a few yrs ago. Hate looking at women in everyday life and having thoughts.

We need to be on guard. I once saw an image of porn as a kid by accident, and it's made me afraid to look at it ever since. I could have bee addicted, but maybe that was God's grace.

My brothers and sisters, it's not about willpower. It's about connecting to God every day. You connect to God through prayer, and you tell him everything you are feeling and struggling. You focus on his promises and faithfulness. We connect to God by reading the scriptures-this transforms us by renewing of our minds. We connect to God via repentance-we take irreversible steps to change our daily habits completely. We change our habits by staying away from certain rated TV shows, books, websites. If you have pornographic DVDs or any downloaded videos saved you utterly destroy them and talk to God about why you're doing it. If you have magazines, you burn them and destroy them. If you have any sexual thing that causes you to sin, you will take it and utterly destroy it. If you are a member on any sexual site, you will unsubscribe, delete your account and block all emails from it. Here's a verse that spoke to me from Psalm 40, when I was in bondage: "I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God." You need to establish your RELATIONSHIP with God. It is his Holy Spirit dwelling in you that will bring transformation. God's indwelling presence transforms you from the inside out. I have found that there's like a spiritual reflex that blocks every sexual thought, even before it registers in my mind. It's like arrows bouncing of steel armour. Pay attention to verse 3 of Psalm 40. His indwelling presence fills your heart with gratitude and praise. You use this gratitude to worship our mighty Lord. Praise him for his grace! Praise him for his mercy. Even when you feel down, thank him that he loves you and that he died for you for the very reason you're struggling right now! Only God can set you free. It's his power. It's his forgiveness. It's his mercy. It's his grace and they're all available to you right now, in your darkest moment. Focus on God and his attributes (faithfulness, mercy, kindness, forgiveness)-Christ came to set us free. You're going to make this pattern your everyday habit. NEVER forget that you will be (and are) forgiven, no matter how many times you fall. Remind yourself of God and his love and mercy, no matter how sick of yourself and how much you hate yourself. When you fall, you go straight to God and pray to him. Cry, yell, let it all out. Tell him how much you hate it, how much you want to be free. Be completely honest. Run to him straight after you fail. When you're feeling your absolute worst, run straight to him and cry your frustrations into your pillow as you pray to him. He hears every single word. "God is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.". Believe that verse. Read Psalm 91:1-4 "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings, you will find refuge; Here's a mental image I used to focus on who God is, based on the verse above: I am a small chicken that runs from the predators to God. God allows me to hide under his wings. I am safe, and he accepts me. He cares for me. When he sets you free, don't stop hanging with God and don't forget to strengthen your brothers and sisters. I respect what he is saying but honestly if the Holy Spirit is not within you you will struggle and fail. I use to have a terrible problem with this, my entire high school days this is all I did and when I got my first gf all that lust I built up yup you guessed it right I took it out on her. I've done very foolish things because of this, but I remember when I was praying in my room my heart started beating so fast I taught I was about the have a heart attack but that was the Holy Spirit coming into my heart no longer had those craving, now I know what LOVE really is. If you are lusting talk to God he will remove you from it. I am going on 5yrs of celibacy... I couldn't go 5 seconds without lusting. All glory and honor to our Father. Amen.

If you're struggling to repent, you are struggling to love God with all your heart. That's what it is. You don't want to let go of things that have become idols to you in your heart. God won't compete with anything or anyone for your full attention and committed love. It's up to you to prepare your heart to receive Jesus. @@missmlb3842 If you give your life to God, then you will relish in his goodness, not what _seems_ good about porn while you are single. There is a hope that you can have in God, in his purpose for you, including as a wife, that will make something like porn unable to entertain/comfort you. God's grace will balance out the natural urges... You have to believe in the exceeding riches of giving your whole heart to God. Don't be afraid to do that. He requires it, too. If you are praying, you don't have to worry about finding a man. God more than knows how to bring into your life the man He has for you. He would do it for his own glory. It's all about you trusting Him with that part of your life and waiting on Him to act in your favor when you are his wholehearted servant (2 Chronicles 16:9a). Yes, I say, stand real with God like that if your desire is that He directs all your steps. Please see my video titled "Be Set Free From Sin". I think the answer to overcome porn or other sexual sins is in the book of James, it says, "Dont be proud but BE HUMBLE, SUBMIT TO GOD, RESIST THE DEVIL AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU!" Deny yourself and take up your cross. Stop preaching "self" to people, there's no "I" the gospel is about God so exalt only God and Jesus Christ. Submit to God and resist the devil! Try it! It works to me. #loveJesus
