I've been following Pastor John MacArthur for a number of years and recently heard him mention John Piper, so I tuned in to find out for myself. Now, I'm a new listener to Pastor John Piper. He is a wonderful teacher who's expressions help create a beautiful message. I appreciate pastors who teach truth, unafraid to preach about sin. So many pastors lead people down a false path of obtaining abundant "blessings and healing" without having to live in a Christlike manner. Thanks Pastor John!

This is my first experience with John Piper. I'm a fairly new Christian, and I'm having a hard time getting to know the character of God and His will by the text. I need teaching at the moment for that one. I was looking up books, but I wanted one with sound theology, as there are so many wolves in sheep's clothing these days that I figured I'd check out the author. This man exudes the joy of the Lord, I can feel in my spirit that my coming upon this that me coming upon this is the will of God, and I now know what book I'm going to buy. God bless you all!

I bless God for John Piper too. But God has also blessed us his children with this mind to understand Scripture by His Spirit - we all have the mind of Christ but John Piper probably spends more time searching, studying and meditating on the Word of God than you and I😉. I think this is also one of the points JP makes in this sermon - that if we do the same, our minds will be renewed and we too will be able to know and approve the good, acceptable and perfect will of God.

God has been leading me to sermons that are His timing, His WILL! What I do with them is my choice. I'd listened to a couple of sermons on forgiveness. Two days ago a friend totally turned on me as I was helping her. She suddenly lost all trust in me. I've been so mad since. I knew I needed to go to her. I know that whatever caused her to do that wasn't about me. Maybe she was triggered. IDK her past, but anything is possible. I told God I know I'm being prideful. But look what she did! I don't deserve that. She's like my mom. I so wanted to do the God thing, but how? I got on my knees and kept praying. By the time I was done I was so grateful to God for changing my heart and opening my eyes. Due to childhood trauma (I've been in therapy for it for a year.), this is literally the first time I've won such a battle whether it's forgiveness, lack of motivation, judging - whatever. When I was able to come through to the other side it was due to will. Not a bad thing, but I was doing it for me. I was doing it while angry and critical inside. I was doing the right thing, but not the right way because God wasn't in it. I finally know the difference and it's sooo freeing! I've been wanting to watch this sermon all day but had no chance. I had to hear it after I got on my knees. I had to learn more about the will of God. Why some things happen. That He wants me to come to Him with such struggles so I can surrender and obey. I finally gave Him my burden and He took it from me. I finally know Jesus wasn't just with me, but he was righteously angry with my abuser. Not passive as previous therapists led me to believe because God is good. Well, He also hates sin! I'm so grateful for God's timing in me listening to this sermon as well as the ones before. God blessed me by answering my Prayers asking for Wisdom and Discernment. Even though when I was very young the Lord laid on my heart to become a Missionary going back to a Communist Country where Christianity was / is frowned upon. I did something different and there were definitely very very painful consequences. God does not will for anyone to sin. He does not allow sin to come in the way of His will. The one who chooses to sin will suffer the - consequences. The one who chooses not to sin may suffer because of his obedience but ultimately will be better off because he has pleased God . God will work it for His Good . God uses ALL for HIS good OF HIS WILL .

We please God by believing in what his Son did for us on the cross and accepting the total forgiveness and the restored spirit that is the salvation that he provided for us . NOT by being obedient by trying not to sin. Jesus took all our sins and placed them on himself so we could be found not guilty by God". We please God when we trust in what our savior did for us and not what we can or will do for him by our works of the flesh". His will is that we receive the inheritance of his restored spirit that was lost in Adam. He dealt with the sin issue on the cross. John Piper my brother, and everyone else who listens to this sermon take heed to yourselves. We know and i hope we all have the Holy Ghost to testify within us against the things spoken here, namely that God ordains sin. And I know such a teaching comes from a misunderstanding of whats written for example in Acts 4:27-28..but that is an misunderstanding indeed. I come today to testify and give light from God on such matters. In Acts its written that Herod, Pontius Pilat, with the Gentils and the people of Israel, were gathered together for to do whatsoever thy hand and they counsel determined to before to be done. I absolutly hate and abhor this foolish doctrine of God ordaining things to happen that he doesn't actually want to happen that has been derived from this verse. So I testify of Gods innocence and of John misunderstanding. Understand how this verse actually makes sense, first the Lord determined all that would happen, he determined what should be done, but remember now why what was done was done. It wasn't dont because God caused Herod, and Pilate, and the gentils and the jews to do whatever he wanted. It was done because of Christ's response to them, if Christ wouldn't habe perfectly did what he did and how he did then the Pharisees and everyone else would have never reproved him. What I'm trying to say is, God saw when he would come what the devils response would be, what the demons would respond, what would happen if he healed on the Sabbath, what would happen if he didn't speak against his accusers, and he determined to respond by allowing himself to willingly die. It was Christs death that was determined. They were gathered together to do whatever he determined to be done. His determining was determined through Christ, not the action of these devil's ..he simply saw their actions and allowed it to be. But God in no way shape or form chose for them to respond , he simply saw how they would respond. John and everyone else will have a huge answer to answer when they stand before God, for leaning on their own understanding.
