Ball hone is what you use on a 2 stroke because of ports
@connerjones79025 жыл бұрын
After you hone, use a feeler gauge to measure gap between piston (no rings installed) and cylinder. Make sure it is within spec. I didn't do this the first time and ruined my brand new top end
@jacko38415 жыл бұрын
That's a brake honing tool, you got the wrong one, and your supposed to lube up the cylinder before honing that can damage the cylinder if you hone it dry, But bike is starting to look really nice can't wait to see it done 🙂

I was assuming that you were planning on building something because I saw that hammer. You don't need a hammer to install fork seals.
@2vintage5 жыл бұрын
Yes you do in this kind of fork. I looked at many tutorials on KZbin. This is how everyone was doing it.
@rigguyjt5 жыл бұрын
I made a tool with PVC pipe that's just like the correct installation tool. It's longer and split down the side. It works as a slide hammer when used correctly. I usually place the old seal on top of the new one and get it in that way. The shock gets absorbed by the old seal while sweating the new one. I've rebuilt dozens of forks this way. The upside down forks are a lot different but I still never used a framing hammer.

the grease keeps it from over tightening and forms a super solid seal? if you say so
@gtisid5 жыл бұрын
don’t care too much for the hammer , even a lump of wood is less likely to damage the fork. as for the lower fork you need a polishing wheel on a bench grinder to get them polished, you’ll be there a month doing it with sand paper. and damn man get all your stuff off the floor there is a bench at the back of your garage.

ehh its not really as necessary as one may think. last time i did a top end i had my local shop hone it and order me the correct size piston. i asked if i needed to measure the ring end gap before i installed it and he said, you can if you really want to but its not necessary. maybe in this clowns case i would because idk if i trust him to order the correct sized piston or not
@rigguyjt5 жыл бұрын
My Wiseco piston kit came with everything but the small bearing. .20 total fit and the rings were butted when I checked ring gap so rule of thumb, it only takes 5 or 10 minutes to check in three positions. It's worth the check because I had to get out the ring file. Always check.

@Exculation5 жыл бұрын
It almost looked like you squeezed the ring where the ring gap is closer to the exhaust side, i do hope you put the piston on the correct way with the arrow facing exhaust port and ring gap facing intake side? If not that ring will catch the exhaust port, snap and make a huge score or worse to the cylinder wall. Not saying you have put it in wrong just looked as if you squeezed the ring closer to the exhaust side when sliding the cylinder on. Build is looking nice tho bro, good job 👍💯🔥👌

Let's grease all the nuts and bolts that we don't want coming lose, and then put all the moving parts together completely dry. RIP whoever wins this bike. I can't understand why you do the things you do most of the time. You removed the factory powder coat on the shock spring, then spray painted it with $5 clear coat. That will hold up for about 10 seconds! And we all know you didn't mask off the shock shaft, so who knows what the spray paint will end up doing to the seals. Polishing turds, as usual.

@@2vintage I have a channel, I just have a real job, doing real work, and don't have time to do tutorial videos. I, and a million other people have tried to help you. To tell you the correct way to do things, or what's actually wrong with one of your junk yard projects. You don't listen to the masses about anything, and it frustrates everyone. The issue I have, is you do these half-ass tutorials, and teach less experienced people the wrong way to do things. You don't put grease on nuts and bolts you want to stay tight. You don't put forks, or top ends together with no lubrication. You don't do compression checks with your calibrated hand. If you want to teach people... do things the right way. BTW, I watch, because I keep hoping you'll start doing things the right way. Maybe consider going to MMI or some other motorcycle specific training school. You might be able to figure out how to tune your bikes better.

It doesn't even matter, there's no such thing as an 80cc engine with very high compression, so making that comment is ridiculous. Besides, he hasn't done any type of compression check (even off camera), so there's zero evidence to back up the claim.
