Shampoo and make sure hair and scalp is throughly. Condition and moisturize. Stay consistent and avoid damaging styles like small box braids. It’s really simple but people over complicate it.

For my fake washngo I apply my products throughout my hair brush it through with a curly brush or my fingers then I twist my hair in large chunky sections and typically I go to bed with my hair covered and wake up take twist out and ,my curls end up perfectly clumped you don't want your hair to dry all the way you still want it to be damp or else it will take the shape of a twist out when I tell you its saves so much more time than shingling/finger coiling if i'm not extra lazy I will finger curl the front pieces to frame my face I will let my hair air dry the rest of the day if i'm not going anywhere or blow dry if I need to Game changer !!!

If you put a little Dawn dish detergent on the oil spot b4 you wash the item the oil spot will wash out. I’m not sure if that works once you put the item in the dryer.

How do you determine which oil is good for the scalp versus shaft?

It depends on your own scalp and hair type. Is it dry? Oily? A secret third thing? Is your hair higher or lower porosity? Work backwards from you.
