I've had this unit for about 7 years now and, other than normal maintenance, it's still going strong. I've probably ground at least 300 lbs of coffee through it in that time.

@@slundgr hello there, its arrived today and I've had a bit of a play with it! I believe that it's a solid grinder. But for espresso it doesn't grind quite fine enough, there's a very simple modification which you can do which easily makes it compete with £150+ grinders, would highly recommend if you're looking for a coarse - fine grind, consistent great grind. If you want espresso it's still great, you just need to be willing to undo 3 screws and make a little cardboard or plastic spacer to push the two pieces of the burr mill closer to one another. You can find the video by searching for it on KZbin rather easily! :)

@@I_am_crypt Thank you for the feedback. I typically don't drink espresso and don't make it at home, but I do enjoy a real good cup of coffee. I read the user manual of my current coffee maker, and it says to use fine grind where most reviews I've seen say to use medium for a drip coffee maker. I might ask Santa for the Hamilton Beach Flex Brew. Sometimes I just want one cup of coffee, and most times I brew several cups in a carafe. My Brim SW 30 works pretty well, but it's several years old, and I don't know if it gets the water as hot as it should. Thanks again. Enjoy your new grinder. BTW what coffee do you use?

These are super reliable. I’ve had mine for over 10 years and I only just realized I could take it apart. I’m getting way more into 3rd wave coffee and I’m not sure this grinds with enough precision for my pour over setup but I’m trying to dial it in. The grind settings are definitely mislabeled. I’m like 2 clicks from the finest setting and still getting some coarse pieces in there.

I have had mine for 6 years now. I have learned how to use it without making a mess. After the beans are grinded all you gotta do is pull it out leaving the lid on it. Hold the lid on with one finger as you are pouring the grounds in the coffee filter. Then I just rinse it out over the sink. I might add soap couple times a week to the canister.

Another great review. Coffee pot “cups” are 5 ounces - my coffee cup/mug I drink from more like 14 ounces. Comparison to Folgers. Darker roasts are oilier. Looking at the color the ones you ground are darker and thermoelectric more oil. Spritzing the beans before grinding will eliminate the static electricity on the blade grinder. Only takes a few drops of water.

Thanks for the video. I ordered this grinder yesterday, and as I typically do, I watch reviews after I've ordered something. :). One comment, though. You've said, more than once, that medium grind is for a "standard percolator coffee maker." That is incorrect. You seem to be conflating a drip coffee maker and a percolator. They are not the same. In fact, you want a medium grind for a drip maker, and a coarser grind for a percolator.

The reason I got it was that I happened to find a French press coffee maker I had forgotten I had when I was cleaning out my kitchen cabinets. So I said, why not use it? Then I went looking for course ground coffee and didn't find any. The regular ground coffee was so messy, that I broke down and got this one.

@@slundgr I use this grinder a couple of time a week as I grind small batches at a time. I'm very happy with it, but I have never used any other bean grinders and don't have anything to compare it to. It's very easy to use. Side note: . The first time I ground the beans, I didn't put the lid back on the grounds container (clear plastic box), and the grounds shot out of the opening, and made a big mess. Pro tip: Never forget to put container lid on before grinding.

Thank you. Had my choices of coffee grinders down to a Braun Burr Grinder or this one. I only found 1 video on the Braun one, plenty on this one. Everyone uses the medium grind, but most don't show the grind comparison to pre-ground coffee you buy from the store. So, thank you for showing me, when I buy this grinder in a couple days, that medium is definitely not what I want. I like to grind my beans into a powder like state, which I'm assuming is fine, not medium. My old grinder was just a handheld one. Put the beans in, hold it while pressing the button, let go when you're done. But it overheated and started smoking lol. I can't stand pre-ground coffee... it just feels so coarse. I feel like with the powder like state it releases more flavor. Could also be my coffee maker too. I did spend far too much on that monster lol.

I also don’t hear him mentioning, that the burr grinder he’s demonstrating, cost 4 1/2 times as much as the cheap little grinder does! I own this exact cheap little grinder, and if you grind longer it makes fine coffee grounds just as fine as the 4 1/2 times more expensive Cuisinart burr grinder! Of course the burr grinder is much nicer, but it’s not gonna make a massive difference,in grind texture, when compared to the cheap little one! The cheap little one, may take a little longer, but it’ll do the exact same job, and it works especially well if you shake it gently up and down while you’re grinding! This moves all the beans around inside the cheap grinder, and the blade hits everything and makes everything a very nice grind! I have done this many times! And like I said it’s less than 1/4 of the cost of the big fancy grinder here! I also use my little one to grind spices, and it works great for that too! $20 for my cheap little one, in comparison to $85 for this one here in Canadian dollars! Just depends on what you prefer!
@Odinarcade0013 күн бұрын
Yeah but you haven’t even mentioned which little tiny grinder you have and if it’s automatic or a hand grinder. Also there’s a billion cheap grinders and people complain that they don’t last for more than a year or two.
