You made me break my rule, man. I've been a strict DeWalt cordless tool guy for years, but that Ryobi is exactly what I've been wanting to dry the grill and other tight spots on the Mustang. Picked one up today.

Question: it is good enough to use the blower from the ridgid vaccum? For side mirrors, wheels, front grill, etc?

I went from using blower to now a combination of blower and towel. I also dont use drying aid as it kills my towels. If i apply topper it is with a separate towel. If you use drying aid on towels, leave towels in bucket with microfiber cleaner of choice overnight, then wash after.

I’ve been using the same drying towels for years before I rotate them out for house rags. I’ve had my business for nearly 7 years and I sometimes don’t even wash my towels for a week or two until it’s a large load for the laundromat. Maybe it’s the products I use, which aren’t the bottom line end, but I don’t really have a problem with product clogging my towels. SOME of my microfibers do get a film which I rotate out immediately. I also use more microfiber wash then directed, I put it in pre wash and use extra rinse cycle on warm. Air dry. I do clean my buffing pads immediately though.

I recommend 'The Rag Company Gauntlet 20x30'. Two of those towels will dry a car (streak-free) in about 4 minutes. (The smaller size is good for windows. They have a larger size too but I think the 20x30 would air-dry faster and be easier to launder).

I've stopped using SiO2 sprays as drying aids as it has killed a couple of towels. Now I just use a simple quick detailer with no lasting protection. I will use a mini blower (Ryobi PCL016) on my wheels, tyres, mirrors , grilles and panels gaps and then dry the rest with a towel.

In my opinion, the only time you should be using a blower off the bulk of a car (forcing it out of cracks crevices is fine when needed) is if you have a DI or RO water system to do the final rinse, otherwise you are drying a small amount of minerals into the paint/coating which can clog the coating and dull the finish over time. I'm also a big fan of using rinseless washes as a drying aid (even if you do a soap wash). It provides plenty of lubrication and will not clog up your drying towels (as long as you're using something without protection like ONR, DIY Detail, P&S Absolute, etc). It has the added benefit of preventing water spots that form if you're working in direct sunlight on a hot day and the water is drying on the surface before you can get to it.

Great methods buy a few things to think about. Don't use the same towel on 2 different cars. Just in case you picked something up on one, you don't risk another car. The small 8x8 Amphibian or 12x12 Gauntlet work great for rins. Last, some car wash soaps, like DIY rinseless clean so good that the drying towels literally grab the surface. You almost need a drying aid to help the towel move.

I’m not a big guy, and it’s not too bad. If your car is coated, you can get around it pretty fast. I dont even have the stubby nozzle, and I can dry my f150 in around 3-5 min, and it’s not too bad.

kzbin.infoy-owKT6zblM How would you argue with him? I even asked question, if the car is ceramic coated, will it leave water minerals if you blow air? his answer is yes! Now I'm confused...
@DizConnected
@DizConnected 5 ай бұрын
Unless you're using distilled or deionized water, using a blower will leave minerals on the car because not all of the water gets blown off the car, some of it evaporates and leaves behind the minerals. The best way to dry your car is with a drying microfiber towel, only use the blower to get water out of the cracks and crevices. If you insist on using a blower to dry the car, and don't have access to distilled or deionized water, then use a rinse less wash solution to rinse your car. This will encapsulate the minerals and even though they look like water spots, they are polymer spots and should wipe away easily with a microfiber cloth.

@@DizConnected even ceramic coated paint? Does ceramic/graphene make the paint smoother thus make the water slide...in your argument why do we use ceramic coating/graphene arr those mafketing gimmick? They say it help prevents water spots?
@DizConnected
@DizConnected 5 ай бұрын
@@TheJeof1000 I would say you are safer with a Ceramic coated vehicle, but you will still have water evaporating when using a blower. I still would recommend the blower for the cracks and crevices but use a drying towel and/or rinse less wash. There is no doubt that ceramic coatings leave a smooth, hydrophobic surface that makes all drying methods easier.
