Detailing a Brand New Car | Clean, Polish and Ceramic Coating

In this video I’ll be showing the exterior detailing process on this brand new MG HS. This includes washing and decontaminating the car, polishing the paint/ glass and applying a ceramic coating.

cracking video & camera work Heather, glad to see someone else use the same method of measuring shampoo & foam as me, probably why i go through so much - just eye-ball it, or as my old science teacher used to say 'a bit of bucket chemistry' 💥. Good products you selected, i've been testing IW Diamond Vision recently for glass protection, its been very good on my Outback, and is very similar to my results with AM Rain. Also tested cross-mixing GT Decon and AM Foam for some wicked pre-wash/decon/cleaning -- need to try more combos just for my own amusement.

I did a new car prep this weekend for a family member as well! You have done a good job the owner will be pleased. The Pyramid Care coating looks very similar to the Infinity Wax offering but is twice the price. I will look forward to watching the maintenance of this car.

That's a fantstic job right there👍 As i know nothing can you answer a couple of questions please? So once the ceramic coating has been applied,does that mean that you cant polish the car again,say after 1 year or 2 years without it removing all the ceramic protection? And secondly,can you recommend a polisher that comes with the required backing plates so you can use different sized pads including using larger pads if needed?

Thanks Stuart! Yep that's right, the car can't be polished or clayed now as it'd abrade the coating. It can be chemically decontaminated though using iron fallout/ tar removers. I've only ever tried this Argos polisher I'm afraid and that one comes with a 6" backing plate which I had to swap out as it was too big. I got some 3" and 5" plates instead from cleanyourcar.co.uk though for about £8 each :)

Those EZ Go brushes are so damn good, love mine with BH Surfex HD at 10:1 Why can't more girls get into detailing, it's only really you and Civicky that I know of. You use some wicked stuff and equipment, great honest reviews too.

Hi Craig, this one can't get wet for 4 hours after application. After that it just can't be washed for at least 3 days but I waited a week just to be on the safe side

My concern is that four hour curing time. My car will be on a car port with protection from the sun, rain, but no protection from dust (it’s always very windy where I live…and dusty). Would using some kind of car cover interfere with the ceramic coating? And did you say three year protection with Pyramid coating? Thank you from Texas, USA.

I can’t imagine it interfering to be honest but I don’t think the dust would cause much of a problem really, I think it’s more getting it wet that would be the concern

The audio of your videos now seem a lot better than previously. Have you upgraded to a better mike? I used to struggle occasionally on your older videos to make out what you were saying due to muffled audio. Top work on the MG!

Thanks Ian! There wasn’t a tonne of contamination besides the iron fallout but there was still a decent bit. The pillars did need a polish and I used the Pyramid ceramic coating on those too 😊

Yep it is! It was really nice to use to be honest, the only thing that’s time consuming is the prep really. It also seems to release traffic film very easily, even a rinse with a hose gets most of the dirt off
