I’m a trans man and I can agree with this. I definitely think nowadays a lot of people tend to equates dysphoria with being uncomfortable with society’s gender expectations. While I am not against informed consent because I think adults should have full bodily autonomy and freedom I do think therapy should be encouraged before even thinking about a medical transition. I am very happy I got hrt and it genuinely saved my life but it is something that needs to be approached with precaution. I do wish people could not think so black and white. Not everyone is trans and some people mistake other problems for gender dysphoria but there are some people like myself in which gender dysphoria has literally destroyed my life and the only thing that has given me relief is medical transition.

The whole idea that hrt is easy to access is bizzare to me, because its not easy. There a ton of appointments you have to do, years of waitlists, a lot of refusal. Its not easy thats just the transphobes trying to make it sound like kids are being given hrt like candy.

@@cherie3000 no, it's not because very few people want it and they've generally informed themselves and spent a very long time deciding if it's right for them. it's also worth considering that informed consent is the model almost all trans people want because of how difficult transphobia can make things for them.

This conversation is so important because a lot of people in the trans community, including the majority people I know, act like taking hormones is no big deal, they act like it's reversible & that health effects are rare but that's just not true. As a 30 something year old I was on testosterone only for a couple of months. I got it from Planned Parenthood, the people who prescribed it basically had no idea what they were doing. They didn't screen me for mental health or health risks whatsoever. I started having some pretty severe side effects pretty quickly and I wanted to stop but I also felt addicted to the testosterone. Luckily I was able to quit cold turkey but there was damage that was done and it took me about a year to really bounce back, some things will remain changed because I have a hormonal disorder and I should have been screened for that before I was prescribed cross sex hormones but there were no barriers to access. I don't believe in banning HRT but I think that there does need to be some gatekeeping and there needs to be safeguards in place because taking cross sex hormones can be very dangerous and can lead to lifelong health complications and even in some cases death.

People really just need to trust every major medical organization on this one. The under 1% of people who detransition because they realize they are cis should not be able to prevent the other 99% who transition from being able to access life-saving medical care. That is a ridiculous idea.
@WearyWayfarer5 ай бұрын
'Trust every major medical orginization' yeah no thank. Those companies exist to generate money. Just google 'pfizer lawsuits' and youll see they pay billions a year in compensation and still make a profit.. its disgusting to even think about the lifes ruined and lost. And '1%' '99%' these numbers are just made up, no one can ever know the numbers of these things. No one has ever asked me if i was satisfied with my transistion, neither has anyone i know so you cant trust those.
@appaatemomo-freePalestine5 ай бұрын
@@WearyWayfarer I said "medical organization" not "pharmaceutical company". You should really know the difference. And studies are not "made up" just because they do not survey every single person of a group. I'm sorry if you were not satisfied with your transition. That is not a reason to prevent others from transitioning. There is a 6-30% regret rate for knee replacement surgery. Is that a good reason to make knee replacement surgery illegal?

HRT is given to women going through menopause to help relieve some of the symptoms. However I think as a whole HRT and testosterone prescribed for gender change needs to have stricter laws etc. As there are so many detrans now some of who are living life long consequences from HRT/Testosterone and surgery. I watched one detrans girl who started on T when she was like 14, she detransitioned when she was like 18 but is now going through the menopause at 19 meaning she will never have children all because of a decision she made as a teenager which she later on realised was wrong. I've watched a few of your videos your a strong guy please keep sharing your journey with everyone.

I don't necessarily think informed consent should be necessarily stopped but it shouldn't be as easy as it is. Like not just giving you a booklet on side effects it should be a whole list of required readings and then quizzes on it. I think most people's problem with the old system is how low long it takes to get on HRT, i think you should have to do a bit of counseling but it should be streamlined in a way where it doesn't take 3 years and tens of thousands of dollars in counseling. I would like to think that if you stuck through 6 months of counseling odds are you are committed to transitioning otherwise you would have been talked out of it by your therapist asking you the right questions ect. But anyways I think HRT can be a wonderful thing for certain people. Women going through menopause or this one is a bit controversial but if a man is 50yo and he finds out his testicles aren't able to do their job anymore I think he should be able to get on HRT to prolong his quality of life. Men suffer a lot from low testosterone, not just physically but mentally. My uncle was suffering from low T he is 55 and the doctor put him on anti depressants and something to help with his anxiety which he never really suffered from till he got older, ended up getting hrt and it magically cured his depression and anxiety, he doesn't take anti depressants anymore. His depression and anxiety stemmed from low T because he was one of those people who literally had nothing to be depressed about but found it hard to even want to live anymore.

The risk isn't there if she had a hysterectomy. I didn't even get breasts on estrogen so there's little risk of prostate cancer since I had my testicles removed. Do me a favor. Tell pro-athletes and military personal to wait until they are 26 to sign contracts then. If one can marry or has age of majority status, then it's a human right violation and genocide to deny HRT or imprison for homosexual sex. You want transgenders out of competition and colleges and this is exactly how you do it yet conservative prosecutors charge 14 year olds as adults. A person who is gender dysphoric and wants to transition can't get married or have relationships because they don't have the power to change their body and become who they want to be. They will feel uncomfortable in their body and it would be hard to ask a potential partner if they would accept you when the changes would occur. When the patient turns 26, I'm sure you'll have some other grift or study citing medical harm. It's just a stall tactic meant to disrupt a transgender person's life. In the meantime you'll probably want everyone who is doing fine on their regimens to come off and then the hell with the physical and mental health issues that come with that. The conservative governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, said men who offend can be castrated upon parole with no medical complications. Watch what incentives you give us! Criminals convicted of sex offenses now have more rights than those who are transgender and/or use gender medicine.
