I believe Kamski planned it all along. HE knew he was creating sentient, concious beings in the first place. Whatever our end results were they show if he failed or not with that experiment, as cruel as it sounds he just wanted to see what would happen. His character (or at least the one which we are presented) posseses all vital traits for that kind of move to pull.

They made it look like it's about the question of the philosophical definition of life and a human being and whether or not an AI deserves to be seen a a living being. The question of where does the machine end and the human begin. All very philosophical and I loved that premise. Turned out it was a just a game about racism and the fact that the androids are artificial beings doesn't matter they're just another minority who wants their rights. Maybe a little late to the party, but the game is a really bad allegory to American Slavery. The ramifications of actual androids aren't really discussed in game. The 37% percent unemployment isn't really explored and the resulting civil uproar it would cause. Poor people would go on a hunt for androids. Mass effect handled a similar story, namely the conflict between the quarians and geth, and a way more believable and Philosophical way.

But aren't we all machines at the end of the day? If a machine is able to simulate and imitate feeling, what is the difference between that and real feelings? Try to get that 'ding dong ur opinion wrong' idea out of your head. Fiction provokes to think, and the problem with westworld and detroit is apparently that they aren't mindless action.

@@kekky2033 I dunno man, imitating feelings and emulating them is pretty diffrent. For example, since they are machines and need programming to act, there would need to be a database to extract information from to tell the machine how to respond to a situation. Say if an Android has not become a deviant, then the amount of responses they'd be able to use for commands would all be obedient in nature. As a deviant, this would no longer be the case, as they can now respond in non-optimal "self-preserving" ways, but we have to remember that they we initially created to mimick human actions so any abnormal responses would also mimick a human's response, so in the end they're only acting in a way a human would act based on recorded information. Similar to how chatbots work, they compile information and respond accordingly, but they don't actually think about what they're saying.

While I myself believe the androids are sentient, it is just as plausible they were programmed to go wrong and imitate human behaviour so the creator could see how humans would react to an uprising by other sentient beings, this seems possible because of how sly the creator acts, and how he treats scenarios like experiments.
