Green bay both against Lions and Chicago, complained many times about "hands to the face" to the refs. So when there is a hand on the shoulder pads, they 'look up' so it looks like their helm is being pushed by a hands to the face. They did a good job selling this for 2-4 games last year.

I was on the NBC crew that day. Last game of the 97 season. Crazy game. Just a couple of plays after the noise issue, Reggie Brown nearly died on the field and they drove the ambulance out to him. Went from insanely loud, to deathly quiet. Then, later in the game, Barry Sanders went over 2000 yards for the season. Oh, and the Lions won the game to make the playoffs That whole game is on YT.

As a rams fan, I hate that the lions fans booed not only Stafford, but also booed his family during the playoff game. That said I still hope they beat the 9ers this week, but they should be ashamed of themselves for booing the children of a man that gave a large portion of his career to your team. I used to feel sorry for the lions, but after the fans actions I hope they get to the superbowl and get beat by the chiefs or ravens.
@thekingbarrelmaker76429 ай бұрын
@@austinberry3299 brother I’m a Rams fan as well. And although I wish the Rams won that game against Detroit, I can tell you that the other three fanbases have done far worse things than booing Stafford’s family. Chiefs fans? Threw debris at Raiders players jogging off the field at halftime of a game the Chiefs were losing. Ravens fans? Chanted “fuck Joe Burrow” as Burrow suffered a season ending injury at M&T Bank Stadium. And 49ers fans? The absolute worst fans in the world? Threatened to kill Kyle Williams after his infamous fumbles in the 2011-12 NFC Championship against the New York Giants. So no, I don’t endorse Lions fans booing Stafford’s family, but if you want to call them out for that and ignore the far worse things that the other hopeful fanbases have done in the past, then go ahead. I personally would like to see the Lions go all the way; their fans have suffered enough.

Had the officials gotten it correctly on the field the first time: - Falcons game: They could have had time to run another play. - Denver game: They return a fumble for a touchdown. - Houston game: Runner is down, no touchdown. This is more than just whether the call in the end was right, but how it affected the game. Yes, they stuck by their rules on those three instances... but they had botched the initial call.

Took a touchdown off the board because the initial call was incorrect. Yes, they stuck by their rule when they overturned it, but they would have gotten a fumble return for a touchdown if the officials called it correctly on the field the first time.

Bro, did you not see Jomboy's explanation of the Decker thing? As much as I hate to admit it, this was not the fault of the refs. They did it right for once. But misinformation gets you more clicks, I get it.

@richardcypherrahl9 ай бұрын
@@jonahlynx94 The video was edited in such a way as to misinform people by blaming the refs.
@BladerJuggs9 ай бұрын
@@richardcypherrahlyou are wrong. Although Jomboy does a great defense of how the refs could have thought 70 reported, he's doesn't give a defense on them missing Decker reporting. It falls on the refs this way. First, the coach said before the game Decker would report. Coaches have the opportunity to go over potential trick plays with the refs before the game starts so when the play occurs in the game the refs don't get confused. This is intended to prevent the exact situation that happened here. The play with Decker was presented to the refs with Decker specifically reporting eligible. So the refs had foreknowledge that Decker might report. Second, the ref did acknowledge a player reporting, and I think Decker thought the ref acknowledged him. In the video the difference in angle between the ref and Decker and the ref and 70 is not much. When the ref acknowledged 70 reporting, Decker thought the ref acknowledged him. (I am giving the ref the same benefit of the doubt that Jomboy did here). Third, the ref announced 70 reported. Some say the Lions should have caught this. I have heard and believe that the PA system is not understandable from the field. On top of that, the offense is too focused on setting up the play to pay attention to what the ref said. But, let's say they catch that the ref gave the wrong number as eligible. How are they supposed to correct the ref's mistake without ruining the play? Best option would be to burn a timeout. If you have Decker re-report, you draw more attention to him as the target of the play. Same if the coach talks to the refs. At this point, the Lions have to go to a normal play because the refs ruined the trick play. Next, the play goes off as the Lions planned. Now the refs are in a lose-lose situation because of their mistake. The Illegal Touching call penalizes the Lions for the refs mistake of not getting Decker's reporting in and the score call penalizes the opponents for the refs not announcing Decker reported. So, in the end, the mistake falls on the refs. Even if you accept they thought 70 reported, they should have asked Decker why he approached. I have never seen a player leave the line of scrimmage, walk up to a ref, do nothing, then go back to the line of scrimmage. Even fake reporting, they draw the refs attention to the reporting player and Decker did NOT draw attention to 70.
