This brings back memories. CN had ferries carrying auto cars crossing between Sarnia and Port Huron, my uncle was a CN engineer that worked the small yard there, spent many weekends riding in the cab on a SW1500.

Great video, this was a great trip down memory lane. It’s amazing how much history is just not on video, it’s sad that more of these types of videos aren’t out there. Thank you

I remember the farrier boat and that turn table thingy that spun the engines. See the flat cars being pushed n pulled by the engine, believe it or not its used because the engine was to heavy to go on the boat so they used flat cars. I remember when C.P. had just closed the tracks were still at the water front. At a fireworks night I sat rite on the ties with my ten speed seat as my head pillow. That was fun!

The lift bridge and the yard office are about the only things left now. The loading ramps are now viewing platforms, a part of a small walking trail.

Nice film. The visuals and sound tell the story well; no irritating music. Windsor was easy to determine, so the narrower river location was Sarnia. Suspect the ferry services are at minimal use to non-existent now.

I believe that all U.S. railcar ferries are gone. There were ferries across Lake Michigan from Grand Haven, Muskegon, Frankfort, Ludington, Northport, and probably more. Maybe one at the Soo, too. I rode the C&O ferry across Lake Mich. in the 1970's.
