Detroit Voices: A Community Calls Out for Change

Strengthening Detroit Voices is an initiative of Fair Food Network (www.fairfoodnetwork.org) that elevates the issues and work surrounding healthy food access in Detroit to inform public policy so that a more sustainable food system can be realized, particularly for our most vulnerable children and families.
Through a wide variety communications strategies, we work with our collaborative partners to make sure that Detroit's voices are heard by policy-makers, and that policy shifts occur at the local, state, and national levels to ensure progress in the area of food access and equity.

If people are shoplifting stores need to restructure their stores to prevent this. For example a drive through store. No one enters, take orders from outside of store . kind of like the drive up Burger joints of the 50s . The product is brought to you through window numbered. So if you are going to purchase 10 items you go to the 10 item window give the associate a list of what you want , they then bring you your items. A menu of items would be listed on the outside of store. Maybe a wipeable menu board that could be used over and over.

A critical aspect of poverty that is hardly addressed. We can talk about the deserted buildings, the bankruptcy, and the underutilized infrastructure, but this is an issue of basic needs for people... and it is great that it is getting attention. The community of Detroit deserve this, and a lot more.
