The irony with the Human Revolution "racism" controversy, is that the character wasn't written to speak that way. It was the idea of the black voice actress who wanted to portray the character that way. But some big fat white guy said its offensive to black people.

Tony Chang -wow, that was fast.- I've been prioritizing buying the stealth games recommended by Razorfist and what I've personally liked what I saw with playthroughs. As a result, I'm debating as to whether I should play my newly purchased copies of Splinter Cell (chaos theory and double agent), Deus Ex (GOTY edition and human revolution), and -don't judge me- MGS HD first. So far, the first two choices are the more likely as I'm not touching Metal Gear until I have at least the first (which I haven't bought yet), but on the other hand, Metal Gear's obnoxious cartoonyness might be just what I need to make my introduction to M-rated games as smooth as possible. Not planning on playing 4 or 5 though. Or any of the non-numbered besides Revengeance. I should not be saying this on a Rageaholic video. Sorry, Razorfist :(

Deus Ex is gaming's strongest series. Serious. _Deus Ex:_ Masterpiece. No question. 10/10. _Invisible War:_ Spectacularly underrated Cyberpunk noir, with a killer twist. 9/10 _Human Revolution:_ Directors Cut gives all the brilliance of the original, and irons out the awful bosses. No excuse to not play now. 9.5/10. _Mankind Divided:_ The densest, most elegant actioner in ages. 9/10. Give the Call of Duty shit a rest, or whatever Sony are belching out this month, and hunt down these games. You won't regret it.

For real, man. Invisible War was pretty damn good despite the environmental tone being a little too distant from the first. Great soundtrack too. I'm currently playing it again. +Paxton Gilmore I loved Invisible War. Sure, the tone was different but the gameplay and story was a continuation of the original, through and through. However... it had really tiny levels and long loading times between each to be able to squeeze it in on the XBox and that, I think, is what people remember the most from it If the PC version hadn't had those limitations then it would have been a great game.

I'm a youngion who was born in 1995, so I originally missed on Deus Ex. However, during my last year of high school I went through quite the conspiracy phase and came across the scene where Sarif tells Adam about the Illuminati. That fascinated me and made me eventually buy Human Revolution. After beating that game (and loving it) and owning it for a couple years I came across some videos that talked about the original Deus Ex. Embarrassingly, I didn't even know HR was the 3rd in a series and after finding out how easy it would be to run Deus Ex on my old PC I ventured into what would be one of the best games I've ever played.

I like Invisible War. A Lot. In addition to the boss fights, one of my biggest criticisms of Human Revolution is that it is weighed greatly in favour of stealth gameplay. Not only do you get much more experience by taking down enemies stealthily, but also the difficulty levels have a negligible effect on a stealth playthrough.

I remember it was one of the first games I got with my Xbox (gen1) as my PC was on the edge of outdated (loved playing Diablo, Starcraft and Starfleet Command, but Battlefield 1942 was a nightmare and that wasn't because of the bullshit default control settings when you plugged in a controller) The game was better looking and ran faster than most of my Friend's Rigs at the time, plus it was too much for their Computers. (Highschoolers aren't going to shell out $600 for the necessary upgrades when we got free shit from Coding Class) It was around that time that PC Mastercard (TM) Apes were engaged in the unending Trolling campaign we know today.. Good going guys, I was a PC gamer with an outdated Rig who manged to streamline enough processes to keep it viable one year longer than it should've and You pushed me into the Console Crowd. Anyway, I spent four years putting Devastating Viruses into critical files on Free Download Sites and I think we managed an actually "Trusted" site for I think it was a Diablo "Complete Edition". Judging from Comments left by Angry Users.. we made an impact on some folks. Seems that trend didn't die down cause basically nobody trusts a free download or Pirate Game without Quarantining the thing for 24hrs.. You can thank the Coders they pissed off by being Basement Dwelling Elitists, we were kids with no money and a cheaper alternative you decided to shit on.. Hope they liked getting a Rig Bricked

I played Invisible War before the original and could not see the huge differences folks insisted existed between the games, making the sequel so much worse. Folks were impressed greatly by the original because it had no predecessor and their standards were raised for the sequel so it struck them less. The only other complaint might be how the 3 endings are fused together but I found that solution elegant. Otherwise you'd need three shorter IWs.

Thank the Rageaholic for dry-humping one of the most influential video game franchises ever even though he'd rather go to town with the equally awesome original Thief from the late 90's. To this day I still remember Deus Ex because of the story, the music, and the decent set of solutions to whatever was in the player's way. Even the game's bugs and glitches made the franchise fun. Here's hoping that guys like the Rageaholic will merge with Helios someday because perhaps they might do a better job at running the world. I could go on, but others have already done that.

I have been a fan of yours for some time, and glad to have found your channel again after a large absence. A glitch I remember being present on the original Deus Ex was when the scientist/hacker dude gives you an augment canister later in the game, if you have a full inventory when he does so, they keep stacking up. Dragging with a right-click would put a 2nd layer to your inventory over the first, and allow you to carry more. I'm not sure if right-clicking and dragging outside the inventory was an actual method in the game or a fortunate consequence of having a full inventory at that part of the game. As Mankind Divided approaches I hope the series matches the heights that Human Revolution restored it to, although the epilogue chapter of that game was a massive letdown after an amazing beginning, middle, and less so climax... Mankind Divided's story seems to be getting the precursory knowledge of transhumanism well out of the way and focusing more on the dystopia following a possible singularity, but I am glad to see them continuing Adam Jensen's storyline. (possible SPOILERS from Human Rev / Deus Ex:) The allusions to Icarus in previous trailers of Human Revolution had me thinking the story was going to head a different direction than it ultimately did, and after seeing early footage of Mankind Divided I think they will continue that story arc (as far as Jensen possibly becoming AI (Icarus) of the original, perhaps as a digitized consciousness of some kind. I was thinking they were going to have Adam Jensen ascend as a conscious AI in a satellite or something hence the aerial allusions of the AI's name as well as the footage of Jensen in an early trailer rapidly ascending. I always confused Warren Spector as being the composer of the original, not the creator. I applaud Mccann's soundtrack to HumanRev quite a bit for several of its tracks. I have very limited experience with the second entry or the series, but didn't even play it until much after its release and thought it showed more signs of age than not. All this "TL:DR" aside, I'm a big fan of the series and stoked to see them continuing it one way or another, though as more entries are tallied onto it, I fear it may head the way of MGS / Star Wars in becoming too prevalent to remain as a singular set of classics...

RazorFist thanks for introducing me to this awesome series I just got to the point where I can get into pc gaming and you tell it how it is and if a game is worthy of your praise its got to be good and once I beat this series I'm moving onto the Thief series and for anybody who cares the complete deus ex series is on sale on steam for under 5 dollars

Deus EX aged well, and so did this review. What would be a word that describes an 8 year old retrospective? For that matter, what would be a word that describes playing a game in 2020, from 2000, that envisioned the cyber-dystopian 2020's?

So I started playing Invisible War, after re-watching this retrospective and realizing I had it installed via Steam. I honestly don't know why people hate on it. Yeah, the small maps are a pain, and universal ammo is a bit annoying....but so far I'm loving it. It's got most of the charm and quirks of the first game, with a lot less clunkyness. I like it. :D

Welp, finished invisible war. Definitely a worthy sequel. And I like how they actually gave us the whole picture for the endings this time. Definitely a worthy conclusion for the story.

I'm curious as to your opinion of Alpha Protocol, it felt a lot more to me like a successor to the original Deus Ex than either of the official sequels.

Deus Ex 1 was a fantastic game. I had so much fun killing the Illuminati's ultimate death machine, Simons, by literally putting a ton of bombs on the door and just luring him past it.

The first Deus Ex game is my favorite game of all time hands down. That game got me interested in other stealth games and the Thief series 'cause they are somewhat similar.

Just picked up Human Revolution for 2 bucks from a local game store. This is my first playthrough of any Deus Ex game and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I almost feel bad for paying only 2 dollars for such an engaging game.

I'm very interestend in what you could say about Valkyria Chronicles - my favorite game of all times beside HL. Did you play it? Despite being my favorite, I know you would do a great review

Could NOT agree MORE with your view on Invisible War... Very well said, man, I also cannot see why it was judged so harshly. Same as Thief: Deadly Shadows, one of my favorite games.

I will be perfectly honest; I thought you had sliced in an audio log from some other game or film when you played Triss's scene. My brain damn near imploded when I actually played the game to find out that was all Triss. However; there are two flies doing the backstroke in the ointment. I found the simon says take downs to be really annoying and the cover system/pop-out-cover mechanic to be a complete nightmare.
