Microtransactions are acceptable for the mobile industry, mainly on android, since players aren't fond of paying cash upfront. And developers can't make 100% free games, they have to eat, you know? But it's unacceptable on AAA titles where you've already paid 60-100 USD.

TypicalKHKfanboy At least mobile games are cheap or free to play so microtransactions are somewhat understandable. These AAA games are fucking $60 plus all the dlc which is probably around $90-$120.
@michaelvincent64738 жыл бұрын
They aren't even okay in mobile gaming because entire games are balanced around making them seem appealing. Some games it is even necessary in order to be sucessful. They're entire goal is to sell microtransactions, and nothing else. And the thing is it never ends. They give you the first levels easy, basically free to spike your dopamine by giving you good things. Then the reward drip slows down, the material/ resource grind goes higher, and the game is just a time sink after that. Repeat this process ad infinity because you will ALWAYS need the resources micro transactions sold in these kinds of games or else they are incredibly difficult to obtain without. It's all a scam and the idiot kids and dumbasses who fall for it and defend it make it easier for devs to scam gamers. A game should have a simple up front cost, that's it. There is no reason anyone could ever give to justify infinity microtransactions, even if there are varying degrees of use between people.
@jwenting8 жыл бұрын
microtransactions are the only way to make money off of an audience that's unwilling to pay for actual content by buying the game and/or paying a subscription fee. And it works, idiots too cheap to pay $10 a month for a game subscription are more than willing to pay $100+ a WEEK in microtransactions to play a "free" game.

I feel that if you really want to play the game and the micro transactions in no way effect the game at all please just pay full price for it. You purposely waiting for a discount to buy the game hurts the developers more so than the publishers. I feel that PC gamers are becoming really cheap as of late, if it is a monetary problem than I understand why you did it but if it's not I highly recommend just paying full price for it as you are supporting the developers who seriously work their heart out for these games while getting paid pitiful sums of money for the amount of effort they put in. Just my 2 cents, you can ignore it if you want to. I am a PC gamer also, don't own any consoles.

I don´t see any reason to mention Pokemon GO, that game is 100% free to download, the only thing you pay is for the data you use when you walk around, and the company that own the game doesn´t get anything from that... It´s much worse to have it in a game that you pay a full price for.
@daniellado25238 жыл бұрын
I know what you are saying but I feel that any type of game, free or not, shouldn't have microtransactions because they ruin the experience of the game. Making the game harder to force people to buy more little payments just hurts the experience of playing. Fortunately thy did not intend to make Mankind Divided harder, but other companies like EA and Activision would have no problem putting them in to their new releases. It is also the reason why the mobile market has become so awful. For this reason, it is the better choice to get rid of microtransactions completely in video games altogether.
@raziele.11058 жыл бұрын
Microtransactions in Pokemon GO are actually a good thing cause that's the reason Pokemon GO is still alive, it if wasn't for microtransactions in f2p games they wouldn't even last long cause f2p games are like cars being fueled by microtransactions, if a car didn't have fuel then it wouldn't work thus turning it into scrap

You never felt short of points because the micro transactions were added to the game 2 weeks before launch. Square Idiots walked in "we want micro transactions" when the game was not build for that at all and the developers were busy polishing the final bugs (thnk you Jim, for that info)

@Aeradom20008 жыл бұрын
Wait a minute, so you'd rather have a game that was built around microtransactions instead of one that was just tacked on to make Square a few extra bucks? I swear, I argue with people on issues of gun control, race, and climate change... but gamers are the fucking worst when it comes to their extremism towards shit. This socialist, anti-business bullshit needs a serious reality check.
@jprsfragoso8 жыл бұрын
Damian I usually never answer, because its a waste of time, but i am shocked how you went from microtransactions to race extremism... i wasn't arguing how microtransactions should be added, if they are bad or good, because its obvious they are bad. ALL i was saying is, and i see i better say it slow: they are USELESS (not bad/good/howmade.... useless) because they were added last minute with no thought to the game balance. Had i rather had them being made from the ground up into the game? I would rather have them not there at all... if calling Square Idiots wasn't enough of a clue, i don't know what is. It wasn't an ARGUMENT, it was INFORMATION
@Aeradom20008 жыл бұрын
JP Fragoso It's not that I was comparing this topic to racism, it's that I was talking about the differences in mentality between the two groups. In that, I can find more of a compromise with those groups then I can with gamers on this issue which to me is insane. Look if you can admit that the only reason you are against all microtransactions is that you've been brainwashed by a society that teaches kids from an early age to hate business and then reinforce that point over and over with everyone damn villain being some evil business guy, then we're cool. BUT, if you even consider yourself in the slightest able to step away for a moment and think objectively, you'll realize that there is no real argument to be against this game based exclusively on that it has microtransactions that affect the gameplay whatsoever. You think that by boycotting this game it will stop companies from doing this? Then how about doing that in a game where it actually happens and you don't come across as so unreasonable (which that's really what I meant iwth the comparison).
@GrammarNaziAUS8 жыл бұрын
+Damian We don't want them at all you moron. Adding them for no reason makes it out like the industry think we're fools willing to spend cash and making the game revolve around them just makes us to be fucking wallets and that's it. Not everyone's like TB, no matter how hard he believes he's consumer-friendly. Also, "Overwatch is okay because cosmetics". Is affecting gameplay okay now too, as long as it isn't too bad. Seriously fuck today's culture and society. Allowing such greedy corporate conducts go on with no way for us to get out. Either get indie games or stuck with micro-transactions.

Some things that were not talked about or i wanne disagree on: -I played this game for 48 hours, (One and a 3/4 Playthrough) Its not short if you enjoy doing sidequest or play as intended- well like an agend. WIth agend i mean information gavering, hacking, stealth etc.. -The story aint realy shallow either, on the surface it might be, but if you wanne look behind the surface of the story (like intendet) to figure out whats going on then you will find that something much more complex is at play. Personaly i dont get why the game has to be about the end of the world for example, i dont mind stackes that are not extremly high. - Also killing everyone and civilian in sight will make your playthrough feel weird or unimmersive, it wasnt intendet to be played like that, still a shame that the devlopers didnt account for such playstyles very well. -Not talked about are the dialoges that you can engage in to pursue non lethal ways, dialoges in wish you have to persuade the opposition with your wit. they are not found in many other games and happens to be very well done and extremly intrestingly made in deus ex. -Perhaps it was important to mention that the pc port crashes alot for some people. -Also, the extremly well made, and varied soundtrack ( for example diffrent combat tracks for diffrent areas ) is extremly mentionworthy, but he didnt realy get into that. -Some more bads to talk about.. The energy consumtion of your abilitys could feel restrictive at times, i highly recommend to spend your first praxis on improving that. Also the mix between the prag city music and its habitants kinda gave me an odd feeling that just didnt mix well together. To sum up, if you are someone who enjoys immersion, and is willing to be immersed, then this game is an absolute banger. Anyway, this review was fun to watch.

+captain kirk Im totally fine with that. As someone who played the hell out of the pen & paper game 20+ years ago I would rather they take their time and meet all of Mike Pondsmiths' vision before releasing a game or even making a release announcement or gameplay footage. If you havent played the old game it would be hard to explain. Fantasy fiction , like The Witcher, is just easier to do because of the abundance of reference material. Future fiction takes a lot more creative input, brainstorming, and reworking to get just right. Knowing that Mike has wanted to make a AAA game title out of his intellectual property for over 20 years really has me hyped, hell had me hyped from the go. Anyone who has played the CP2020 P&P game has been waiting for this game for a very very long time and CDPR knows they have to get this right or it could really ruin their reputation as a developer. Yeah Yeah the Witcher games were really good, but just wait till you see what they do with Cyberpunk.

The gameplay was a natural progression, Adam really feels like a super soldier. I just wish Eidos continues the franchise, and we get the conclusion to Adam’s story. Have the next game finish his story, and maybe the one after can pick up further in the future with a new character. P.S. the kill switch is explained by a nearby PC. The Illuminati sent an undercover to be with the “bad guys” to keep the guy under control, if shit goes sideways, they have an emergency kill switch.

What scares me the most about micro-transactions in AAA games is how it's slowly creeping in and we can't do anything about it. Us ''older'' gamers who lived through the days of AAA games without micro-transactions know exactly why it's an issue. But, even then, some of us would sometimes pay for those micro-transactions because now we work, have money or simply have no time to grind, etc. And that's for us who are aware of the problem, yet do it because we have our vices or needs. Now think about the new generations of gamers. The young ones who grew up in a time where DLC is now common practice, where micro-transactions are cool little features in their games. In the future, when us older folks will either be too busy to play or simply not interested anymore, those young ones are still going to be playing with those new types of games. They'll find it normal. Maybe gaming companies will add stuff even worst than Micro-Transactions in the future and that generation will hate it, but they already accepted Micro-Transaction as the norm. The problem is going to fall to the next generation of gamers. This will keep on happening from one generation to another. By the time AAA games cost 200$, 100$ of DLC, 50$ of microtransaction for a 1 hour buff, etc, us ''veterans'' will all be 80-100 yrs old fools who will complain on forums and discussion boards about ''the good old days''. Who will listen to us? We're not the target audience anymore. We'll turn into those same elders we see sitting in front of their house complaining. Except this time, we're sitting in front of our screen.

Square Enix became a greedy shit publisher. Just Cause 3: it was so unfinished and empty, 80$ game. And you still have to pay for DLCs that bring almost nothing to the game (EVEN EA DIDNT DO THIS WITH BF4, you pay low for the game, and fill the full price quota by buying premium). Then the Hitman with the episodic shit because they want money right away. Never buying games published by SE ever again.

Apparently Just Cause 3 was supposed to be just a multiplayer game, but Squeenix kept changing the goalposts for the developer, hence why it's an unfinished mess of a game. I think the most we can do is call them out on their bullshit, but praise the developers like Eidos.

Damian You don't have to be anti-capitalist to realise that microtransactions in full priced games are complete and utter bullshit. It's not so bad in Mankind Divided because Eidos Montreal clearly balanced the game without them in mind (and Square Enix decided to put them in against their wishes), but unless something is done about it now, it will get to the point where you'll have to partake in microtransactions in order to progress in a game. I guarantee you that a publish will eventually try and do that.

Well one of the proofs that this game's development probably wasn't peachy (and probably done in a lot of haste and chaos) is also its botched up translation of Czech texts in Prague. Seriously, the had to be done through machine translator. For example that bench with "Naturals only" you see in a review is not translated as "Přirozené pouze" but could be translated either as "Pouze pro přirozené" or "Pouze přirození" (which would be actually pretty funny for Czechs as that would also mean "Intimate parts only"). Natural things to said in Czech would actually be to say "Pouze pro neaugmentované". Other thing is that half of the people in Prague speaks with Russian accent even though they have Czech names. Of course these nuances are something that non-native speaking person will never notice but it shows how troubled this development had to be when they couldn't even find some native Czech person to proofread those texts.

Xan Saibot That's like saying Netherlanders and Germans needs to have the same accent...for the same reason.

+Khanemis yes. what s the problem? Czech are western Slavyanian, while russians are eastern Slavyanian
@MaxBlasto8 жыл бұрын
That doesnt mean anything. They are from one ethno-linguistic community, but czech is completely diferent language than russian. Developers sould really consider consulting this with someone who actualy know the language of the country where they want to set their game. Its almost insulting but what could we expect. Czech Republic is just a small country somewhere in eastern europe right ? ....
@Khanemis8 жыл бұрын
Xan Saibot THe problem is, as I mentioend earlier, that Czech people just have a different accent than Russians, no matter the ethnic and linguistic similarities. Or do you think all the countries with similar base ethnicity should speak the same? Even people inside of on country can usually have very different accents depending on the location. MaxBlasto Yeah, it is a bit of a shame, really. Yeah, most of the world won't notice the difference but still attention to detail is important when creating the game. When the miss such an obvious things how can they manage subtler details?

@misaeltoral5088 жыл бұрын
+nazim ghellache And? The game doesn't need it. Square Eninx (the publisher) forced this crap on Eidos (the developer) so no. Your assessment that other developers would include them is wrong because you mixed up the developer and the publisher. It's about balancing the game and if you've played the game (I can assume you haven't) you will see that they are there simply to please the publisher, nothing more.
@NinjaGamer-oy1ol8 жыл бұрын
+Saint Link micro transactions are getting more popular and games sell like this even if the micro transaction are minimal, other companies might include them and make them worse. Doesn't matter if no one purchases the micro transactions, if the game gets a free pass publishers will just flock to it (EA Activision and other greed corporations)

The story is really the only complaint I have. It's so good but short so I just wanted more. But there are so many side mission and each one is so different and diverse from the other it kinda makes up for it. Every other aspect of the game is amazing. I don't really get why the microtransactions bother everyone so much. It's not like you get pop-ups for you to make ingame purchases every two seconds. In fact if you don't go to the store you'd never even know they were there, they are literally only in the game store, and what do you expect to find in a game store? Now and days every game has inapp purchases. It's not like you level up so slow that you need to buy praxis kits to get all the upgtades (Like a mobile game) Not at all with the side missions and other ways of gaining xp I leveled up at the same rate as in any other RPG. I almost maxed out my upgrades first playtgrough and didn't spend a dime. Then maxed out really early in NG+ yeah there's a new game plus. So those microtransactions are really just for people who want to start off OP. Honestly I don't mind those microtransactions even being there except for the fact that they are one time use. I would have considered buying some Praxis kits just to get a little ahead if they weren't one time use but I'm glad I didn't leveling up is half the fun with this game. It never feels like a grind. That was their only mistake with the in-app purchases. That alone is not even a good enough reason to lower the score. It's simple just don't look at the microtransactions if they bother you so much they. Are people afraid that if they see 10 praxis kits for sale they'll feel compelled to buy them is everyone weak willed or something? Idk but I loved this game. I'm the type of person where gameplay is most important if they have that down I can get over the short story. Plus since there is NG+ I got over it fast since I got to carry all my hard work into the next playtrough which was totally different being that there are completely different ways to finnish each mission. It was a totally different game second time around.

Joe, this trend of microtransactions will destroy the gaming industry within the next 10 years. Its already affected Halo, almost every MMORPG, and I'm not even talking about Destiny and Wargaming-produced games like WoW, WoT and WoP. Its like you said, they are "turning the dial", little by little, first introducing it into the games as an added bonus to slightly enhance gameplay and make leveling up easier - but over time, you will see, the free-to-play mode will become literally unplayable (like in SWTOR). There will be so many restrictions, so many penalties when playing vanilla, that it will literally force players to start paying just to make the game enjoyable. Season passes are another perfect example of as you put "turning the dial", soon enough every single expansion (for expansions that should have otherwise been free) will require a fucking season pass. More than that, season passes will cover less and less and less content, forcing you to buy them more often. This is a fucking impending disaster and there is not a god damn thing that we can do about it as gamers.

Honest question; what's the problem with season passes? I've only bought 1, I think, but it was for Borderlands 2; I loved the original, knew I would want the DLC (which was not lame cut-content but completely separate stories and areas), and it was cheaper to get the season pass. So...why not let people buy the DLC in advance for less? I usually wait for a GOTY edition or whatever instead, but I'm not seeing why this is so terrible, and I'd like to hear your opinion.
@CCEmwe8 жыл бұрын
Borderlands2 might actually have 1 of the most sensible season-passes out there.
@misaeltoral5088 жыл бұрын
+Bill Jacobs The problem is that you're buying something which you don't know its content, it's just a "promise" that you will get something, could be a map, could be clothes, could be a new character.
@billjacobs5218 жыл бұрын
Most the season passes I've seen stipulated precisely what it was for. I mean, I bought the GAME and didn't know it's content, not really, so why not buy the DLC with only the promise that it will be new story quests and areas to explore? As I said, I've only bought one, but I've considered a few others and looked them over and they usually seem like a decent deal, if you already feel really sure you will like the game.
@misaeltoral5088 жыл бұрын
+Bill Jacobs When the game is brand new, they don't tell you. Fallout 4 season pass was a mystery when it came out. With the launch of Nuka World it finally shows what it actually offers as a whole. But you know until the last piece of DLC has been released.
