Devas: angelic, lawful good celestials that definitely aren't DIVAS! (D&D Compendium of Monsters)

Devas are an important celestial in Dungeons and Dragons’s 5th edition monster manual because these unique celestials can help drive a story in very unexpected ways. When your party reaches a town plagued by trouble and realizes they’re up against a very powerful big bad, a deva is a great way to show them that a deity has noticed their cause and sent aid. Or maybe the deva is an outcast looking to redeem themself. Upon redemption, the deva reveals its true form and ascends (or descends) to the plane from which it originated!
