I guess i just have that luck with second hand games. i highly doubt MGS will ever show up on Humble Bundle because it's Konami but i think most are available on Steam except for MGS4 but honestly just get the Legacy collection of Gamestop, i bought mine for under 20$ and MGS4 for 2$

the condition of used games depends on the person you're buying from. the next person you buy from could have meticulous handling of the disc. there are two types of obstructions caused by bad handling that make them unreadable. smudges and scratches. you can clean off the smudges with water and tissues but you need something else for scratches. if you want to buy digital, you could wait for some -80% sale. that humblebundle idea is even better.

You mention what does Konami have now? Well, what do they have...? Castlevania, Silent Hill, Suikoden, Metal Gear, and Contra. So they -have- those, but which ones are still active? Sadly with the deathknell of Metal Gear, they are staying afloat with literally only IP brands they have no intention of using (outside of those super fantastically awesome AAA pachinko machines...). This shit really depresses me. Not only are those franchises gone with no sight of resurrection, the company that has them is still afloat for the time being, which means that they don't even need to sell them off. I think if Konami goes down and burns quickly, it would be the best thing for fans of those franchises. They'd be sold off to other companies to (hopefully) create new games. Let's be honest even if those games were created and were total shit, it'd still be miles better than where they are now. Almost feels like a toddler who doesn't want to play with their own toys, but then they don't want anyone else to play with them either. So yeah, fuck Konami.

I've heard that Konami is making money hand over fist with there Pochinco machines. Witch I'm pretty sure cost very little money to make. So this current CEO sees the company that has 2 products. One that is cheap to produce and makes a boat load of money, and one that is extremely expensive to produce and has a much lower profit margin..... so he's getting rid of the product that has the huge cost. I have an interesting story involving, at least, whom I think was Hideo Kojima. A couple of years ago I was driving out in the New Mexico desert on my way to Phoenix. I had recently bought a Metal Gear Solid t-shirt because I thought that the thing looked cool, so I was wearing it that day. It was pretty much an empty road that I was driving on, save for one, shiny red sports car that managed to pull up in the lane next to me. The thing hung there for like a solid two minutes. Finally, I was like, "What the hell is this guy doing?", so I look over to my left and I see a guy that looked exactly like Hideo Kojima with his head turned in my direction, squinting and peering at my shirt. I didn't know what the hell to do and before I could react, he quickly shot his face up and locked eyes with me, smiled shyly, and gave me a surfers wave before passing me and leaving my life forever. Do I have any way to prove that was Hideo Kojima? Of course not - but, of course, when I tell the story, it was DEFINITELY him lol.

The first thing you need to understand about Konami is that it is a family business. The chairman, Kagemasa Kozuki co-founded the company back in 1969, with the “Ko” of Konami coming from his surname in case you didn’t know. Now until last year Kojima was comfortable within the Konami hierarchy and his studio got special treatment despite its high operating costs. It seems that many, rightly or wrongly, thought this was unfair. What with the budget of the latest Metal Gear Solid (shown above) obviously spiraling upwards and likely the same for Silent Hills too, something was done about the situation and so the president was changed. The previous management seemingly got on with Kojima. However mid-last year people had had enough and the old management was replaced with Takuya Kozuki, the chairman’s son. So from that point on, what we are now seeing was inevitable. If anything some of these changes might be better for Konami in the long run, as concentrating any PR narrative through a single individual is a dangerous approach when it comes to a company’s branding. As when they leave they take your company’s identity with them. Konami was hijacked, and I hate to know how the founders feel about this. They must feel hurt, the new Ceo didn't want to afford to keep Kojima and that's why all of this happened.

The minute Konami announced they were getting rid of Kojima, cancelled Silent Hills, and then the firestorm started was the moment I decided that MGSV:TPP would be the LAST Konami game I would ever purchase in my life. It's literally like Konami is saying "we just hate money". Hope Kojima does great things with Sony though.

The only exception to your CEO rule would be the CEO of Nintendo (prior to Iwata). He apparantly just knew when something would sell well, and work well, without ever playing the games. And look what we got :D

Hideo Kojima mentioned in the leagues of Shigero Miyamoto and by association, Yokoi, Iwata, etc. and it's only very well deserved. I've seen and heard a lot about the absolute mastermind Kojima offered to video games. He deserves to be respected among the greatest devs of all time.

I really wanna know what happenned between them both, if anyone knows send me a link. The only thing I can think of is that Konami wanted to milk mgs dry, Kojima wanted to end it at mgs 4 and was forced into doing 5 and refused to do anymore then Konami went into superbitch mode

Its nice to hear these game devs and creators backing up HIDEO KOJIMA after what he went through i was shocked to hear someone from the FAR CRY 4 team say that i love far cry 3 and 4.

Konami is like that villein you sometimes get that have so much hate for the world that in his slow death all they can do is flail and blame the world for there faults all the while shouting at Kojima and blaming him for all there his failing, then they just sort of die in the most depressing and sad way with out even the feeling of satisfaction that they are gone because there death was just so full of hate.

Sad thing is, I give this 2 months before everyone is completely over this. That's the way the gaming industry works. Everyone gets worked up over something and then within a month or two, they've completely forgotten about it and no longer care anymore.

According to some (anonymous) sources Konami's higher ups think anyone can make a videogame and that people like Hideo shouldn't get credit like that. Reminds me of Atari in the early 2600 days before Activision came along and changed everything.
