Devs & Dice - Since I wrote a different slaads into 2 of my campaigns, I had to buy and paint the minis (my group doesn’t know they’re coming - Mwa-ha-ha). I’ve only painted the smaller Gray & Death Slaads, so far. I bought a larger Green one along with the aforementioned Blue one. I’d love to see you paint a Green one.

Thank you Steve! Yeah it really is a common "problem". I actually have got some more space to store my miniatures now so I feel psyched to start painting some larger miniatures as well! :)

Looks great! Did you use any sealant or varnish? If so, what did you use? Thanks!

Thanks Robert! Yeah so I brushed on some satin varnish from Vallejo on the whole model. Then I added some Gloss varnish in the teeth, mouth, claws etc. Once that had dried I finished the tongue off with some UV resin to simulate drool! Thanks for the nice comment! Have a good one! :)

Hey Leif, those eyes look great on the Slaad. I usually give everything a "superhero mask Eye" look just doing white eyes. I love how yours came out, do you have any tips on eyes video or perhaps one in the works? Great video.

Hi! Thanks for the nice comment! I do not have a video out that covers that subject only but generally what I want to do is to darken the eyes, then go in with white and then the pupil. Nothing fancy really. I tend to use a lot of inks to color the eyeball for monsters and such. Hope that helps! :D

Thank you Jacob! It was a lot of glazing and trying to pay attention to where I deposit the most paint i.e. where my brush leaves the surface of the miniature. :)

Hey Leif. I saw you got the primer of a Nolzur’s mini with a sonic cleaner. Is there any other ways you could do that? As I’m trying to get the primer of some minis but now it just looks like a spotty prime job. Any tips?

Hey Matt! Yeah so I have really stripped Nolzur minis in two ways: using a sonic cleaner and then bathing them in IPA Alcohol. Both of these methods involves some use of an old toothbrush to scrub them clean. Is it a Nolzur mini you're trying to strip?

Yeah, it is a Nolzur’s mini. So far I’ve been using dish soap and scrubbing with a brush, but it’s not working out too well... IPA alcohol, will it damage the mini after a while? Thanks for the super fast response! The mini looks really good btw

Yeah I have never been able to get it off with dish soap and scrubbing. If I remember correctly, the mini I left inside the tub was like at least 2 days and no damage what so ever. And no worries. I am usually around :)

What white primer did you use for the zenethal highlighting? An airbrush or a can? I have tried Army Painter, Citadel's off-white and Tamiya's. All of them seem to clump.

I am somewhat sure that I used a can for this and I think it might have been Vallejo's white. But I am sure I have used Citadel and Army Painter products as well. White pigments are the trickiest of the bunch and I have had several cans just clog up on me. But generally I tend to shake them more than usual and then use some misting from about 30-50 cm away. That usually gives a good result! Hope that helped. :)

I watched this video for the first time a few weeks ago. After watching you paint such a beautiful monstrosity, I had to find this mini. I want to practice more wet blending. Today, I finally bought it, but I won’t paint it until I can get some of that hobby sand (the game store doesn’t sell those accessories). I have a couple of questions, though. What do mean by passive highlights with the purple (maybe it was “pass of”)? How do you do glazing (the Screamer Pink on the tongue)? Thanks again.

Hey! Thank you for the nice comment! :D I think I meant to say "pass of..." and when it comes to glazing it's all about thinning out the paint with water or a medium, drying it off on a paper towel and then painting it onto the model - over and over again. It essentially is thin layers of paint you apply so it might take several coats before you see a result. And darker colors are easier to glaze with in general!

Devs & Dice - Ok, like layering. Multiple coats of thinned layers with much of the paint removed. I’m still learning terms, like glazing and stippling (my Mum, who uses to do ceramics, knows this stuff). Thanks for the help. It’s greatly appreciated.

Yeah exactly or rather a lot of the water is removed so that you can maintain the control much more. But sometimes I ignore that as well but I do that with the knowledge that it will seep down into all of the cracks. Sometimes that is desirable so. No worries man! So happy to help! :)
