That may be a great tool for an old man like me with arthritis in the hands and elbows. I can’t use a manual tool very long. Very interesting. Thank you for the review!

You can definitely keep that blade sharp with a specific tool for doing so on hand pruners. It's fairly easy to do and I highly recommend it.

I bought this at HD and have used it and really like it. Cut through some really tough dried limbs and it took 3 or 4 trigger pulls to cut but it did it. Smaller stuff can cut 4 at the same time. The Flex volt battery from my new trimmer works with it but is heavy.
@zaineridling4 ай бұрын
If you position the limb/stick as deeply as possible in the blades, holding the limb against the fixed blade, it cuts right through it. When positioned against the moving blade you have to cut 2-3 times to get through it.

Seems like a good tool for people with limited hand strength who need to do some light/moderate pruning.

I just got mine last night, charged the battery and tested this morning. It does not feel as heavy as I had anticipated. So that's a good thing. It just cuts so quickly and easily. One question though.... before putting the battery in, I ran my finger across the blades to feel how sharp they were. I keep my old hand sheers literally razor sharp. But this blade feels dull. I can run my finger across with pressure and no fear of cutting my finger. Is this how it's supposed to be on this tool? Or am I expected to sharpen it. In the box, there is info on how to remove and sharpen the blades. So I don't know if that would be a good idea or bad. I was able to cut a branch that was as thick as the smaller side of that big branch you cut. I don't have thicket, yet. Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Used this for branches that I'd normally have to use my hackzall for, and it was much faster. Definitely a good tool for pruning, and much easier than using pruning bypass shears or loppers. Easy to hold down the safety levers, so you just need to pull the trigger.
@chingonbass Жыл бұрын
plus the hackzall pushes the branches all over the place making for unstable cuts. I might have to get one of these doo-dads

Does this Dewalt pruner offer a pole attachment for tree pruning? Or is there an after product it will fit this unit?

Would it have more cutting power with a bigger battery? Like an 8ah or something?
@Resist4 Жыл бұрын
A higher AH rating doesn't give the tool more power, it just gives it a longer run time. If you want more power then you need a higher volt tool.

Excuse me. Is it a single-shot trigger? I mean if my finger or children put on the blade and pull the trigger. Can we unactivated at halfway cut?

@Resist4 Жыл бұрын
A FlexVolt battery won't give it more power. For more power you need a higher voltage tool.
@paedahe4975 Жыл бұрын
@@Resist4 Bigger batteries have less voltage drops. Smaller 20v batteries drop in voltage fast, thus leaving the tool running at 16v perhaps. FlexVolts hold on to the 20v for longer, thus optimizing more power of the 20v system. The tool can only do so much. There is no hidden power from larger batteries, I know.
@Resist4 Жыл бұрын
@@paedahe4975 I've learned something, thanks! I use the Dewalt 20 volt 5 AH batteries and they have been preforming well. But I might have to check out their FlexVolt batteries, but they're huge and will add a lot of weight to this tool.

Plus, this electric pruner can cut thicker branches than I can with a manual pruner, unless I had a large bulky one with long grips. But we can have the manual tool debate all day long. Drills were manual prior to electric drills. I remember them, they looked like a manual flour mixer. Big hand saws were the norm before electric circular saws too. Manual tools get the job done, but one is a lot faster and easier on the hands.
