Hi I watch your video least 6 times until I got it. I did fix the impact driver. My impact driver is old unit with only one dog ear. But, I got the bearing in with the spring and the spring with the collar and the hard one; the hog ring. I got it again. It works. Thanks

I tried and failed a lot of times to do this and even ordered a new ball Thinking it was the problem. In the end it was the new spring catching on the back side of the collet, compressing the spring and disengaging the ball. The fix was adding more coil to the spring making it closer fit to the shaft and therefore not catching on the collet which should go all the way back without spring forward during assembly

Great video. Sure wish my impact had the same hog ring as yours. Mine was a flat key ring-style washer that was near impossible to put back on. Lost all the pieces a few times when I lost my grip and the spring was able to let loose.

You do not need a replacement part to make this repair simply take the failed spring. Bend an end about eight of an inch and reinstall. And put back together Just did this in the field and it was stressful and took about half hour to get the pressure ring around it..but it works like new and I saved 3 bucks or 140 bucks on a new drill.

Good video, but I can't get the hog ring on the chuck to finish the job, even when trying to do it without the spring on! It's just going to the shop. I spent 2 hours on this thing. Not another minute of my time will be had. Lol

I have replaced the spring as show, as the old one had snapped at the bend that contacts the ball leaving a little 'u' shaped piece that fell out. It did not seem to fix the problem. I re-replaced it several times with the part I ordered from your site. I have even looked at other demonstrations of this repair, and I seem to be doing it right. However, the ball still doesn't seem to engage with the spring enough to hold the bit. Any suggestions?
