@@JustaSimplefactthis might not be common knowledge but as a knife nerd the button locking system is one of the most common locking mechanisms of all time since its release. However for a while button lock knives were primarily for more high end(ish) knives and Milwaukee was smart to bring it to a level that was much more accessible. Now they’re on just about everything

@berryreading48095 ай бұрын
ONLY Milwaukee utility/pocket knife I still own and recommend! All because of the extra blade storage in addition to the awesome folding screwdriver (assuming it's the updated exposed ball/spring collar bit retention version that doesn't wear out immediately after light use ane start dropping $2 Klein reversible bits! 🤦♂️) It's also relatively thin, but still has the incredibly important feature of that single spare blade storage... My previous favorite was the small Dewalt folder with my preferred top button slide out/non exposed blade design, and 3ish? blade storage compartment, but after being discontinued and hard to find, I finally permanently switched over to the Fastback 6 in 1, less blade storage, but a folding bit driver that has longer reach than my Leatherman Surge/Wave clones with ¼" bit drivers do... The only thing that could make the Milwaukee better is if it was electrically insulated (even if not officially rated for it 😉) but I've also wanted an insulated plier head or body on the Leatherman Surge/Wave style multitool and now clones for over a decade, so I guess we can't have everything perfect, but the previously tools are awfully close... 👍Assuming you buy a knockoff Leatherman that won't break every few months and can be replaced for the cost of shipping the $100-$170 broken Leatherman for the lifetime warranty evey time you snap or ruin the terrible quality, terrible heat-treated QC implements! 🤨
@berryreading48095 ай бұрын
Also if you want a good quality fixed blade version knife style of the Milwaukee 6 in 1 remember the Kershaw "select fire" knife/back strap folding bit driver is still available... plus it has the 4 bit storage on the side. Although the regular straight, non partially serrated version is getting a bit harder to find since it's such an old product/design, and some people have complained about QC issues on the fold out bit storage compartments having issues... The belt clip is certainly better than the wire of the Milwaukee 😉👍 My original (that didn't get permanently borrowed) is probably atleast 15-20 years old and still works, even after snapping the tip off the blade while definitely misusing it, so it now has been ground into a tanto point 😆 Still love that knife and design, but with a multitool with a ¼ driver with a reversible bit and the Fastback 6 in 1 it just becomes redundant to the redundancy... Even if I only carry one of the two... Just a tool way ahead of it's time, or everyone else was just behind 😉

I have the serrated version of both this and the old DeWalt knives and i'll still use the old DeWalt tanto. The locking bar is thicker and the action was smooth. Ever since i added a bit of Hoppes 9 lubricant to the bearing it has become melty butter smooth. I did carry the fastback knives but the thin locking bars that tended to move when force is applied made me rethink daily carrying them. The new DeWalt tanto may be sharper out of the box with a more pronounced tip but the lock bar is thinner and tends to stick when closing the blade. Plus it kind of feels like a downgrade considering the old style had the lanyard hole and raised thumb serration point plus thicker metal.
