I’m sticking with my 36 v metabo hpt recip. She’s got litttle to no vibration and orbital action as well as shoe adjustment which we all know is great for blade longevity

I got one of these today, the kit as described for $300 at the orange store. This is my first reciprocating saw so I really have nothing to compare to. Nor do I know the significance of not having original action. But having seen a video on DeWalt’s mid-range recip saw, I do wish this one, their newest and top-of-the-line, had two features from that one: 1. The adjustable shoe; 2. The ability to attach blades horizontally in addition to vertically. Honestly since it’s my first one, I’m not sure I’m ever going to want, need, or miss either of those features, it’s just that knowing they exist makes me want them.

I would prefer orbital motion but the only Sawzall I've seen with it is the rigid.. if it doesn't have orbital it's not a deal-breaker but it is preferred makes for a smoother cut and faster

Brandon Dally I realize it’s a month later and you’ve probably already found them for sale by now, but just in case, I’ll mention I bought one today at Home Depot. The HD app & website said all the stores around me had “limited stock” and to call to check availability. But I was going into one anyway so I looked and they had two on the shelf that I could see. $300 for the kit as described in the video.

I got the same saw I was cutting some roots for a fence installation and after continuing use the saw will stop in the middle of the cut The battery was full I'm thinking of returning it

Hi TRZ, The new DeWalt flexvolt reciprocating saw looks pretty good but a few things they missed on this new model. First, no rafter hook. Second, adjustable shoe. The third is where you install the blade they didn't allow the blade to be position 4 ways like the compact Xr 20v. It has a large open but why if you can't use it. I have to say I do like the release blade switch on the side better then my milwaukee sawzall. Man, i do hope dewalt can make a new version of that 20v compact Xr reciprocating saw with the new power detect technology and less vibration. That is a nice compact reciprocating saw. Kudos to DeWalt , however there is one thing I do not understand. It's obvious that DeWalt was behind the eight ball when Milwaukee came out with some very powerful cordless tools. So why would they not give it a extending shoe....if your cutting material like angle all day a extending shoe is a must with the price of the carbide blades. Where is the rafter hook ? Nevertheless....this looks like a wicked cutting machine. Great vid hoss....

Welp idk seems Dewalt missed a big opportunity with this and the power detect model by not adding what would essentially be standard equipment on flagship recips from other manufacturers. No orbital, no rafter hook. I’d like to see dewalts new offering up against Hikoki Multivolt (Godzilla), Milwaukee Super Sawzall , and the new XGT Makita Recip.

If you apply a little more pressure towards what you're cutting with the guard it won't jump so much and will cut much smoother.. Good video overall

DeWalt seems to take pride in making an inferior reciprocating saw. No orbital, no adjustable shoe. These problems plagued DeWalt reciprocating saw since they were called Black & Decker Industrial.
