Total Marketing Bullsquirt! . Dewalt was a small radial arm company that Black & Decker purchased in the 90s because their B&D name was synonamous with crap. Overnight they rebranded all their better Black&Decker power tools "Dewalt" and changed their case color to yellow and black. Rigid Pipe and Tool is owned by Emerson Electric ,St louis. Emerson also owned a power tool plant that made 95% of the Sears Craftsman Power tools for decades. Sears (Craftsman tools) was going downhill fast also in the 90s and Emerson needed a new buyer for their power tools. They remarketed their Emerson power tools with a new orange color and using their sister companies brand name "Rigid" they had a recognized name they could use on them! Emerson approached Home Depot with their rebranded power tools and made the contract deal to sell them to Home depot. THAT is where these power tool companies, and their brand names of tools, REALLY came from!
