This is such a strange takeaway from this scene, especially when his character actually is a child predator. Dexter knew because he can sense other predators of all kinds around him, he wasn't just assuming. Not predators go to kidnapping or immediately trying to rape their victims. Some build a rapport, make themselves appear friendly and harmless to their victims, that's obviously what he was doing here.
