DG be scheming and scamming

Just terrible what's the point in having a sale if you're employees are going to keep all the good stuff to themselves?
Dollar general Valentine's Day stuff went to 90% off today and I went into this one store and didn't find anything in the store but seen a few items sitting on a shelf in front of a window behind the cash registers. I ask the lady could I get them and she said no they are an employees. I said that's crazy why have it in plan sight, why not put it somewhere else if the employee wanted to buy it. mind you this is 9:15 ish in the morning so clearly they put it there the night before knowing it would hit 90% off today.
DG employees always on some BS, not all but some.

@@CocoAvalon Having worked there, I get taking stuff and putting it back for yourself, especially with all the crap you put up with working there. But these employees made the mistake of leaving the items out, and if the items are on the floor you have to sell them, that's just policy. All they had to do was simply remove the items to the back.

I love this video because that's the problem that I'm having in California. You can't find anything. It's not put out and then the stuff that's put out is trash. I said the same thing. They're keeping it back in the back to theirselves but you said they had it out on the floor. Yeah they taking it and they keeping it themselves and I'm glad you said something. Maybe Dollar general corporation and see this and do something to those employees❤

The manager of one of my stores took all the Christmas gift sets (all of them ) and hid them next to the refrigerated foods in a cubby hole he’s stashed stuff before and they were all gone by Tuesday morning when they went to 90% off soooo shady

Are you in Texas? Because i swear something similar happened to me. I went in on a Saturday and there were two robes behind the counter...those ones that were on sale for $5. The lady said that i couldnt buy it because they were saving it for a manger. I kid you not i went in the next day and the robes were still behind the counter. I went ahead and just reached behind the counter and grabbed em (it was open, nothing blocking it and was within reach lol) but yea...they play games you just gotto let em know you can play games too lol

I work regular retail all thru college. I even work Ralph Lauren boutique during holidays in Dallas ; just so I could have the employee discount. At both jobs we placed items in the back & had to purchase the day of the extra discount. (Etc) We couldn’t hold for longer .. 😏😏

We have 2 in our town. Ive never found a penny item or anything better than 70% off. You have to Climb over unopened boxes but the clearance stuff at 90% is gone before the doors open. Its also had Lawsuits because of injury

It happens ALOT here in Central PA. Christmas plastics were pulled at 99% of the stores here last Monday. Found 1 store that had them and was told she called Corporate and their gonna try and fix it, come back tomorrow. My friend went back the next morning they weren't on the sky shelf. They were in the hallway by the office door, she was given the same story, come back Monday. If corporate was trying to fix the problem why were they pulled off the sky shelf in back by the office door? A lot of the Valentine's candy who was pulled before last Tuesday as well

It’s called Packaways (inventory) for next year. Once they remove all the seasonal items from the store they get scanned back into their inventory for next season and sometimes if they don’t sell, items become markdowns(cheaper) & over time (years) they will become clearance for that season. But if they’re left out and not being put back into the seasonal inventory system then you can still purchase those items as long as they haven’t been scanned back into their inventory system. Just no returns on seasonal merchandise Because of not carrying holiday items everyday. You’ll have to wait till next year. For the candy, if the candy has to do with any shape or look like “seasonal candy” then it goes on clearance. It stays up for 3-4 weeks until sells out which pricing will sometimes change to get rid of it and if it doesn’t sell from being in clearance then it eventually gets marked down to be thrown away!

Ok yeah I know the do throw A LOT away but if it was being put back into their system then it shouldn't be sitting in plan sight. Maybe put it in the back room you know.

Yes I agree with you! That’s what they should do but sometimes employees are just lazy or too busy to even do so or they aren’t the employees that touch that department.(& don’t have a clue about inventory) I know that it’s supposed to be done by the store manager and or the merchandise manager but things don’t always get done right away if they have hundreds of tasks to do in a very short time frame. I worked retail for years and was a store manager for years until I got injured from never having enough employees to help. Nobody wants to work for minimum wage and to be asked to do more work for less pay. But I really loved my job just about every aspect except for the constant call outs or the no shows or the occasional stealers but I enjoyed seeing my almost every day customers and the employees that did work out for the long run. I loved merchandising and changing the entire seasonal section in a day or two and to see how happy everyone was with the results., to enjoy early holiday/seasonal shopping! 😊 You could also call corporate or ask for the store manager to make a complaint about your experience with the employee who didn’t have a clue. Maybe they need some training on customer service.

I had Family Dollar do the same thing to me over some tumblers. Sign said 90% off and she said they couldn't sell it to me. That it would either be thrown away or packed back up for next year. Yeah right!

So, you're right. It should be for sale especially if it's on the floor anywhere. They should have never set anything back for personal sale there are several rules about it. But, do we set stuff back so we can purchase it later especially when we know it's going to on sale? Yes. It's really one of the only perks we have in this job, knowing when things are going on sale. Put that stuff in the break room though! Also in the stores defense, sometimes they do tell us to pull things that will soon be going to a penny, and that stuff may not have been for an associate to buy, that's why it was just set out in sight, then no we can't sell it to you.

Yeah I know that much, but she did tell me that it was for another employee. But yeah I get the fact that you're going to set stuff to decide for yourself but like you said don't put it in plain sight of a customer because we're going to think that it's okay to buy it as a customer. I've never encountered an issue like this before while shopping at Dollar general.

Girl, I was just saying this the other day I went shopping two months in a row for the sales at DG in Essex County NJ and all of the stores have all of there sale items cleared off the shelves and or placed in other areas stating it is not available for sale. Their employees are doing some really shady stuff. Corporate needs a call.

She initially told me that they were a co-workers items. Then after talking to her about scanning the items to see what the price actually was and she then seen that they were a dollar she then told me that she wasn't allowed to sell them anyway even if they wasn't the employees... That's definitely scheming and scamming. But if you don't think so that's totally fine, carry on 😉

That is true, but why keep an employees items DISPLAYED IN A WINDOW? That's one of the parts that makes no sense. Especially after seeing that I was the 3rd person to ask about the items. Maybe they should've moved them to the floor behind the counter. That's what makes no sense to me.

You're better off not shopping at dollar stores at all. I used to shop at places like that and learned that it actually cost me more than the big box stores, because the dollar store stuff was so cheap that I had to replace broken stuff all the time. Places like Dollar General, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, etc, are all designed to prey on low income people and bargain hunters. It's all junk that isn't fit to even donate.
