I already knew the different levels with different prices for these boxes before this series started. I was going to say this the other day but I'm glad I waited until the interview where he actually addressed it. Now a personal Grail his personal n holds great value for the individual that owns it. Usually people do not get rid of their personal grails because they have priceless sentimental value and are very important to that individual, this value could be there for any reason, any type of memory or life experience, anything that makes the person feel good when seeing that item and nobody can't say what is big enough or bad enough or exciting enough to make something your own personal braille. We all know there is no conversion rate to determine the monetary value of sentimental value, people get disappointed every day when they find out something they own and cherish that they believe is valuable is worth nowhere what they thought, not just collectibles. This could be family heirlooms, all jewelry, etc.. just because you love something does not mean other people will. A great example of one of my personal grails is my Labrador retriever pop, this pop is very special 2us because our Zoe actually played a pretty big role in us discovering pops. When Zoe checked out n went up to the great back yard in the sky I put a clipping of her tail hair in the protector with the pop. She was very special to us, I actually still have some of her toys on my side of the bed. That is what I think I have a personal Grail. When it comes to actual monetary value of a pop I completely disagree with Grail status starting at $40, that's starting price is too low. Of course no price is established, there is no official number, The price of a Grail is definitely wide open 2 interpretation. Do any of us think we have $40 grails? If somebody took a poll of the collecting community asking this question-how much should a pop B worth 2start calling it a grail? No personal Grail, no stories about standing outside in a blizzard all night waiting or swimming through a pond of angry alligators to get it. Just how much money does it have to be worth. How many people do you think would say $40? This was a really great series you did! I really appreciate the time and energy that was put into this. It was very interesting, informative and most of all enjoyable to watch! I would love to see you do something like this again on another topic some day. So tomorrow it's back to the jokes, right? I hope so, please. LOL. Can't wait for the next video! Loving the excellent content🚀

Thank you so much for your lovely, well thought out comments all of the time. We value what you have to say! Everyone's idea of a grail is different, and while we don't necessarily agree that $40 is "grail status", it is MG's, and they state it on their website. As consumers, we need to look at what we are purchasing and make the decision whether it's right for us or not. 😊 We are hoping for a fun drop tomorrow so we can REALLY joke, but even if there is no drop, we promise, there will be jokes! 💖

Great series. The questions were fair (if lacking in a few follow ups but this video was informative overall) but my one big disappointment is the way gambling addiction is just brushed aside here. It might be unfair of me to expect this as (I'm assuming) none of the people here are experts in the science behind it but I do think the answer to the question of "can someone be clinically addicted to mystery boxes" is more fact based than it is opinion based (and I'm not going pretend I know the answer as a fact either, it might be something I go down a internet rabbit hole for later if my curiosity get big enough). Other than that this series was great and this interview was good and I'm glad this conversation actually happened, even if it felt like people (on both sides) didn't want it to.

7 bucks is a honest company IMO. I remember buying a couple figpins when they use to sell them and the very next day they had a buy 2 get 1 free sell on them. I messaged them about if they would honor the the order i placed the day b4 for the free one and they messaged me back almost right away saying they would honor it and just to reply on which free pin i wanted. Most companies would say sorry the sale started today not yesterday but not them. Ever since then everytime i hear or see there name i remember the great customer service they got. I'm not a mystery box guy, but I like 7BAP. I kinda stopped visiting their site as often when they had "drops" because the good stuff is gone so fast that if I wanted something, I likely wouldn't be able to buy it in time. I don't know what's up with that or if it's bots or what. But eventually I just quit trying.

Hi Steve! We have heard this complaint numerous times, and have spoken with the owner on a separate occasion about this. They are very anti bot, have anti bot software. It seems there are a lot of people (check their social media comments) who have the purchasing speed down. It's first come, first serve since they only have one of each item available per slot. The thing about the odds (and I know some people keep harping on it but I feel like it's dismissed as something silly) is that the the difference between 1% and 0.1% is huge. If someone was to ask "what is the cost of a common 4 inch funko pop retail" I would be correct in saying "less than 100 bucks". But while I'm correct, the person being told this information will probably think the price is much higher than the 12 bucks it is. And the difference between 1% and 0.1% is similar to the difference between 10 and 100 but in the opposite direction. And a lot of people have trouble thinking with very big numbers and very small numbers. I get that "less than 1%" sounds like "a very small chance" to most people, but that phrase in and of itself is vague. I can use it to describe my odds of opening a grail, or of being hit by lightning but when you look up the odds of those 2 things they are vastly different from each other. I do applaud Lee for making this change though, I just see a lot of people still imply that that change wasn't really needed because the terms mean the same or something along those lines.
@Gastlecast3 жыл бұрын
I think it's common knowledge knowing that we have a small chance with most mysteries boxes that are this cheap and not marked as guaranteed value. Additionally, when this was pointed out, changes were made. I get what you're saying but to us it is practically the same with most cheap mystery boxes we've been buying for years
@richardsuplee81373 жыл бұрын
@@Gastlecast but "a small chance" is just too vague of a phrase that doesn't mean someone understands the odds. I play dnd a lot and I see this in dice rolls. There are a lot of things that are "very small odds" that I have seen occasionally. someone rolling a natural 20 twice in a row. it's rare but it happens. I never saw anyone roll a natural 20 3 times in a row though. Both have what I would consider low chances, but the differences between the 2 is immense (1/400 vs 1/8000). When talking about odds, being as specific as possible is the only way to really understand them. And I applaud that Lee understood that when pointed out to him. And I get I probably sound like a know it all a-hole but I think you'll agree the key in mystery boxes is understanding going into it, we just seem to disagree on what it means to fully understand the odds.
@Gastlecast3 жыл бұрын
@@richardsuplee8137 We respect and understand that point, but MG updated their odds on their website. We still do not agree that it was misleading. If someone is bad at understanding odds in percentage form, we feel the graphic they post every week with 2 Mega Grails, that states on the photo that there are 1750 boxes, is more than sufficient. But not everyone thinks the same way, and we respect that. Good on MG for replacing their odds with a more accurate .1%.
@richardsuplee81373 жыл бұрын

"I don't see why one is a better way than the other." Umm... If I only used mystery boxes as a way to build my collection, I would be in deep debt compared to buying the specific product I want. Mystery boxes in general are a scam. It's gambling. But to each their own. Great interview and questions, just not sure about the quality of the answers. They need PR training lol
@Gastlecast3 жыл бұрын
Using mystery boxes to build your collection vs buying a mystery box once in awhile for fun are two completely different things, my dude. If you get something you don't like, trade for something you do like, give it to a friend, donate it to a children's hospital. Mystery boxes are meant for a little bit of fun and entertainment, I don't think anyone is purchasing a mystery box to build their collection lol! Franchise kicks actually pulled 3 star grails after the controversy, not 2. 3 grails out of 18 boxes. Not saying FK isn't lucky... But it's pretty bad optics. Probably why sponsors, friends and family are usually except from participating in promotions. Sorry to say but that's just the way the real world works. It is only good business motto to have whoever sponsoring your product. Look good in either your commercial KZbin video or Instagram. If they want to send particular person Swag to promote their business there is nothing wrong with that. That's how sponsorship works. Lee does not seem like the person that would Fluff a mystery Box for one person more than another that just when Be good business especially if word got out. Specially since he gets a nuff free promoting from all these youtubers opening his boxes. I probably see 6 to 7 videos a week of people opening mystery grails. That's all free press for him. So if you truly look at it he doesn't even really need to sponsor anyone if he doesn't need to. So if you truly look at it he doesn't even really need to sponsor anyone if he doesn't need to Not trying to be rude but just trying to answer your ?

I absolutely hate this argument. Any smart KZbinr would never take a sponsorship if they didn't back the company. Their care packages are just a "thank you" for promoting the company. Dr. Applesauce has actually never purchased a Mystery Grail box, so that argument is void. Franchise Kicks pretty much only opens mystery boxes. I can almost guarantee that Clint would still purchase MG boxes regardless of sponsorship because that's what his channel is based on. Assumptions are not cool.

There's probably other factors we aren't taking account for either. Working for a small business owner at 1 time in helping him get his business off the ground I think you do not understand how profits work every item in your business has what they call a gross profit margin. That is the percentage of profit you make off each item. After all expenses are paid for the item including man hours. Cost of everything that it takes to make ship and pay for that item Plus your daily business overhead. $15 item may only have A gross profit margin of anywhere from 3% To 75%. Most smart businesses try to make at least 30% gross profit margin on each item. It's hard to judge with Knowing the logistics.Without Lee opening up the books and showing you that you have no idea if he really is making that kind of money a week. It would be really hard for me to judge unless I knew exactly how much each pop cost how much the packaging costs how much shipping costs. How long it takes to build each Box. And what the overhead would be say supplies lighting rent etc. Hopefully that answers your question wasn't trying to be rude.
