Diagnosis of Early Alzheimer’s Disease vs. Mild Cognitive Impairment

Excellent! I have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My MRI scan is scary with hippocampus 7% of normalized size for age and sex. But, Mild Cognitive Impairment from some other scan where I was asked questions and the machine measured brain waves? And 3 verbal and written tests. I understand better now how I can function reasonably well and still be working. I don't understand how I can think well sometimes and not other times. This is a problem as people tell me I don't have Alzheimer's and other times that I do have Alzheimer's.

Hi there! I'm concerned about Early onset dementia. My MRI with and without the radioactive material was "normal" however my cognitive impairment is strong! I also have crazy anxiety and no energy I'm in bed 23 hours of the day. I'm not sure if I have CFS or early onset dementia. Do you know if they would have seen something for certain if I had this disease so early on ?

Thank you for sharing this comment "Sometime I can think clearly and sometimes I cannot." This is my husband. The best I can tell is that his thinking/not thinking depends a lot on how much quality sleep he is getting and the amount of protein he is eating. He also had a lot of mobility issues which I "assumed" was NOT related to his cognitive decline but rather seperate issues.

Do you know where the studies are on the efficacy of the 3 word recall test? There are 3 little articles I've found, but not any decent studies to justify giving that test to the elderly. I know it's a standard test and I'm betting someone came up with it decades ago, and it has just been passed on down without any clear research. I'm writing a graphic memoir of how I used my health and fitness knowledge to stop my mother with mild dementia from forgetting me, and I've been flummoxed on the actual studies for the 3 word recall test and the cube drawing test. How many people can go grocery shopping with 3 items in mind, and actually remember all three? My college freshmen cannot remember the 3 questions I ask them when they go around the room. Let me know if you can point me in the right direction. Thanks

Getting a diagnosis seems to be so difficult. Different tests ie CFS , FDG Pet show biomarkers, then amyloid Pet seems negative. So now what?

@@ashajeremiahqw8775 😂 no that stuff was crazy. I had a hypersensitive nervous system. Almost thru it now. I was never gloomy or down during this experience at all. CFS is real bro and no flu or anything else compares to the energy levels.
