I second the last posters comments. Unfortunately I purchased a more expensive code reader because of the ABS warning light (but I am future proof!) The parts were easy to replace and your explanation for disconnecting the wiring connector was valuable. My repair was to a 2002 Altima 3.5. Replaced both sensors as you did ... all in it took about 30 minutes. Between this video and others I learn a valuable skill... read the main obd codes and clear them first. A basic code reader was all that I need for this

Great video helped me replace the sensor with no problem. My 2005 Quest died on me driving home. The pos battery terminal was corroded, I cleaned it and it started. It died again a day or so later, I checked the terminal and the clamp was worn, not tight so I replaced it, drove fine. No check engine or other lights on dash. Next day or so car died again. this time check engine light on and slip light and tcs lights on. After a few minutes the car would start again but hard to start. So I used my tester to get the code, found this video and replaced it with no problem. I would not have figured out where the part was or how to take off the electrical clip without this video! The sensor that went bad on mine was bank one, the one in the back of the engine. I ordered the other sensor and will replace it in a few days when it arrives. Thanks for this video!

Thank you . That was exactly my problem. No power because TSC and SLIP light was on. Performed an ODBCII scan and found a PO345 (camshaft sensor) along with a few other codes such as engine misfire. Went to Oreilly and purchased bank 1 and back 2 camshaft sensor for ~ $150 total. Replaced them, cleared the codes, and now it runs perfectly. BTW: My 05 Nissan Quest almost has 100k miles on the engine- fairly low miles for the year.

Good video. My code said P0340 Bank 1, this is on a '07 Maxima. Symptoms were a momentary losses of power and then the TCP and SLIP lights would come on. Just replaced so don't know if that will fix the problem but fingers crossed. It must be a fairly common problem because the bolt head was a little chewed when removed it, so someone else has been in there before. Hope it works, very tight fit and a bit of a bear to remove and reassemble.

Good for you, it's always best to get the OEM sensors rather than aftermarket. Aftermarket sensors seem to fail after a few years. I replaced my Bank 1 sensor two years ago. I'm starting to get occasional stalling and hard starts now, coming up with a P0340 code again. I think I'll get the next one from the 'stealership'.

@TheMerajmsiddiqui7 жыл бұрын
Hello Sir, many thanks for your video it did work our for us as well (we have Nissan Quest SE 2006). We had the TCS/SLP along with engine light ON this June 2017. Got the error P0340 thru the code reader and replaced the camshaft sensor and the engine light went off. Haven't replaced the crankshaft yet. But ever since the problem happened - the car makes significant noise while accelarating (similar to tuck..tuck sound), is this related or is there something else that I need to focus on? Should I go ahead and replace the crankshaft sensor as well? Furthermore as you kept the car for so long - when do we change the car plugs & gear oil (kms/miles) for this car? Your response will be much appreciated. Best Regards!

If it sounds like it is clicking, they are notorious for timing chain issues. The plastic guides need replacing. They become brittle. And if it is what I expect you hear, it is the chain loose. eBay you can get kit for $70 and do the job yourself, but it is extensive.

My check engine light went on after one stall and 5 hesitations over a month period I went to get it checked. My brother works for a parts company and they analyzed the check engine light for free. Turns out the light came on from the camshaft position sensor. He got me both sensors for cost of $91. He sent me to a shop who said they would install both for $70. My question is Is it worth the $70 or do it myself it seems pretty easy by your video.

Well, if you have confirmed It's those camshaft sensors, then you can judge (after watching my video) and see if you have the tools to do the job. I don't think it's that hard if you have some tools at home. Even if you have to buy a $40 socket set, it's still cheaper than paying them and you will have tools to use from now on. The only tip for this job (if you are new to working on cars) is don't drop that bolt, and take your time.

I took it back to the part store and got a new one. there are no lights on or codes now, but it is still running roughly. there is no loss of power, its like a shaking / vibration when pressing the gas. it has 105k, the spark plugs have not been replaced. Hi, your videos rock! I have a 2007 Quest and I feel much more comfortable just knowing how some of this works. Question #1...if I remove the clip and see oil in the sensor part can I just try cleaning that first instead of removing the unit? If yes, can I use brake cleaner to clear the sensor from dirt:/oil? Question #2....Would you not be easier to remove the 10mm bolt and then separate the sensor from the green clip? I have big fingers! :-)

Hi, Question #1: well the purpose of doing this repair is because the sensor actually failed, not because there is oil on it. You don't want to spray brake clean on any sensors. Brake clean is a very harsh chemical and can damage the sensor. Question #2 you disconnect the connector first because there is not enough slack on the wire to pull that sensor out with it connected.

Hey your videos are very helpful . I have a Nissan quest 04 sL and it would crank up then lose power then I would crank again then it would go but it has a misfire while driving it would suddenly lose power and usually it would take a little while to start . I did take it to a auto part store and these were the codes I got P0335 P0113 and P0102 also my engine light on although I did just recently put on an mass air flow sensor . do you have any advice on how to get it to run with misfire and lose of power thanks.
@dial2fast8 жыл бұрын
+Mandy Swinney The P0335 is crankshaft position sensor which is located under the car on the transmission. It can cause the car to stall. The other 2 codes are MAF air related and you said you replaced with new sensor. Not sure what else is wrong. You might end up taking it to the dealer to get some professional opinion.

Okay thankyou Also do you think I should replace the crankshaft position sensor. and the camshaft.

Did the engine service soon light turned off by itself? Or you did it? Because my 350z had same problem and changed the sensors but my lights still on, how can I Make it go away? I changed it the 8/13/14
@dial2fast10 жыл бұрын
Mine went off on its own after a replaced both sensors and started the engine maybe 3 times. If you need to turn off the CEL light, you need to use a scan tool

Another fabulous vid. I just wish I had seen it last year before I did my camshaft position sensor on my Altima 3.5. Releasing the connector is where I had problems and you describe it step by step so well. A must see vid. before you attempt this job!

Our 2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SL has the same problem and there's no check engine light or anything. However, when drive then the slip lights comes ON and won't speed up. In order to stop the slip light and speed up, then press the TCS button which show TCS OFF on the cluster. I also replaced the cam position sensor bank 2 and bank 1 (not from Nissan but aftermarket) but does not fix the problem. Do you have any ideas or the 2 new sensors is bad? TY

I noticed that you have a ton of Quest maintenance and repair vids. Subscribed! Thanks for posting these. Do you still have the car? I just hit 100K miles. I wonder if others who have surpassed me can tell me what all I am in for? I did have to fix the roters in the back twice due to them locking up. But that's about it so far. I wonder when I should put in all new belts...
@dial2fast9 жыл бұрын
+Trent Mason Yes I still have the car at $128k miles. The Nissan 3.5 L engine is solid as long as you do regular oil change. It has a timing chain so no need to change it. The drive belts should go for about 40-50k, just check for cracks. Note there are 2 belts. Behind the drive belt, there is a power steering belt.

+dial2fast I installed bank 2 because our Nissan Quest V6 was stalling out and that was the code I was getting. The check engine light went off and so did the SLIP and traction control light that had come on with this failure. Trouble now is it runs great, but when you park it for more than a few minutes and go back to start it, it will run, quickly die, then you can restart it and not have any more issues. Any idea why it is not having trouble upon first start? It doesn't do it first thing in the AM, it only happens when the engine is warm and you restart it. It also will start that second time and run like a champ. Could the timing be off now? Could it be that the other sensor (Bank 1) is going on me too? Or, do you think it is because I went after market on the sensor?
@ThatGuy-yk9qp9 жыл бұрын
+Trent Mason the sensors are heat sensitive

What were the symptoms of the car when this was bad? My car kept jerking and dies when I unplug the MAF so I think it's this

Imraan Abdullah I don't know if you still have this issue but alot of the times you have to buy them at the dealership because alot of the aftermarket parts come out defective most of the times I learned this the hard way

My nissan maxima car got the TCS OFF/SLIP light sign and my car was stalling so hard on the road. It's been in the garage for 3 weeks now.. Now that i have an idea what it is, i'll go to a dealer. But how exactly do u know if Bank 1 or Bank 2 is needed?
@TheMerajmsiddiqui7 жыл бұрын
I am getting a P0340 (Bank 1): that's what the Code says, any updates on what happened at your end?

I have a question I purchased both bank1 bank 2 cam shaft sensors for adavance auto parts. Bank 1 cam shaft sensor came at an angle, would youhappen to know if that will be ok or is it the wrong part
@dial2fast9 жыл бұрын
Since I have not used the aftermarket parts before, I can't tell you why yours is angled. Maybe you can search on that manufacturers website and make sure it list the correct part number for your vehicle (or call them).

They gave me the wrong part. I went back and picked up the right piece..Thanks for getting back to me

Does this also apply to the Infiniti g37? I seriously can't find a straight answer as to where the bank 1 camshaft sensor is on that car
