So I’ve heard from a few people that the new 2021 with vvc HSC doesn’t have enough HSC even when closed. Is it better to stick with the 2020 grip2 if you are an aggressive rider. Or possible revalve the main shim stack on the 2021 dampener.
@povteer4 жыл бұрын
VVC was something I heard with GRIP2 last year, but with the Fox 38 coming out all over the internets, this video has the right timing! yah, what's VVC indeed. really helpful! thank guys!

Very interesting and well done video. I only have one question about the GRIP2 service (my fork is a FOX 36 Performance Elite @160mm). The official FOX video (like other tutorials) indicates to push the cartridge rod upwards for 3/4 of its travel in order to release the excess oil. In other videos some don't. By pushing the rod up so much, wouldn't you risk letting too much oil escape from the cartridge? However, I suppose it is used to avoid adding oil to the 40cc PTFE already included in the FOX reference table. Thank you so much! K

Thanks Jordy for this explanation. Have been trying to figure out the mechanism since it first came out. For some reason i thought the adjustment mimicked changing the diameter of the clamping shim. The actual execution is brilliantly simple.

Basically, the high speed valving is acted on by higher *effective* spring force without adding deflection/preload to the spring itself. The adjustment ridge changes diameter, but not height.

Interesting that no one ever seems to talk about the mid valve on mountain bike forks. Always rebound and base valve. Do any forks run check valves on the MV so the rebound adjuster only flows oil in the rebound direction and not on compression?

So I'm revisiting this video after the new GripX2 damper came out where they removed VVC on the compression side... if it's better, why get rid of it?
@WaechterDerNacht3 жыл бұрын
Did i understand that right, that this wing basically acts like an additional leaf spring to set the opening pressure of the valve and it basically just changes the length of that leaf spring, therefore the needed pressure to open it...?

Fox is very good as I have run there coil shock for 3 years and its tuneable but don't be greedy on the adjusters or just get it revalved. The Fox 36 very good but converted to coil and was so much better than air.

Maybe a question for Jordi: I’ve seen you do the quick rebound speed test by pushing down on the bars and seeing if the front wheel hops off the ground. But what’s with the “drop the rear wheel” test? Should it not rebound at all? How useful is this?

Quick question I got the 2021 fox 36 Factory grip 2 out of the box had issues with the HSR and LSR where it is kind of extremely tight to turn and it was moving the LSR with the HSR. The shop I bought it from had to send it back to Fox and Fox had to rebuild it because they did not have any of that same model in stock and now it's happening again after just a couple of light adjustments so I have to hold the LSR well adjusting the HSR. Any information is helpful

I noticed that the new 36 will go up to 160mm of travel and the 38 from 160 to 180mm of travel. So no 36 in 170mm anymore? Actually I read that the 38 is stiffer than the 36 which is more suitable for lighter riders. So for my weight and style of riding the 36 seems to be the way to go but I ride a 170mm fork on all bikes. I'm a little bit confused lol. Thanks for your answer.

what exactly is the difference between tunes on a 2021 Fox 38? stiffness of the little clock spring? orifice size? my 2021 commencal meta power 29 signature came with the 2021 fox 38 factory emtb tune; rebound is waaay too slow even with HSR & LSR dialed all the way out; while compression is waaay too light even with HSC & LSC dialed on the way in. 180 pound rider, 50-60 degree winter norcal riding, 100psi, 2 volume spacers. how do i fix this? i've heard the term 'reclock' but i don't know what that is. does fox ship forks dry to commencal, ie they might have put 20wt oil in the damper side instead of oem spec 5wt teflon infused???????????????

hi there folks @Fox suspension. I recently got hold of a Fox36 w/ the latest VVC damper and was wondering if the behavior I observed is normal for this new damper. When i fully turn the HSC/LSC to the close position, the fork still compresses as if there was no/minimal damping. in my 2019 Fox36 it's very noticeable even when just wound half way, you can feel the damper working. can fox confirm whether VVC is indeed working this way or is my fork damper defective. appreciate if you can comment, thanks in advance.
