To break apart drills, I use an empty pill bottle with a nickel in it. Put the stuck drills inside, put on the lid and shake vigorously. This will separate most of them without damaging the drills.

Hi, I’m so glad you said the painting won’t be perfect, I was stressing over the imperfections. Being the diamonds are not going on as straight as I would like. Being a perfectionist like myself makes it a bit difficult to deal with this. But as you said have fun.

Quick note: if you have a tablet like a kindle fire or an ipad - you can download a free app that turns your tablet in to a light pad for free. I just searched "light box" in the app store and found one. You can dim or brighten it using the tablet brightness setting.

Hi! I just found your videos and binge watched, great series! I thought I'd toss a couple other items your way as 'needed' (not really, but nice to have). For traveling or even just being at home, I plug my light board into a power bank. This way I don't have to worry about where there may be a wall outlet. Also Dollar Tree sells retractable USB to Mini USB cords. I have a few and LOVE them. I just finished a section of my canvas and when I'm done with a section I roll it out. I'm using a roller from Norpro. Apparently its actual use is for pizza dough rolling, but it looks a lot like a brayer. Every time I use it, no matter how careful I thought I was, I hear 'click click' of the drills being pushed into place. So that's a handy tool to have (a rolling pin is in most kitchens, that works as well). One item I just recently learned of was a soft bristled brush, toothbrushes work, or I suppose a fingernail brush? That is used when you are done with the canvas, to brush off any bits and bobs of dried wax, blue tack, florist clay, what-have-you, from the drills. I wish I'd known about that one months ago, haha. How do I sneak into houses and unframe and brush off the gifts I've given? (B&E: probably not the best idea, nevermind.) I'm looking forward to your next video. I actually diamond paint while watching/listening to various youtubers, so it's always nice to have a new voice to add to the mix. Yours must be especially soothing, because my cat decided she needed to sit near the speaker (NOT her norm at all!) She finally lay her head on it and fell asleep. You win! :)

The larger ones are more convenient when you're doing large paintings, but the smaller ones are still quite useable and are a lot cheaper. If you're not going to be doing any huge paintings, then just get a smaller one. If you will be doing huge paintings, and you can afford it, get the largest one your budget allows. 💖

I rarely sleep so I am close to being done and I have been shorter approximately 80 of 1 color. I'm a quilter so I'm used to just heading to the quilt shop and getting more fabric but with this it just seems impossible. What do I do to get more dots or square tiles or whatever they're called? Hi! I'm a new subscriber! This video really gave me some great tips especially for lining up the border drills. I'm working on my very first painting and I'm loving it. Question for you: I ordered and received a bunch of paintings. Is it OK to not open these other boxes and bags until I'm ready to start another one? I don't have a place to store the unboxed paintings and the bags of drills. What do you recommend? Thank you! :-)
@HotMessMiniatures
@HotMessMiniatures 6 жыл бұрын
Hi, and welcome to the channel! I would highly recommend you open and inventory your kits as you receive them. Most sellers, no matter where you purchase (with the exception of Paint with Diamonds), have a time limit on their buyer protection. So if you're missing drills, or have a damaged canvas, you need to know right away in order to contact the seller within the time limit to have replacements sent or a refund issued. One of the best places to store new canvases is between the mattress and box spring on your bed. Doing that will also help flatten them, so win/win! The drill packs can then be put in a much smaller box under your bed, dresser, or in a closet. Just be sure to label the drill packs so you know which canvas they belong to. Hope that helps!

Hi.. Thank u for your video. Where can I buy extra gems from? The trouble I had is that I bought a full drill from eBay. When I finished it it looked nothing like the pic which was very disappointing. I want to be able to save it by replacing some of the colours but I'm finding it difficult to find extra gems..

It's not necessary to checkerboard round drills, because they don't line up the same way. However, you can if you like.

I got my first diamond painting today and the "canvas" was more like a plastic cheap almost like tarp material....since this is my first not sure if this is a normal thing....I just thought it would be more like actually canvas material...I also had a Lot of other issues and it came from paintwithdiamonds website wondering if you have any recommendations for shops with overall good quality good customer service and fast-ish shipping .....maybe a new video idea for us newbies?

All of the canvases I've received have been thinner than a typical artists canvas. However, if you look on the back you should be able to see that it's made of woven cloth, while the front it is coated with a plastic type layer that stiffens the canvas and allows them to print the pattern on it. I wouldn't worry too much about the quality of the canvas material though, in my experience it is much less important than the quality of the printing on the canvas, and quality of the drills that came in your kit. I'm not a fan of Paint with Diamonds. I mostly shop through a few trusted stores on AliExpress, but shipping is slow. If you want fast shipping, Amazon is the place to go, but prices are higher and a lot of stores have misleading listings so quality isn't so great... Basically, everyone wants the trifecta of quality, shipping, and price, but you only get to pick two of those things. :)

@@HotMessMiniatures the back looks to me like a bad polyester and not a cotton....that's probably why it reminds me of plastic and it's starting to fray a bit but hopefully it will work.....at least from what I've noticed there isn't any sticky or oily residue on the drills that I'm always hearing about....but the packs do have some random colors mixed in the bags most are easy to tell which are the odd balls but there's this one pack that has 2 of very close colors at a glance but if u look close they are 2 very different colors if that makes sense so that will be fun to pick through and figure out what's the right color since I don't have a dmc chart lol but any ways since I do have. 50x50 cm to work on i guess I have time to order a new one and hope to get it before I'm done lol.....do you mind sharing the trusted sellers you use?.... I'm just wanting a site that will hopefully give me good quality and not residue diamonds and good customer service of there is issues ....I've been doing a lil research and have read paint with diamonds has terrible service so I doubt I'll even get a response from my email i sent lol

@@HotMessMiniatures oh and I forgot to mention there is no way for me to inventory my diamonds.....all are in single pack that's the same size in different quantities if that makes sense lol and inventory list just has the total number you need of each color no number of bags so only way to inventory would be to count every single diamond and there's no way that's ever going to happen lol

When the drills are packaged all in one bag like that, they're usually measured by weight. In those cases they send the amount of drills you need plus 20-30%, so you should have more than enough to complete your project as long as all the colors are there.
@HotMessMiniatures
@HotMessMiniatures 6 жыл бұрын
The different colored drills may have come from different dye lots. I wouldn't pick them out, especially because you might not have enough. Use them as is, and once they're on the painting it will just give it more depth of color and you won't even notice the difference. The sellers I use most on ALiExpress are EverMoment, EverShine, Hucan, and Zooya Official (not factory)
