I’ve had my DP Marquis since it first came to HSN years ago, and I had the original DP machine (the smaller one) before that. At first I found it annoying that the folders bowed so quickly, but I have learned to alternate cutting into both of the inside surfaces and then to flip the folder inside out and cut into both of the outer surfaces, which are now on the inside. Even after the surfaces are etched so badly that they are no longer clear you can still get beautiful cuts. I RARELY have to throw out a folder. I thought I would mention this because many people may not be aware of this. Thanks for the hack for straightening the folders. I’m sure lots of people will find that helpful as well. Wow .. awesome hack. I've used my heat gun to repair not only these folders but my plates for my Gemini Jr .. but LOVE that hack of using gift card in place of folders. Thank you so much for sharing.

When I started 3 yrs ago, I bought a box of 10 blank folders. But, I just keep flipping them over. Between that & getting a new folder with every purchase (I buy alot of DP), I've never needed to buy new ones and the box of 10 new folders is still sitting unopened and I have a ton of brand new folders in my drawer.

Definitely going to try both your demonstrations today. No gift cards about but I do have some similar products plus I hadn't thought of it before but also save many very firm packing materials I keep about for shims and what have you. some are so firm or coated that as long a they are narrow enough to fit it might work. I did the cut up those thin vinyl cutting mats and using four layers two on top and two on the bottom I only got so so results. Not impressed and warped as bad as the Diamond Press folders. Also cut pretty deep into the one the cutting die faced down into to cut the cardstock. Like many who have one of these machines however they are so smooth and easy to use. I'm determined to find and put to use all the hacks I can think of myself and fine here on KZbin posted by wonderful folk who share like you. Thanks and Stay safe everyone.

Hi Danyelle I just got my first diamond press Marquis machine. I love it but just like what you said about the smaller diamond pressed in 2019, this is 2022, the folders are very bad. I have been able to use them even though they’re almost folded over. I’ve only had it one day. I was able to cut about 30 dies and still get very good cuts. All of the die are very ornate. Love the way it cuts. I just watched your video. And I will try this on the Marquis. I can already see what I like and dislike. But it cuts like butter. I hate to buy new folders so often. My other cutting machines are very expensive for the plates. So I think I will love this little machine. I will also look to see what I can do. Thank you for the hack.

Omg thank you I just tried your hacks and it worked great! I am so excited and happy about this! Good idea! I hated having to replace these folders so often but love my diamond press machine!!!!! Now I’m using a die that’s about a half an inch bigger than my folder and with your credit card helper I taped 2 credit cards on the side of each of the folder and I’m able to use my hand die instead of pulling out my big machine you’re such a great help and I thank you again so much

I had been thinking about the Marquee, love the original, but the pads. I purchased a never used cuttlebug. A real closet queen, not one cut on the plates. Cheap! Anyway I also bought a cheap micrometer from Ali to measure plates and sandwiches. Works great by the way. CB STACK A+B+B comes to .750 inch exactly. The folders go through perfectly on or in the stack, you can turn them any wich way, room for extra paper AND the folders dont seem to warp as bad. Just found you today, am a new sub! Thanks for the hack! I was thinking of trying an iron with parchment paper! What do you think? I'm going to give it a try with an old iron. If it works I'll let you know. The machines may work but the real money is their folders and plates. By the way if you want to emboss in your DP try using a portion of the Amazon shipping envelope. Don't cut it open!! Just use it as is.😁😁🤗🤗 Keep the hacks coming!

How heavy was the cardboard you used? You don't think it would work with just the gift cards?

Debi Braswell, thank you for your question! I used packaging from a craft supply. If you have thick cardboard, you may only need one piece. If the cardboard is thinner, more may be required. It’s kind of a trial by error situation. Good luck! 🥰
