Thanks for breaking this down for learning new skills in a project. Doubt if I’ll ever build a cluster cos my setting skills are poor. Difficult to get three in a perfect line! But I do make three layer ‘flower’ rings and these are much better now. I might even be able to sell one! Ref your magic putty, here in the UK there is a product “therma loc” at room temp it’s a hard solid lump. After 20-25 secs in a microwave the round bar you buy in can be kneaded with fingers to a soft putty. You can push the cut dome into the putty and use tweezers on the shank. The putty will set like stone round the dome, so don’t go mad and bury it because it will be a nightmare getting it out. Just set it onto the putty gently and leave it to set. Warm the product if you have to because you buried it, and be gentle next time. Much cleaner to have around than mouldy wet fibre board decomposing in a jar!😂 but thanks Chris for making an old man learn. Next I’m going to make your dome, but pierce a pattern in the two parts then solder that ‘dome onto a shank as a new (but repeat of an old) idea. Keep it up and good luck. 😅

I’m planning on becoming a top tier patron in the next few days. Do you take requests and answer questions?

Chris, I..really loving this, thanks for doing these step by step builds. I REALLY hope the next part isn't only for Patrons (eeks). Quick question: the 4 sections, are yhis efforts four stones? I have no idea what this build is going towards. Are you doing pavé after? Prongs? Can't wait to do this. And what do you mean by "no stones, so no holes to cut out of the bottom bit" ? On a two part ring disc like this do you have holes (for stones) go through both pieces? Also, when you were setting up to solder you had the unit held in tweezers, next shot the tweezers were gone and the placing of the solder happened. Where did the tweezers go and why?

Its meant to be a practice piece made of just the building blocks of a cluster ring. The 4 scoops are for practicing shaping around stones. The next video will be for patrons only!

Is this supposed to be a halo ring? Must say don't really understand the purpose of the "four direction" cuts...simply decorative? I suppose a true finished piece would have ajoure cuts sawed out on the bottom and the top would be a center stone with pave set stones around the edge?
